Have the USSR/Russia and the USA completely switched ideological roles on the world stage?

Just like US political parties can switch roles over history (Republicans started liberal and ended up conservative; Democrats started conservative and ended up liberal), do countries also switch polarity like that?

In the old days, conservative Americans loathed the USSR and ultra-liberal Americans tried to defend it, now, liberal Americans loath Russia and ultra-conservative Americans try to defend Russia.

In the old days the USSR was the primary instigator of world-uniting propaganda through their Communist International movement, now, the neo-liberals from the USA are leading the charge for a global government.

In the old days the mantle of patriotism and avowedly Christian independent statehood was worn by the USA, now, that mantle can reasonably be transferred to nationalist, Orthodox Russia.

In the old days, the Soviet mouthpiece newspaper Pravda was a total joke, to Russians themselves as well as the rest of the world, now, the entire lineup of US mainstream media news outlets is laughable to most intelligent American and international viewers, who look for reliable news from other sources, or between the lines.
