You think we'd still be here if the whole sub was just pablum? If the world was a polarized as you think it is no one would be here... we'd be sorted safely into either /r/The_Donald or /r/politics and never look back to this scary place full of truth.
If this doesn't happen, the next best thing is watch for any abuse and if you see it, document it and post about. Force discussion.
And don't leave either. This sub should be for finding the truth and everyone should be welcome here, even Clinton/Bush supporters and intelligence agents who may learn something from us just like we can learn something from them. Compartmentalization of knowledge keeps everyone in the maze.
Looks like all mods have been around for a year plus, except one which was added three days ago, which appears to be an ex-mod that has been reinstated. No petition necessary.
I would like some means of ensuring continuity of ownership of mod accounts.
Selling established accounts is a thing. Decent money for older accounts with established Karma counts and reputation. I imagine an account with a history of mod privilege in a sub with half a million readers is even more valuable
The recently added moderator has been with us before, he helps us with updates on the page layout, css. The current layout is to be updated this weekend.
Once he has finished introducing the new page layout he will step down, just the same as he did last time.
I'm familiar with each of them, to varying degrees, having upvoted each no less than 20 times and up to 400 times in the past (according to RES), having been a mod here previously and interacted with a few of them on and off over the years, with the sole exception of /u/entfrozt who I have no opinion of at this point in time but was apparently 're-added' recently to tweak the layout of the sub, according to /u/mr_dong, who is one of the few people on reddit (on the mod list included) I trust fully.
I see no reason to remove any of them at this point in time, unless of course you can point to a specific example of misconduct, and with the input and consensus of the community. To have a user with no post history in the sub suddenly demand their removal is highly suspect to say the least, perhaps moreso considering the apparent influx of shills, disinformation and brigading in recent days.
I was yesterday a prime witness of the shill blitz. I engaged several of them, studied many others' post history. Here is their playbook.
They say the .gov propaganda of "Russia did the WL leaking" is a conspiracy theory and thus needs to be given equal weight on this sub. They cite Watergate as example of a conspiracy theory that was given massive coverage by the institutional press.
They say the most amazing thing about the Podesta emails is how little actual corruption was uncovered.
They say supporting Israel is the anti-establishment, free-minded move, because the UN, Obama and Soros are all against Israel.
They say the satanic/ritual part of the child abuse allegations against Podesta & gang is the best proof of the whole thing being false, as everyone knows that's unthinkable and impossible and nobody would ever do that
They pound on the idea Trump has "admitted" the DNC was hacked by Russia, and therefore we should admit it too because we are all Trump supporters
They say who hacked is much more important than what was hacked, as if I planted a camera to spy on you being lazy then I'd be more guilty than the lazy one
They always and everywhere refuse to enter in a proper argument or debate, cling to details in the posts they're replying to
They stir doubt on the moderators, are encouraging a mutiny, state that because their hoax Buzzfeed post was removed it proves mods are compromised and engage in censorship
IMO they won't succeed shifting the narrative on this sub, short of a forceful takeover of the mods. If that happens, it will be readily apparent, and we will move elsewhere. I think they know that, but don't care; they're after the url real-estate.
Remember OGs, do not engage in divisive discussion. We are quite literally all on the same journey. If this fellow thinks a mod is poisoning the well, we should ask him what he finds the bigger picture at play is. If he is a true free thinker the discussion will be rich in ideas and suggestions and ultimately like always this sub will work towards the truth. Don't fight him, don't take him at face value, just simply engage him with some free thought and big picture ideas. You'll know by the course of discussion if you need to continue because we all know when someone is trying to divide after a certain point. We got this, you got this. Continue with the spirit of the sub, question everything, but do it knowing we are all in this together. If someone is unwilling to accept that truth, that is your red flag

And what happens if one the preselected mods can't perform duties during your six month period? We all get to run naked through the subreddit?
n/a divethelake 2017-01-12
still better than being spoonfed fake information by mods who represent big media

Right. If you're so fucking concerned, make your own subreddit. Otherwise I have a sock that is in need of a place in which I can stuff it.

... There's only been one mod added in the past year.

I support the mods and their methods they are forced to employ to combat mainstream-hivemind brigaders.

Ok for those who feel this is over the top:
This is a conspiracy SubReddit. Sometime we do stumble on something that is legitimate but lack the proper evidence. That is why it is here.
So being paranoid is part of the mystic of this sub.
