not to hijack your comment, or to consider it answered - but it seems you already agree with OP. we know there is evidence with the subscriber counts spiking, and there is evidence of information distraction ( posting of certain anti-Trump purple-revolution type media ) and sliding ( downvotes and questionable commenters ) in the HRC and related threads - and this has happened anomalously in the timeframe that OP suggests. perhaps what they say is true. at the very least it plausibly explains what is going on.

Man, I love Dyson. His perturbative approach to QFT and subsequent Dyson series were my favorite parts in teaching graduate-level QM. Still, his accomplishments as a physicist sadly don't grant him much authority when it comes to climate science (where the system is way too complicated to receive the same theoretical approach).
