Dallas Emergency Sirens
37 2017-04-08 by mega-icon_building
For over the past 30 mins the emergency sirens have been going off city wide. It is 1230 am. City of Dallas says it's a malfunction, but the timing seems too strange. A hack of some sort perhaps, but it has everybody's attention as I follow it on social media.

Thank you. Didn't know there was a sub for Dallas.

How the fuck does a system like this "malfunction" like this, keeping a whole city up at night? It doesn't, maintenance would've turfed it after the first five minutes.
Warrants more investigation. I'll be waiting.

Didn't this happen years ago in another city. Also city workers doing something quick... Cmon man.

Brother my alarm clock goes off more than 60 seconds i yank the power cord.
Any more news on what went on?

Would you wake up and go to your job to shut off your alarm?
Haven't heard anything definite.

Things can happen when a system is being overhauled. This shouldn't be surprising.

Multiple systems across multiple counties. I live here. Wasn't just Dallas proper but also suburbs on separate systems.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I have not seen one single comment from an official stating that it was a "false alarm".

...also I just can't stop thinking how much data they can be gathering by a city wide reaction and the 911 phone system being jammed up.

Odd timing.

There has been an absurd amount of helicopter traffic over the city I reside in. I live kinda sandwiched between the airport (where an Air National Guard Armory is located) and downtown. Helicopters aren't rare, but it has seriously been one every 5 minutes or so since around 6pm.
Aside from that, there has been kind if a very eerie quiet over the city tonight. Which is also kind of odd.
Weird shit going on everywhere.

In the /r/dallas thread I found this map of all the sirens that went off: http://imgur.com/gallery/J4Lx5
It's city-wide, the entire dallas metroplex. And they're saying it may take 5 HOURS to disable? People are still reporting them going off over 2 hours after it started.
This is just weird.

Also cause airport delays, but was still an accident? https://imgur.com/gallery/RUCxM

Also in Mesquite, Plano, Rowlett, other surround cities of Dallas, Ohio, and Paris. All the the same night around the same time? It all seems pretty suspicious to me tbh.

Any news of where in Ohio? At work but this caught my eye because this whole ordeal is interesting

No idea, finding any information about it has left me with more questions than answers. Tbh Th the most I could get out of a search was on Facebook and Twitter because people are posting like wtf is going on?

Huh, well thank you tho lol. I live in Ohio and I have a decent amount of friends that span the state and I hadn't seen and/or heard anything near me so I was curious because this whole thing is weird.
