Yeah, that seemed a bit suspicious to me. Why would you develop an incredibly smart AI that could communicate so well that people believe they are talking to a human and then be dumb enough to have it automatically open any link you send to it?
Have you ever played WoW? The bots on that game were programmed to respond in case an admin saw them botting around. I used to mess with bots on WoW all the time and inject commands to have them warp out the area or drop items.
While I've never actually played WoW, I've seen bots like that in other games. They were nowhere near as sophisticated as the ones that were being proposed in the original post.
But that doesn't really matter now anyway now that a few other users in this thread were able to reproduce the exact same response times just by sending the phishing links to their own alt accounts and each other. It seems to be Reddit's spam filter that is triggering the link using the Amazon IP address. It was an interesting idea to think about!
You should consider yourself blessed the mods here are on your side. I feel sorry for all of the educated people who live in reality. You guys have gone off the deep end.
Really now? I can provide more proof if you'd like.
Hmm. The page source on the right shows the timestamp that I sent the message (couldnt screenshot the mouse over, sorry) , and what do you know, all of 12 seconds later it is opened by an amazon aws IP address, mozilla 5.0, macintosh os.
I did. And I'm saying yes, perhaps your spam filter picked it up when you opened the page and looked at the link (not necessarily clicked on it, but when the link appeared on your page the spam filter "clicked on it"). I am saying that these accounts instantly open that link. In the middle of the night, when they haven't been posting, whatever. Within 15 seconds.
Yep, see I was into it at first because one of the IP's in the OP was configured differently. But then I just had to test it myself and noticed the PM's weren't going through and that I was getting hit by AWS almost instantly.
That explains it. If this was true this would have been a good method to get data from which to learn distinguishing between bots and non-bots. I am currently selecting input by hand.
Yeah building the initial datasets by hand would be the best way to go, even the AI bots I've built for fun were amazingly hard to detect, really relied on an operator error.
I sent the link through PM, at around 1:30 last night. It is the first picture. Heres another one I just sent. http://imgur.com/a/oEoaD
Another user does appear to be right, it is a reddit spam filter. This makes a lot of sense, I get it now. Would explain why you don't recieve the message. Apparently I was just sent one as well. Prevents bots from sending spam ads and links and whatnot to people. Im glad I could actually get to the bottom of this. Like i said in an original post, debunking OP is always half the fun.
And tell this story to the other people who can't handle people not aligning with their beliefs. Blame everyone else but yourself. You didn't get to the bottom of this, the other dude did.
Nobody here needs to apologize, and accusing people of harassment seems to be your go-to...
You chose to come here, post, and continue replying to the "harassment". Both of you were being honest and have found a possible explanation for the confusion. Kudos.
It is that I am currently not able to verify it myself. I trusted the user his research. Other people confirming it made it seem more authentic and reinforced my believe for it to be true. Something that people that want to influence us (by bots for example) would exploit as well. This is sadly a weakness we have as humans, but on the other hand also helps us to develop. This is why we have science.
Jesus christ you should never ever believe anything on this sub because a bunch of others believe it too, that's a hilariously bad stance to take, the idea that bots are actually getting in clear and concise arguments with users is fucking sci fi fantasy and shouldnt be taken seriously.
It is not that I just believe it, but that I have no way to verify it at the moment (and for several weeks). I just gave my input. It does not matter if it turns out to be fake, that is why I am still researching this. I've seen enough (and made screenshots) for me to believe there is something happening.
There is no need for the bots to be sentient to be able to convince people they are real.
It's pretty fucked up, dude sent me(and a bunch of others) a link phishing for my i.p. address, harasses people calling them shills when me and some people don't even click the links, yet still calls them shills. This is the type of shit that gets subs in trouble, witch hunting/doxxes. I get it, they want to find a way to prove people are shills, but this is kind of fucked up.
It's incredibly absurd. I love how the mods here allow witch hunts. I don't know how they allow this on Reddit. What they are doing is against site wide rules and if Reddit admin had any spine, they'd shut this place down.
I love how I'm a grown ass man, wearing a Roberto Luongo jersey tee, sitting in my living with my phone in my hand and you think that I'm some kind of minimum wage narrative pusher.
It's a jersey tee. You know the ones with a name and number on the back. The more you guys talk, the more apparent it is to me why people don't take this sub seriously.
I believe that it is a mix of the two. It is an aggregator platform that directs "handlers" where to respond to. However, many of these accounts do exhibit bot like activity, very strange posts, while the "handler" is offline. These barely-understandable comments garner a few upvotes here and there to make the account seem legit. Many of them start discussion. Once it gets a reply, a "handler" is called in. At least this is how it seems to me.
No. As the OP in that thread posted his information, I tested out B-l-a-s-z-e capabilities by creating a link off of Youtube Rick Roll original video and clicking it myself. Then, I submitted that link to a subreddit that I made private. I screenshotted the whole thing.
Note the first row. This is what shows when I, an actual user on a device, click on a link. The box on the right titled "Hostname" is blank. Now notice the "redditbot" entry below. It clearly says "amazon AWS" as hostname. This means the Reddit bots are hosted on Amazon servers, and the other ones as well.
Also, the latest update to the story is that Reddit spam filters are now blocking B-l-a-s-z-e links as spam, Bit.ly also refuses to accept those links (though this worked AFAIK) and the site itself seems to be under some kind of attack. This means there is some truth to the story, though I'm guessing it's all too easy to handwave and mock for that sweet, sweet pity karma.
OP has offered no proof that they ever tested this on themselves or their friends, they claimed they did successfully even after reddit started filtering the link, so that's at least 1 lie. They've also said it works if sending from a new account, I tried, again another lie.

That dude who posted it is full of shit. He harasses people on a regular basis.
I'm sure this isn't the only messages he's sent. Even when confronted with the truth, he keeps accusing people.
n/a TrumpRusConspiracy 2017-06-20
Yeah, I've just started ignoring him. He likes to start stuff
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
Judging from his post history, he's a lonely, sad guy. Bad (or sick) man.
n/a Ferfrendongles 2017-06-20
ayyyy
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
If you need to talk or anything, feel free to PM me. Seems like you're in a tough spot. Been a rough few years for you, it seems
n/a Ferfrendongles 2017-06-20
hahaha so manipulative.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
Ok. If you feel that way. The invite is open.

Lol way to smoke yourself out.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
Yeah, you got me. I grabbed that cap from a top minds post.
n/a wh40k_Junkie 2017-06-20
Also it's cool how you can answer so fast
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
Yeah man. When I hold and pull down on my phone, it refreshes and the message pops up.
You should be a police. You're very good at detective.
n/a wh40k_Junkie 2017-06-20
Should be a police? You should learn human syntax bot.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
You've obviously never watched The Wire.
n/a wh40k_Junkie 2017-06-20
I did, and with that context, it should be "you should be po-lice", not a police
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
Not true. But you know, you're the top mind detective
n/a varoksas 2017-06-20
holy shit you are so delusional that you actually think you are arguing with a bot hahahahahaha.

n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20

So why is it that your account instantly opened a message from an AmazonAWS IP address? Within 12 seconds. I genuinely want to understand.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
You never sent me a link. Nice try.
And also, check my history. I'm on Reddit all day son. All day.

Sure, when you open the page. But within 12 seconds of being sent, every time on every one of these accounts?
n/a LetsSmashStacks 2017-06-20
Did you open that link I sent you? I just did it with the OP of that thread, same thing happened. Its a spam filter lol
n/a ShillyMadison 2017-06-20

I highly doubt that is the user agent your browser uses... Also I've done it to multiple of my own accounts now.
Its not my spam filter, its reddits. I wasn't even logged into the account I sent it to and still got the AWS visit.
n/a ShillyMadison 2017-06-20
Ooooooh i get it now holy shit lmao. Got a lil excited for this conspiracy huh
n/a LetsSmashStacks 2017-06-20

Oh no he sent you a link, it's just been caught up in a spam filter. The visits from the aws servers are reddits link checkers.
n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
I'm not sure what you mean.
So he sends a link, it gets caught and they think they've cracked the code but are actually getting reddits ip?
n/a LetsSmashStacks 2017-06-20
Pretty much, I'm 99% sure OP of the original thread didn't test this at all.

n/a HomieBhaBha 2017-06-20
It's funny. The dude who started this shit has like 350 upvotes and the truth that was found through this post is sitting at 4.

Well, a human would just say "I've got a Luongo jersey", sitting my living ... what ?
I'm saying you're a bot, you don't exist in real life.
