Saw a video on r/worldnews showing Turkish bodyguards beating up protesting Americans on American soil. Surely this can't be legal, right? Diplomatic immunity doesn't allow you to beat up civilians in a foreign country, does it?

Diplomatic immunity means you can do that but the country can still kick you out

Probably wont happen. Turkey (erdogan) will not take it lightly. Current relationship between US and Turkey are too important over justice for some civilians.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diplomatic_immunity "It is possible for the official's home country to waive immunity; this tends to happen only when the individual has committed a serious crime, unconnected with their diplomatic role (as opposed to, say, allegations of spying), or has witnessed such a crime. "

Yeah, I saw that video too. Looked like the MPD protected the protesters and fought with the Turks.

Yes, they will likely be kicked out, but won't be charged with anything.

Will our president respond?

Not every asshat in a foreign leader's entourage is a diplomat.

diplomatic immunity do you not understand that word? they can do whatever the fuck they want
