The Adidas conspiracy
27 2017-09-28 by Ratovandermir
September 19th- Surging Adidas overtakes Jordan brand to get to #2 in shoe sales in the U.S. behind Nike.
September 26th - NCAA and Adidas officials arrested over corruption charges for paying money to student athletes and families.
So, the most public secret in sports that the NCAA is corrupt and that athletes are paid money behind closed doors comes out a week after Adidas becomes #2 shoe seller in US, overcoming Jordan and threatening Nike.
And somehow Nike isn't mentioned in this scandal.

Come back when you have even the slightest evidence that Nike had anything to do with this. It's one Adidas exec no one has heard about or cares about. You think people are gonna stop buying Adidas because one guy was getting a kickback?

Adidas only over took the Jordan brand because of Kanye West and Yeezys.
1 wutangslanger 2017-09-28
Actually, because of Boost technology. But Yeezys furthered the rise of Adidas.

Boost technology? Good lord.

Also because Jordan has been banking on customers re-buying the same shoes every couple of years.
Jordan hasn't made a great looking shoe since the XX.
Adidas brought on Kanye & subsequently rolled out a bunch of amazing shoes really quickly, mainly banking off the silhouette of Nike's Roche Run and improving it.

The FBI is beginning to move onto Nike as well now.
1 An-arkos 2017-09-28
Do you think the FBI will "just do it"?
1 An-arkos 2017-09-28
Not sure i understand the underlying issue here, is it not commonplace for companies who sell sports-goods to sponsor atletes?
I mean why was it even done in secret? We pay you, you endorse our products, marketing 101?

I think it is because college athletes aren't allowed to be paid or "bribed" with gifts. Some BS rule making sure that the colleges themselves get paid rather than the players.
1 An-arkos 2017-09-28
Ok but then who is the "victim" in this case? I mean they done it in secret so i guess its a conspiracy but i fail to see who is getting screwed over on this one...
1 Enok-Stroth 2017-09-28
In this case it would be the college if anything. However I think the rules the colleges have placed on the athletes are absurd. They are doing nothing but profiteering from these students. They too should be able to profit.
1 An-arkos 2017-09-28
Based on what (little) i know on this subject i would agree with you.

I must admit I am pretty ignorant to most things sports, but it is pretty plain to see that the NCAA and the colleges themselves are making enormous profits off college athletes. Hell we can see that sports programs in general are better funded in lower education
(K-12). I suspect it is because they want to develop the sports culture at a young age so when these children become adults in the workforce they will cling to their teams and be blind consumers of sports. I think its great that kids are encourage to join teams but we spend absurd amounts of tax payer money on High School Stadiums when the district is struggling to pay for staff and fund other departments. It makes no senses unless you see it for what it is. The education system in this country and it funding needs a complete overhaul. Time to do away with property taxes that fund public schools, why fund these schools if they aren't producing better students. But it isn't just the schools themselves that need change the whole community needs to make changes and reevaluate their focus. What is the main objective in their community. What is the main objective of our country? People need to start asking these questions and discussing the answers. IF America as a whole had a goal, we would achieve it. We have no main directive as a society. This is what allows all the corruption to take place. Since we have no clear goal for our country we can't hold our politicians accountable. Sorry for the tangent guess I just needed to blow off some steam.

"we have no main directive as a society"
This is why I lose sleep at night. TPTB do have a main directive, however.
1 Enok-Stroth 2017-09-28
Yeah, but for the TPTB to work they must compartmentalize everything. That means that not everyone knows the plan, it creates strife, and perhaps the different groups and or sub groups involved have different agendas. how you interact with you community. If we put focus on negativity then the product of that focus will be anxiety. If you approach the subject in a calm manner and not with the attitude of defeat then you will be able to sleep.

The most vile crime that can be committed in the U.S. Money is changing hands and the government isn't getting a cut.

College athletes can't get paid.. So they just pay off the athletes parents instead. Easy.
1 schlamboozle 2017-09-28
They've been working on this since 2014. It is going to get bigger and probably loop in football too. The problem is people are taking advantage of athletes at a young age in AAU, grooming them, and moving them to schools, or pro teams based on money. The other problems are fraud, bribery, tax evasion, and scholarships in public universities. So far ASM sports, Nike, and Adidas are all roped in. A handful of schools are also in the limelight and the Associate AD at Alabama has now stepped down also. I wouldn't be surprised if Under Armour gets roped into this too.
