hot af is essential. the sun being an unlimited source of free energy. not to mention a cold micronation would basically turn into a "cult" once the summer after the first winter came to an end and faced with the prospects of another 7-9 month winter the leaders had to convince others to stay. there is a reason people don't live in shanty towns in the artic circle. not to mention food supply will be the number one issue and warm weather require so much fewer calories to survive even not considering that you can barely farm in the north.

are you actually planning this? because I would be seriously interested to help in any way and I actually have very few ties. all my hopes and dreams can be achieved alongside a nomadic life that includes international travel. I don't have any specific preperations beyond a wide range of knowledge and the competency to follow compelx instructuons.... although those two things can be pretty darn useful haha.

food prices on even medium sized island nations are always high and farming for carbohydrates is never going to be economical. resources would be better invested into literal investments(not the shotty stock market kind but real means of production type shit.) I just don't want to join a full communist group that's trying to farm and legal-speak their way into nation status when they're barely surviving. out of the box thinking will lead to the kind of success that might foster semi real international recognition from other nations. it's just the sad state of the world we live in but I actually see a micro natiom such as this as potentially a very desirable place to live rather than something populated by die-hard "cult members" . "sadly" material success (whether collectively shared or not) will bring international recognition faster than basically asking people to call us not not american.

i would go north. The harder a place is to adapt to, the less likely you are to be messed with. The Caribbean was fought over brutally for a long time because its tropical weather. Dont see many people battling over property in the North Canadian Arctic Archipelago (total pop 14k)

I think you will like this...there is a book called "To Build a Ship". It's the story of the "Morningstar". A replica of the ship sits in front of the Tillamook Cheese Factory in Tillamook, Oregon.

Fascinating read about men stranded on the coast of Oregon with no way to get supplies from Astoria once Henry Astor's supply ship stopped coming from New York.

The captain of Astor's ship was the only one who would sail into Tillamook bay. When he retired the men had to find a way to get supplies themselves from Astoria.

One of them...was a master ship-builder. Who just happened to have brought all his hand tools in a steamer trunk.
