For my money, I think it's that they really do want to believe in a conspiracy, but when they find a hole in it, they are so bummed out that they lash out in the only way they know - which is to flame anything linked to said conspiracy.
i mean like; while i don't doubt some are shills I seem my self running into a lot of idiocy on this sub from charlatans who have spend a month or two reading into things and then feel qualified to espouse their opinions as gospel.
It is actually important to squash the imaginary and false conspracies, their purpose is to deflect from the real conspiracies.
An example:
False conspiracy is Trump and other conservatives claiming that there is mass illegal, in person voting fraud.
True conspiracy: 20-30 millions of voters have been stripped from voter registration lists in the Republican controlled states via that Cross Check list.
Isn't all of this false conspiracies though? Every bad thing that happens now is a "false flag attack" the media have always been untrustworthy but this is a surprise? r/conspiracy is not what I expect any more. I want more on MK Ultra, JFKs assassination, did we go to the moon ect
We also have people who come here just to spread bullshit to make us look like idiots. Those are imho worse than the "debunkers" who come here to be dicks.
If the term conspiracy is a psy op, the use of the word conspiracy has only just reached significant density. It would behoove those who rely on its carefully crafted definition not to continue to cultivate and maintain it. Look at how society changes the definition of words as its needs change. The best example i can think of is the word literally. It can now mean extremely figuratively as opposed to the opposite of.
They are conspiracy theorists of a different type...they believe in this conspiracy theory (is no evidence to support it) that governments are trying to help not hurt society and can do no wrong and the world is a global village where everyone lives America and wants to be like America and that our culture is the best because of all the priducts you can buy that fills your empty souls

People coming to /r/conspiracy to defend the blatant NASA and SpaceX lies and deceptions are the lowest of low.

It's hard for people who believe in science to sit quietly by and listen to flat earth garbage.

as oppose to believe whatever junk people say?
I mean, if something can get debunked quickly, it's probably not a real one.
A good conspiracy is hard to debunk.

What you're looking for is called a circle-jerk.... a safe space where nasty debunkers won't invade your safe space. Ideal for sensitive snowflakes.
