PSA to R/conspiracy

I see a lot of people whining about posts that don't have mass amounts of hard evidence backing them up. Can we please remember what this sub Reddit is all about? Its about all conspiracies that we find interesting. We can't claim a conspiracy is bullshit because there isn't hard proof when we disagree with it. People need to chill and realize that this isn't about News and facts. While some evidence is important to substantiate the realness of a conspiracy, we must remember a true conspiracy is an agreement to act on certain terms by usually powerful people to get what they want. Usually, evidence is impossible to find at the beginning of the unearthing of a conspiracy. We must know that this sub in fact, focuses on conspiracies and not news headlines.

When evidence has been promised within the next 24 hours several time and never delivered, it starts to look more like a bullshit conspiracy though. One of the more popular ones right now on this sub has been built up like that more than once and never delivered.

The point of a "conspiracy theory" is that it is an explanation of "evidence".
It's not just about thinking up some random idea and claiming it is a theory - it is about gathering evidence and piecing it together into some sort of coherent narrative.
The Bourne Identity is not a conspiracy theory... but someone was able to think up the idea of a government conspiracy to assassinate prominent people using mind-controlled 'drones'.
The difference between the Bourne Identity and an actual conspiracy theory is evidence. Without evidence, all you have is a good story, not a "conspiracy theory".

Connecting the dots, since life isn't just a sequence of random events. Ross tells Daniels at the start of the Bourse Ultimatum, "What connects the dots"?

Batboy it is then.

The "hotsheets".

I agree, but every time trump tweets it doesn't belong here. Every time some random blog decides to point the finger at the "confirmed white house leaker" it doesn't belong here.
There is evidence involved in conspiracy discussions, claims that can be easily disproven or would require a massive stretch to prove shouldn't be part of this sub.

Yeah agree, we don't need a book of hard facts to identify a conspiracy, it wouldn't even be a conspiracy then. All we need is some evidence that gives the conspiracy room to breathe

I agree.
There are people that use graphs to connect the dots. Something something method, which is very interesting and entertaining.
Intuition plays a big part in alternative ideas, and this sub seems to attract people that don't automatically believe stuff they are fed or told.

This isn't a fiction writing sub for short stories, which is what Making claims with zero evidence is.

We aren't a judge and jury here. Speculations are what I love about this place.

I like speculating about 911 or real shit not trumps make believe bs. Ain't nobody got time for that. Besides there's already a sub for that...
n/a sthh 2017-03-05
That is incorrect. That is how you end up with ridiculously stupid things. You cannot come up with a conspiracy and then go looking for shit that "proves it". If you do that all you will get is confirmation bias and people reaching really hard/taking shit out of context.
Take 9/11-- Lots of evidence that some fishy shit was going on, timelines screwy, a lot of people watched it on TV, massive amounts of conflicting reports is what drives the conspiracy and makes it plausible.
I'm not saying you need 'hard' proof. But I am saying that there is entirely too much wild speculation here and people using "sources" that are pictures of text and other such dubious bullshit.
When no one has anything substantial you wind up with people like that one guy Seaman or whoever with pizzagate who everyone jerked off too while he strung fuckers along collecting money from patreon. It's ridiculous.

I did say "some evidence is necessary to substantiate the realness of a conspiracy"
I agree with you. There needs to be reason to believe a conspiracy. I guess I'm just saying that it's hard to have conclusive evidence about a conspiracy or else it wouldn't be regarded as a conspiracy
n/a sthh 2017-03-05
I agree with you there, we're not going to get conclusive evidence, but there is a lot of unsubstantiated crap being posted here recently that is just like self posts with no text other than the title
It has gotten really sloppy, is all. Because most of the time no one wants to think critically, they just want their idea validated.
n/a CatboatThemHolyJew 2017-03-05
Yeah. There's been a lot of complete garbage recently. Someone posted a trump tweet with nothing else and it got to the front. Like what????
I wish this sub could go back to what it was in 2014
n/a sthh 2017-03-05
Yeah, and you can't even have discussions and disagree anymore. Which sucks because disagreement and going back and forth about stuff leads to more discoveries. Now people are just like WELL YOU ARE A SHILL or OMG SO BRAINWASHED BY MSM and it's like well man maybe I just see shit different god damn.
Sorry I don't want to just take shit people write on forums as truth like people do with voat :/
