Help On Food
14 2017-01-15 by 3nzy123
So I have heard a lot of people talking about what is good to ingest and not to ingest and was wondering if someone could shed some light on this. Like what foods are organic where i can find them etc. Thanks!

What kind of food? Vegetables, fruits, or meat? Being pretty vague, OP...
n/a 3nzy123 2017-01-15
Uh sorry, i mean all foods. I am not very good at explaining my point

Grow perennials on top of buried wood (decayed) unsuitable for firewood.
Grow collards too, they are survivors in the cold

Not a green thumb myself, so, I cannot full respond. I'm a meat eater who grows potatoes in a bucket... I know the ways, just don't (personal opinion and needs). Meat for protein, potatoes for the alcohol. Cheers!

Why does it matter if it's organic or not?
Don't fall guilty of the 'naturalistic fallacy'.
n/a Putin_loves_cats 2017-01-15
Why do you care if OP is looking for organic options?
n/a Rockran 2017-01-15
I care about the sharing of the truth.
The OP is falling for the naturalistic fallacy - Which holds that if something is natural, then it is superior to any alternatives.
The truth is that something can be artificial, and be superior to natural sources.
n/a Putin_loves_cats 2017-01-15
Sounds to me like you're falling for the $cience fallacy. Why discourage OP from being organic and seeking more natural products? Lil fishy, Rocky...
n/a Rockran 2017-01-15
It's a logical fallacy. That's why.
n/a Putin_loves_cats 2017-01-15
No it's not...

Look up alkalizing/acidic list of foods. You want to keep a balance ph level so make sure you eat a lot of alkalizing foods to help you digest your proteins and carbs which are acidic.
Good lean meats: turkey breast, chicken breast, egg whites, bison, white fish (cod, Maui, halibut) Bacon is the hardest meat to digest so it's really hard on your system.
Good carbs: sweet and red potatoes, brown rice, quinoa, oatmeal.
Good fats: peanut butter, almond butter, avocado (I cut fats out when I diet tho)
Eat the above with veggies (alkalizing food) to help digest.
Also, take probiotics and enzymes with your meals. Your body already produces enzymes but if you take extra the enzymes will go to your stomach and help break down the food in your stomach. And make sure you drink a gallon of water a day to help flush toxins out.
I'm a bodybuilder so this is my job lol lemme know if you have any questions or need further explanation.
n/a 3nzy123 2017-01-15
Do you think I could get my carbs from my fruit?
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
You can... but don't overdo the fruit bc it's high in sugar. The right timing to eat fruit is when u wake up (breakfast) And post workout.
The key to losing weight is keeping your insulin levels at a bay. When ppl eat sugary foods it's spikes their insulin which shuts down their body from burning fat. Just remember to eat carbs when you wake up and around your workouts. The rest of the meals should be protein and veggies. Eat 6 small meals a day... if you're not used to eating 6 meals then start with fast digesting proteins which is egg whites, turkey breast, white fish or protein powder (Isopure)

Aren't carbs just sugar?
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Yes, which is why you have to eat right type of carbs at the right timing.
Simple carbs are BAD and only time you should eat them is post workout. Simple carbs spike your insulin which you don't want. Only time you can spike your insulin without any harm is post workout.
Complex carbs have sugar but they don't spike your insulin. They are low-glycemic, which means they don't spike your insulin

Add cinnamin pills to your diet to up the metabolism, add antioxidants and most importantly even out / regulate your blood sugar, would be helpful for low calorie diet

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

You're right about the headache. Three days in I decided "fuck it" and buckled. Ate a bunch of junk food and I stopped feeling dizzy, faint, and my headache stopped. I'm not diabetic or anything, just fat. It opened my eyes.
It's insane what they do to hook you on this garbage. I'm starting my detox tomorrow and I'll smoke weed through my weekend to fight the headaches.
Fasted cardio is great, too. I feel more energetic exercising while 16 hours in to a fast. Hell, eating anything that isn't a vegetable or some jerky typically makes me juuust lethargic enough to exercise less.
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
I diet down from 20% bf to 5% 3x a year. When I'm not dieting I pretty much eat shit lol. Every time I start my diet those headaches get to me. They are so fkin annoying and it seems like nothing works. I can't imagine how much toxins we feed our bodies. It definitely shows by the withdrawals. The first two weeks is a kicker but once you get through those 2 weeks it's a smooth ride.
n/a OrchardGhost 2017-01-15
I remember the first time I did it, I also had the flu. It was like hell on earth. But in the end the flu helped cause I didn't want to eat anything.
I'm sitting at a sexy 35% BF, so I'm definitely ready to drop this crap. Lost 20lbs in a month just by switching to sugar-free Rockstar and minimally unprocessed foods (the Rockstar was my exception).
Anyone that wants to cut crap from their life, don't cut cold turkey. But do it quickly. I'm starting in the morning and I'm already emotionally preparing for the pain.
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Try walking on a empty stomach right when you wake up for 30 mins 6x days a week and stay committed. You will see a change quick.
The reason why "Fasted cardio" works is bc you been sleeping for 8 hours which means your in a fasted state. You have nothing in your stomach when you start walking on treadmill. The way your body burn is... First it burns carbs, then fat, the can dip into muscle.
So, if you walked on treadmill mid day with food in your belly, first 15 mins will be spent on burning off carbs.. then it will start burning fat.
Fasted cardio, you have no carbs in your system so it by passes and burns fat immediately.
This is the fasted way that I've notice, paired with a clean diet

Is my typical go-to. I live in a pretty rainy climate, so I'll probably substitute walking with rowing, but thanks for the suggestion. I'll give it a go or two.
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Rowing is good too!!
n/a bananawhom 2017-01-15
All foods are organic.
Do not eat inorganic foods. Unless you are some kind of robot.
n/a 911bodysnatchers322 2017-01-15
A lot of what you eat is inorganic. Have you ever had parm cheese from kraft, the kind you shake (sawdust)? Well several years ago they switched to cellulose (yep, that's wood), but before that they used inorganic silicon dioxide. SAND lol
or powdered glass, depending on how you want to look at it.
n/a bananawhom 2017-01-15
TIL that I can eat sand!
I am going to save so much on groceries!
n/a Flat_Earth-Fat_Girth 2017-01-15
I'd suggest you tackle it head on knowing everything that touches your skin and ingested is what you are made of.
You want to be made with the proper stuff, generally a lot of oxygen rich foods.
Eat as much non-GMO as you can. Fruits and veggies. Fruits mainly, lemons are good for you as are berries.
Beyond that you should look into herbs to make into teas, don't fall for packaged stuff make it yourself.
The worst things of all is CARBS. Avoid as much carbs as possible. They are taking all fats out and replacing it with carbs!
Sugars are the biggest problem we face! It's a carb, sugar in fruits is good, juice it's not. Watch what you eat.
On top of that watch which soap you use. Eat herbal supplements and wash your hair with natural stuff.
Exercise to move your lymphatic system.
Have a cold shower every day increasingly more cold as the colder you are used to the stronger your blood circulation is.
If you fast you reap benefits. If you are looking for spiritual/mental health I suggest you take natural turmeric every day with lemon.
Good luck you can do anything but the more you avoid carbs the better.
This is a write up if you want more I can give more.
Eat things that pump oxygen into your body and exercise.
n/a 3nzy123 2017-01-15
Hmm thank you :)

Psilocybe cubensis is a good start, Then sustenence. Start with the fungi though.
n/a Flat_Earth-Fat_Girth 2017-01-15
Ya and this
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
Best place to find them is your back yard. Grow your own food, you won't regret it.
n/a Carlos_Dangers_wang 2017-01-15
I've been watching this guy. He's kind of inspiring.
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
There's nothing like knowing exactly what your food is and its a lot of fun to see your efforts result in something you can actually eat. Being part of the process is extremely grounding and good for your whole being.
n/a Carlos_Dangers_wang 2017-01-15
I'm only really discovering this in the last few years. We've got an extensive garden started now, can't wait for spring. I also live in a state where cannabis is legal.
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
Nah, no margaritas for me. I'll take what you're having.
n/a Carlos_Dangers_wang 2017-01-15
Both, on a hot summer evening at sunset, listening to Jimmy Buffet.
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
haha alright, i'm in. I need some relaxing before April when the barn turns into a 24/7 maternity ward and neo-natal unit.
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Man, I just rented a new house and they have a set up for a garden. Pretty stoked
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15

I wonder if they will question me If i start digging and building a war bunker? lol
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
Well, you're just building a wine cellar for those grapes you grew, right?
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Hahaha
n/a 911bodysnatchers322 2017-01-15
I made a window box this winter and put those fabric baskets in it with my pepper plants, elephant garlic and some green onion roots from the store. They've been growing all winter. Even when it was 20 degrees outside and a foot and a half of snow.
n/a GoFyourself2x 2017-01-15
Damn, I'm actually really fkin stoked. I wanna grow Tomato, green and red onion, garlic, lemons, squash. Maybe potato? How long you been growing? Any tips are YouTube videos you recommend?
n/a KlehmM 2017-01-15
I agree. Hunting, trapping, foraging wild edibles, and gardening, are probably the best options for knowing what you're ingesting
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
Milk, eggs and meat can also be raised. We have some goats, sheep and chickens. The cost of livestock is a good deal more to invest than gardening or hunting for sure.
n/a PM_ME_UR_GLIPGLOPS 2017-01-15
And NOT with fluoridated water!!
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
right on
n/a ko_28 2017-01-15
unfortunately, there are tons of chemicals in most aquifers and city water systems, both additives and industrial / agricultural runoff.
+1 growing own food though. badass in general.
n/a thatlostshakerofsalt 2017-01-15
That's true which is why we left civilisation for a pretty remote spot, but one alternative to using municipal water for growing your garden in urban/suburban areas is rain collection.

Have a look at urban foraging i recommend eating weeds purselane, fathen and dandelion my favorites really great stuff. BE FUCKING CAREFUL and study up first, internet study will do just type urban foraging learn were and what to forage. Learn this you will spin, our healthiest foods and medicines are all around us and we look upon them with disdain spray poison on them lol.
n/a Carlos_Dangers_wang 2017-01-15
You ever find ramps? We tried last year, had no luck.
n/a Ashitcunt 2017-01-15
I haven't seen one irl i don't think we have them here, some of the stuff used to be common is getting rare very sad
n/a Carlos_Dangers_wang 2017-01-15
I could swear I remember them as a kid all over. Same with morels.
n/a Ashitcunt 2017-01-15
Things are changing and im scared i blame pesticides climate change herbicides and matured lawns. I moved to rich person town and i managed to bring alot of the weeds back much to the horror of the neighbors lol .
n/a elfelle 2017-01-15
Don't eat fish, meat, or dairy...or any animal product and buy at farmer's markets.
n/a OrchardGhost 2017-01-15
I just planted some seeds for the first time in my adult life. Got them sitting in the window until spring, and I'm awaiting sprouts.
All non-GMO, all edible. One just for fun. Scallions, green beans, Oregon Giant Peas, spinach, Roma tomatoes, cilantro, basil, carrots, lavender, all foods I could eat for weeks on end.
n/a threbamby 2017-01-15
Gonna take this chance to promote juicing.
Get yourself a cheap juicer and start juicing fruits and vegetables. I did a juice fast for a week and felt incredible afterwards. My palette reset and suddenly the kinds of foods I was able to enjoy completely changed. I also feel completely different from before. Try to avoid excessive amounts of animal products. I wasn't a believer in juicing before but now I'm convinced it is the way to go. Don't need caffeine anymore, don't need to eat excessively just to feel energy. Indigestion, stomach pains and headaches - gone.
Also, it's a great way to get water intake without drinking tap water, so you can get nutrients and avoid fluoride at the same time! The other big benefits is if you can't afford organic fruits and vegetables you can at least get rid of much of the fibrous content and reducing the amounts of pesticides you consume.
