There was a thread about a mod on r/drama about a month ago about a certain mod and others not trusting him and that mod has been absent ever since. This problem has been a festering for a bit now.
Eh... I can't say for sure what is going on the behind the scenes... but the fact that there prolly is a lot going on behind the scenes isn't good... was it JUSTIN_HERGINA that the topic was about? Cause he quit like an hour ago...
For a sub that is weary of things done in secret by those in power with little accountability and far removed from their "constituents" SOME of this sub's mods in the last two months have gone off the rails.
I really regret helping vote in a mod this time around.
Creq banned a obvious toxic troll TWICE with links as evidence who then gets unbanned by another mod less than an hour later. Check mod log it's his most recent.
Flytape stating all threads by certain users going into contest mode because they were having a disagreement. Like wtf?
ShellOil trolling pizzagaters with name calling. Sure it's tame, but why ask for drama?
When you have subs like r/worldnews banning you for saying that a terrorist attack with a truck was most likely perpetrated by an adherent to Islam, I can understand why some people make new accounts.
Anonymity/privacy. No reason to aid people trying to build a profile on you. I'll go with the more private/anonymous option unless there's a good reason not to, and I don't see one in this situation.
That's why I had to dip out. All of the negativity after the election- like the world was coming to an end, I refused to give it any energy. I peek in every now and again and I have no idea what happened to a sub I have loved for so long. It's sad really.
Sorry you've been through the ringer. Take a break, hit the reset.
That system could be gamed much like any thread. I've thought about it before, in an ideal world it's the perfect solution but I fear it wouldn't work in the larger subs.
The community was a lot smaller here once upon a time, and usernames became your id badge. For the most part, mods here were veto'd in with the community's consensus and or voted in by popular demand. Unfortunately there's too much tom foolery these days that I fear this process will no longer work.
Its because the subs power was getting to strong and effecting people opinions. When that happens, it gets attacked for those opinions and more since the election.
I actually think most of the mods here have been pretty good. There are three who sometimes make some questionable decisions based on their personal politics, and another who stretches the interpretation of the rules to their absolute breaking points, but on the whole I think this is one of the best sets of mods on reddit.
Shhh shhh shhh... everyone be good again! Act natural... everyone... just act natural... cause now this sub has double the number of powered up mods that we used to have hours ago.
I don't know, it seems like some fairy drastic action was necessary. I wish /u/Sarah_Connor best of luck and hope things can get back on an even keel, but it's going to be tough given the huge divide in this community

I'm all for a coup if it is gonna knock out mods that might have been up to shiesty shit behind the scenes.

Got a link for that thread? The only drama I'm seen is between Flytape, Creq and U13.
1 WarSanchez 2017-08-10
I'd rather not stir the pot.
Sarah has a lot to deal with, and I actually agree with her/him a lot of the time, so I'd rather not say out of respect.
1 CluelessClowns 2017-08-10
Oh. Ok. So no Drama.
1 WarSanchez 2017-08-10
I'm sure a search of posts on r/drama with certain key words will give you your fix.
1 JUSTIN_HERGINA 2017-08-10
Not sure what you agree with, he doesn't do anything. Not even in modmail.
1 WarSanchez 2017-08-10
I've been here almost 6 years coming up, I've seen her plenty.
1 JUSTIN_HERGINA 2017-08-10
Same here. But I've seen him do fuck all of significance, or anything in general.
1 Psycho_Energetics 2017-08-10
they're all fags

Have you got any questions?
1 Ninjakick666 2017-08-10
Not really... aside from still wondering if you were the the one the drama topic was about.
1 JUSTIN_HERGINA 2017-08-10
No I wasn't.
1 WarSanchez 2017-08-10
I agree with Sarah that something has to be done.

Better to have anarchy than corrupt rule.
1 Psycho_Energetics 2017-08-10
the mods literally do whatever they want and are held to no standards.

Welcome to reddit lol
1 rodental 2017-08-10
Which is why the mod system sucks.
1 EricCarver 2017-08-10
really? Mind pointing out one instance of a mod going off the rails here? I've been impressed with what I've seen.
1 WarSanchez 2017-08-10

You got a better eye for this stuff than I do. Thanks for the clarification.
1 IanPhlegming 2017-08-10
I am reserving judgment. I feel the mods have overall done a very good job. Let's see what happens here.
1 PKMN_Master_Red 2017-08-10
Hahhahahahahahahahha
How long have you been here? You know Flytape has been demodded 3 times right?
1 CluelessClowns 2017-08-10
Hmmm. 8 month user knows the long history of /u/flytape.
I find that interesting!
1 LetsSmashStacks 2017-08-10
Plenty of reasons to make new accounts, surprised so many people keep old ones tbh.
1 1-800-GOFUCKYOURSELF 2017-08-10
Plenty of reasons not to make alts also...
1 LetsSmashStacks 2017-08-10
Such as?
1 1-800-GOFUCKYOURSELF 2017-08-10
Such as using one account and not making a million alts?
1 LetsSmashStacks 2017-08-10
Making a new account once every few months and deleting the old one isn't really that hard.
1 Rayfloyd 2017-08-10
But why?
1 1-800-GOFUCKYOURSELF 2017-08-10
Circumvent bans, that's why.
1 Rayfloyd 2017-08-10
ohhhh thanks, this is my first account lol
1 LetsSmashStacks 2017-08-10
Speaking from experience?

Who's stalking ya buddy? Who are you afraid of?
1 LetsSmashStacks 2017-08-10
Who said that? I just don't see any reason to be less private, retroactive security doesn't work.
1 Psycho_Energetics 2017-08-10
people can use more than one username, do you find that interesting? lmao

I've been here for 8 years, I think this is account 9 or 10. I'm sure I'm not alone in that.
1 IanPhlegming 2017-08-10
I did not. Perhaps I'm a fool, but if Flytape is a shill, he's a very accomplished one.
1 rodental 2017-08-10
Flytape is an asshole who isn't shy about speaking his mind, but he ain't no shill.
1 Rayfloyd 2017-08-10
Today marks the first day of the death spiral of /r/conspiracy
R.I.P.

TODAY?
Lmfao
1 Rayfloyd 2017-08-10
If you thought it was bad before, it's about to go to shit haha
1 Step2TheJep 2017-08-10
The end is nigh brah
1 creq 2017-08-10
Give it some time. I'm very curious to see what they sub will do with less moderator intervention.
1 EricCarver 2017-08-10
I sort of figured that was part of the test, to see what happens when the rumor gets out we are modless.
1 accountingisboring 2017-08-10
What's been happening? I've been away for a while.
1 Stark21 2017-08-10
Sounds like your story might be more interesting.... the information wars plod on as designed. Bill Clinton is still a rapist (sigh) INFOWARS.COM
1 accountingisboring 2017-08-10
If he's still breathing, he's still raping.
1 Stark21 2017-08-10
Well, I hope it was restful. The toxicity of it all really has it's hooks in me. Don't even know if I could detox if I wanted too.

I dont understand why reddit doesnt allow mods to be elected? It would make a lot more sense
1 RecoveringGrace 2017-08-10
Because the sub is inundated with bots and shills. How do have a fair election that way?
1 Rayfloyd 2017-08-10
Now where does that sound familiar...
Perhaps if we replace sub by country and bots and shills by illegals and the dead...
Oh now I remember! The 2016 elections :D
1 JUSTIN_HERGINA 2017-08-10
If it wasn't for the :D I would've thought you were serious.
