I'm near Tampa and I had a similar experience last night around 3am. Kind of hard to pinpoint because I was in bed but I definitely remember being roused by a massive boom last night.

I'm near Tampa too and didn't hear the boom last night but I've been hearing rumbling noises at night for a few years. I'm a native to the area and don't remember hearing those noises when I was younger so I have no idea what the source is.

I really want to hear this in person. In the videos it sounds like you can't even tell which direction it's coming from. I mean ppl pan the camera and there's no change in volume. When I first saw that compilation last year, I couldn't stop watching it.

Right? It sounds like a 300ft tall elk made of rusty metal. The one in BC could be a mining operation with the correct conditions for sound to travel really far/clearly, but that's usually when it's super-cold with little snow. I can't even imagine a good explanation for the others. I've seen comments that say it sounds like when you straighten out a blade for a grader, but even that wouldn't be as loud unless you were close, and it wouldn't be as sustained.

I'm lake county. Crazy is I live close to Renningers flea market. They do a civil war reenactment often and you hear cannons go off like crazy. I also live in what others would call the country part of FL (Lake County) and I have a neighbor who has a gun range on his property and we hear shots fired constantly but that's nothing.

One night we heard booms that sounded extreme so my husband a marine went outside to check out the noise and came back in with this look in his eyes I've never seen. He said you need to see this. I kept saying what? What? Your scaring me! I'm freaking cause all I hear is explosions. I get outside and look behind the house where he's pointing. It looked so scary. Like a bomb went off a few miles behind our house, fire and a bunch of small bombs going up and exploding with it. I've only see war in movies and wow was I in a motion picture? The neighbor also ex marine came out at the same time and the look in his eyes was just as scary. They both said let's get out of here. He said get the kids out of bed and grab anything I could we would need cause we need to go and quickly. Needless to say I'm pooping my pants (not literally but almost). As it was happening it wasn't on the news cause it was happening so fast. We get in the car with the kids and not without weapons and turn on the radio and finally find out what it really was. Still pretty scary. The Blue Rhino propane plant had a fire. It's not very far from our house and luckily they got it in check before the major boom which would've blasted for miles. Now I look back and my husband and I joke about it as we tell the story. I guess seeing what you do in the military changes you and your on red alert. He said it looked like only things he's seen in the military.

I live in Lake County. Didn't hear or feel anything. However, this post just reminded me of the time I did hear and feel two loud booms this past July. I even went on Facebook and asked if anyone else heard and felt what sounded like two sonic booms. No one did. Maybe our experiences come from the same source, whatever source that may be.
