That's not entirely accurate. He can't fix a typo once he sends the message. I'm pretty good about fixing typos, but sometimes when I'm typing excitedly I miss them. He also only mentioned F-17's once. Had he done it multiple times than I'd believe it was intentional and he was bullshitting.
In a text with him he said he is thinking it's just reaction to a credible threat. I find that more plausible than anything. Especially given the hostility surrounding this inauguration.

Nope. Radar doesn't work that way. While a stealth aircraft could, vanish off of radar, things like F15's, F16, F18's, and other support craft...can't. Full stop. There's no way to classify radar returns, or modify them. Hell, even doing so would be a bad idea, leading up to a chance for a similar situation to what happened in Cali when a F4 phantom collided with an airliner. The ground control had no clue the fighter was there.

That display isn't radar, it's transponder returns. For that matter, almost all ATC radar runs run in transponder interrogation mode, "mode 2." What you think of as radar is called "Skin Paint Return." Civilian radars almost never operate in this mode, and, when they do, the information returned does not give transponder numbers and wouldn't be displayed on this site, either.

This is not impossible but very unlikely. IMO, I don't believe (with the exception of North Korea) that any two or more states at war will use nuclear weapons ever again. Communism is almost dead and capitalism is spreading more than ever. People like toys and shiny things. The world could never recover from a nuclear war. Not necessarily because of the destruction but the lack of trust. I'm sure Russia and the United States trust each other as far as they can throw one another but they trust enough to believe neither wants Mutually Assured Destruction.

The original reason for the hype was his ex army mate on fb who still had friends in the army were put on 'd3 roundhouse status'. It was worked out through Wikipedia that 'd3' stands for defcon 3 and 'roundhouse' is the codeword for a defcon 3 excercise.

I pulled everything because like you just said, people with more knowledge than me were quick to find that that was code for an exercise. I got a little anxious/excited and posted prematurely as well.
I've never really know the guy to be a bullshitter, but I also kind of feel like he was making it seem worse than it all was.
Pretty certain it was all precautionary and just making sure all possible security measures are in place. Not just in DC, but probably the entire eastern seaboard.
