Obamacare is a complete disgrace
4 2017-06-19 by LightBringerFlex
This program is a gigantic catastrophe. These idiots at customer service have no power to do anything. They can't even reset a fucking password. For the last 5 years, I have been sending shit back and forth through the mail. They put my card on auto-charge and repeatedly cancel my insurance for non-payment even though its on auto charge. They can't discuss anything over the phone. They have no power to fix anything. They drop the ball all the time. The insurance is expensive as hell. 80% of the places I go to don't even accept the insurance anymore. When one does accept it, I pay about $550 for a short visit.
This is not a problem of stupidy. Its a problem of corruption. They are now targeting functioning systems. Instead of fixing it, they make it worst and then throw up their hands and say, "Oh whoops". As long as these fuckers get kickbacks from corporations, they are happy even if it means ruining 300 million Americans health insurance.
We don't even have an alternative to choose from anymore.

Welcome to capitalism asshole!
n/a LightBringerFlex 2017-06-19
You think this is capitalism? The days of capitalism are long gone. This is corpratocracy.

Imperialism, the Highest Stage of Capitalism:
In order for capitalism to generate greater profits than the home market can yield, the merging of banks and industrial cartels produces finance capitalism—the exportation and investment of capital to countries with underdeveloped economies. In turn, such financial behaviour leads to the division of the world among monopolist business companies and the great powers. Moreover, in the course of colonizing undeveloped countries, business and government eventually will engage in geopolitical conflict over the economic exploitation of large portions of the geographic world and its populaces. Therefore, imperialism is the highest (advanced) stage of capitalism, requiring monopolies (of labour and natural-resource exploitation) and the exportation of finance capital (rather than goods) to sustain colonialism, which is an integral function of said economic model. Furthermore, in the capitalist homeland, the super-profits yielded by the colonial exploitation of a people and their economy permit businessmen to bribe native politicians, labour leaders and the labour aristocracy (upper stratum of the working class) to politically thwart worker revolt (labour strike).

I don't think you understand what capitalism is.
n/a TucanSamBitch 2017-06-19
Universal Healthcare should be the direction we move towards to fix our broken system
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
What makes you entitled to someone's labor?
n/a TucanSamBitch 2017-06-19
What? It would work in the same way other public services do. Are we entitled to a Cops labor? Or a firefighters? They just get paid by the government instead of through a bunch of insurance bullshit.
It's not that hard, it work fine in just about every other 1st world country.
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
So the worlds top neurosurgeon should be paid the same as other doctors?
n/a chiguy 2017-06-19
The worlds top neurosurgeon can operate outside of universal healthcare as a private practitioner that doesn't accept government healthcare. Do you think top doctors currently exist in every other developed country with universal healthcare?
n/a truspiracy 2017-06-19
republican talking points much? at least don't pick the the fakest ones. government healthcare doesn't regulate doctor pay
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
What makes me not entitled to your labor.
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
Huh?
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Your boss owns your labor, fam
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
I'm compensated for my labor. Do you know how much it costs to employ someone?
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Yes. Your boss owns it. He purchases your labor and makes bank on it. You don't get how this works, do you?
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
I don't think you do. I don't think you've ever been in the position to hire anyone or that you know anything about how businesses work.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Ok fam.
n/a Girlforgeeks 2017-06-19
Your boss gets an UNFAIR share of your labor.
Whether you like capitalism (actually were programmed to voluntarily give up what you're entitled to) or not- your labor should be equal to your comfortable survival.
For half of Americans, it's not.
n/a AK-Voronsky 2017-06-19
Do you feel you're fairly compensated for your labor? Do you feel that everyone is?

Don't bother trying to talk sense into people on Medicaid. They will never understand what it is like to be a hard working person, or a small business owner.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
So true! One of my employees was recently talking about her federal tax return and asked me if I had got my check yet... I told her I don't get a check from the IRS, I send them one! She didn't believe me! She had no idea that actual people paid taxes into the Federal government! Mind blowing!
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
We have so much in common! Nice to meet you! My husband owned his own business. So I know all about paying taxes and not getting anything back.
Because of Obamacare, my husband was forced to sell his business last year (before he ended up going bankrupt).
n/a lily_levasseur 2017-06-19
Donnagail & floridamom! Hooray!
Keep injecting common sense in here, y'all.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
:-)
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
You are easily the most ignorant person on /r/conspiracy and it's near impossible to be more ignorant than some of the people around here.
I have enough sense to know people like you are the problem. No sweat, I'm the antidote, old lady.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
If there were not people like me (who work hard and pay taxes) then you wouldn't have free insurance. So I fail to see how I am the problem.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
I worked hard up until the moment some crack head hit me with a car. You are boiling my existence down and know nothing about the circumstance. Therefore you're rendered ignorant on the subject. We still pay taxes. I'm a stay at home dad and as soon as my doctor says go, believe me, I'll be out there making sure people like you aren't in positions of power anymore.
n/a TucanSamBitch 2017-06-19
I work hard and pay taxes, yet I still want universal healthcare. There's plenty of countries that have it and wait for it, pay taxes and work hard.
n/a Girlforgeeks 2017-06-19
I am a small business owner.
I have one employee- so very small.
I make money off his labor bc it's the way it works.
At any time, he can take the skills I've taught him and start his own business doing the same Thing- in competition with me.
As long as I pay him enough to survive on and save the seed money for equipment.
So I can just NOT pay him enough for all that, right?
Instead, Use my excess profit off of him to bribe local government officials and change the laws so he can't ever create a competition for me.
That's what's happened in the US.
n/a Maedb 2017-06-19
Do you say that to uninsured people sitting in emergency rooms? Does their response change anything about the reality of the situation and how we can deal with it as a nation?
n/a Nindzya 2017-06-19
Your labor is NEVER for just your own benefit. Government and modern society would cease to function if everyone was just an entitled ass who said "I shouldn't have to contribute to the greater good!"
Our government entitles us to an acceptable quality of life in return for small amounts of compensation.
n/a TomHanksRapesKids 2017-06-19
Our government is an over bloated war machine that literally makes us less safe in order to justify their huge budgets and worthless existence. Can I opt out?
n/a Nindzya 2017-06-19
Sure, leave.
n/a Girlforgeeks 2017-06-19
Are you not entitled to your own?
Or it's just ok if it's an owner stealing the labor of his employees, but not if the employees want a FAIR share of their own production?
Fair being enough to live on comfortably and not 5 houses for the one rich guy.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
I don't know what choice we have at this point but Universal... we are so far past anything that can be fixed.
n/a lily_levasseur 2017-06-19
Are you serious? Think about this now:
What program have you ever seen federalized that those guys didn't one hundred percent totally screw up? You want them to control your healthcare? For real?
I can't get past this. It's like no one has ever noticed how incompetent & self-serving the American government is.
n/a TucanSamBitch 2017-06-19
If other countries can do it I see no reason why we can not
n/a Girlforgeeks 2017-06-19
Um.
Medicaid and Medicare work like a charm.
And they are federalized health care.
Sure it costs money. But so do the 80$ million bonuses YEARLY every insurance company CEO gets.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Haha wait for the new health "care"!
Obummer care works in my state. Zero copay. 1 dollar for prescriptions. I don't have to pay for shit.
n/a LightBringerFlex 2017-06-19
hard to believe.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Then don't believe me. I have the same insurance that the hacks in government do. Medicaid for life.
n/a LightBringerFlex 2017-06-19
Oh Medicaid is great. We should have all medicaid.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Hell yeah, man. Wish I didn't need it, but I do. I'm lucky. We don't have to worry... until they take it away :)
n/a LightBringerFlex 2017-06-19
Which they eventually will unless we replace our whole government.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Let's get busy.
It's funny, too. I had health insurance right when obama care was implemented and I had to pay 5k before they paid for anything. It was absurd.
n/a AK-Voronsky 2017-06-19
Sounds like its time for a workers government. Of the workers, by the workers, and for the workers.
n/a LightBringerFlex 2017-06-19
Damn. That's an awesome slogan actually.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
So you can have "Medicad for life", my family's premiums have increased from $8,000 a year to over $24,000 in the past 5 years.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
I'm lopping up those tears and rubbing my prescribed ointment all over my face.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
I think the words you are looking for are "thank you"
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
You don't live in my state. I thank my neighbors and comrades every day.
It's a state subsidy.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
I'm the same as you and understand exactly what you are going through. It makes me so angry that hard working people have to pay through the nose for health insurance, but lazy people with no job get everything for free.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
Exactly! I am not totally opposed to government assistance as a safety net (as it was intended) unfortunately it becomes a lifestyle spanning generations for most.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
Yes, you are right. I was not raised in a family that took government assistance for anything. I was raised that if you needed something, you got a job. If that job wasn't enough, then I worked two jobs at times. I'm tired of my tax dollars paying for people to sit on their butts!
n/a Nindzya 2017-06-19
This argument is fucking retarded because minimum wage has not scaled with inflation. Sometimes two jobs still isn't enough because capitalism allows employers to be greedy as fucking possible and pay as little as possible.
I've worked two jobs at a time before and it was hard work, but it paid off. I stopped going to school so I could provide for a family my disabled girlfriend and I had begun. Now I've thankfully worked hard enough that I don't make two minimum wage jobs and I pay my share of taxes in the hopes nobody else will ever suffer through that hell again.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
Nice language. You sound very mature.
n/a Nindzya 2017-06-19
thanks for the compliments but you ignored the actual point of the post
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
There is nothing wrong with hard work.
n/a Nindzya 2017-06-19
I agree. People should put effort into their work, especially at a job where people are depending on your labor. I also believe people should be compensated appropriately.
n/a cgamonitor 2017-06-19
There is nothing wrong with being able to live on 40 hours a week. It has always been that way until recently, the fat cats are too greedy now.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
You two have no idea what you're talking about.
n/a Sendmedickpix1 2017-06-19
What lifestyle do they abuse Medicaid for?
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Sorry a guy high on cocaine took a left in front of me while I was on my bike. I broke my right arm and have nerve damage. I can't lift more than ten pounds. I couldn't even hold my newborn daughter. Lost my job. How's your foot taste, lady?
What's it like to be a walking Fox News talking point?
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
I'm sure there is some job you could do.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Why don't you ask my doctor for me. As soon as I'm cleared, I'm stop taking your hard earned money.
n/a cgamonitor 2017-06-19
It should make you more mad how much is spent on wars. We haven't really needed to be in any war since WW2.
n/a UnderwritingRules 2017-06-19
The Florida Senate in 2015 approved a Medicaid expansion plan, but it was rejected by Gov. Rick Scott (R) and the state House.
Sounds like you could've had some help, but your state government sucks.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
I don't need my state or federal government to help me, I am fine paying for what my family needs... I just resent the fact that I also pay for other people to have what they need against my will.
n/a UnderwritingRules 2017-06-19
But if you're on Obamacare, which you said you were, you're already getting help from the federal government.
What did you have prior to Obamacare? Since I'm guessing you don't get insurance from your employer.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
I am not on Obamacare, employer insurance. But it is all one big clusterfuck with the same companies providing both.
n/a DonnaGail 2017-06-19
Get a job and get off you butt.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
I was hit by a car and am now disabled. But thanks for being a jerk.
n/a FloridaMom13 2017-06-19
Trust me, someone is paying for your shit.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-19
Hopefully you.
n/a Loffler 2017-06-19
The problem isn't Obamacare, the problem is our broken health insurance system. Obamacare was lipstick on a pig.
n/a lily_levasseur 2017-06-19
"A pig in a tutu is still just a pig"
n/a lastonedown1 2017-06-19
Then why just not use it?
n/a bannanaflame 2017-06-19
Obamacare has been extremely effective. Timeline for single payer has been pushed up 25-50 years. I'll heat my hat if there isn't a mostly functional government funded and controlled single payer healthcare system accessible to all US residents before 2030.
n/a lily_levasseur 2017-06-19
How many counties have zero insurance providers now?
How may families saw their premiums double/triple?
n/a bannanaflame 2017-06-19
Exactly as intended
n/a lily_levasseur 2017-06-19
Oooooo. You're sneaky.
