It's been accused of being a CIA false flag document to get people to kill themselves trying to build bombs. The reality is it was written by a 19 year old who, while knowledgeable, didn't do all the research and testing he could have before going to print. It's flawed because of poor research.
Go figure. I guess thats a lesson in darwinism. Those people should have been aware that the things that they read had no oversight other than the author himself. Mixing chemicals is a risky racket by default. There was alot of other useful shit in there though.
Actually yes. When i was kid my uncle tried teaching me about computers and was into all that. I just wanted to learn how to use the computer enough to use dos so i could play z and duke nukem though :/
Hey, buddy. Glad it was you. I saw that envelope go orange and just had the feeling of, "Well, this isn't going to be good." Yeah, Hayduke is a classic. The pseudonym comes from a character in the novel, "The Monkey Wrench Gang," which is a good read if you're looking for one. Scott French and Lee Lapin are amazing though. One of the highlights in Spygame (and there are a lot) is they build out a hardcovered briefcase into a silent death machine- a trigger on top of the case activates a totally silenced mac-10. Brilliant, dangerous stuff!
Hey this was a fun read, thanks. Ever see those survival/life tips cards they put in cigarette packs from waaay back? Nothing like this sort of stuff, but still neat. How to make a simple water filter, using basic household ingredients to make an impromptu fire extinguisher, what to do if attacked by a wild dog, that sort of thing
There are a couple interesting bits, like how to create some chemo from natural sources, but it has so much garbage mixed in with useful items, I wouldn't take it too seriously.
Ive read it. Yeah, all things need to be taken with a heavy grain of salt, especially when it comes to fucking around with chemicals. Alot of the more practical information was worth while though.
I'm specifically talking about the nitric and sulfuric acid recipes fyi. I was a chemist for w uears and I still totally feel out on shit like that. Not entirely sure why normal people would need those though haha.
Haha well "normal" is a subjective term. Totally agree with you, a person needs to understand that mixing chemicals is not something you just willy nilly fuck around with. At work (an industrial water treatment facility) ill use hydrochloric acid to clean the floors when the get bad. Well if i do that and get a huge overflow from sanitation, i need to turn on ventilation and split because chlorine gas doesn't agree with my lungs. But that just goes to show you how easily shit can become hazardous on you
Autocorrect destroyed my comment lol. I just swapped keyboards on my phone, but I swear it looked right when I sent it. But yeah, industrial chemicals aren't something to just cook up without at least reading an msds and some Wikipedia maybe.
Yeah. I mean ill spray the floor down with water, spread a few cups of acid over the floor, scrub it in and let it soak for a bit. If i get a heavy flow of water to much the system cant handle it and will cause an overflow of water on the floor. Well sanitation uses chlorine to clean down in the main plant. Just goes to show you, even when its heavily diluted, that shit just does not mix
One time I mixed up 5gal of aqua regia all at the same time and and found out just how bad chlorine gas is. Blew out our lab for a whole day, and I don't think the swimming pool smell ever completely went away.

I saw an article recently about the author dying.

How about not though? What part of "general thoughts" would illicit this response, logically sound citizen?

We had people do this when I was in highschool (boarding school gets boring) because of this book.
It didn't work, they just started smoking K2 and making themselves dumb instead.

14 year old me got it through a bbs in the 90s, mid to late...
Got freaked out when someone said they reported me and I was in huge trouble, haha.. I was freaked out for a week and realized I'll be ok most likely.
I never really did anything inside it, just read it cause I was a dumb teenager.
