Yes, kinda. If people make enough vague predictions eventually one of them will be close. There's one church that predicted that end of the world on a specific date and after that date passed and it didn't happen they said their math was wrong and predicted another date. They were wrong again.

Usually between 20-35 a day over 2.5, but in the 50s isn't that uncommon. When there are a lot it is generally due to a swarm somewhere.
