Asking for a friend, if he has photos he wants to share without tracing it back to him, how would he do it?

/pol/ they will tell you

lol

And then you're already logged by the SS.

It doesn't take much anymore.

Too true man.

4chan would be your safest bet

clear the pictures meta datat and post it using a vpn and a made up account.

This is what I came to say.

Not on your own computer too.

I'd also take a screenshot of the actual pic from a device I don't own.then post that. Hide meta data trail. Then-yes. Release on pol. Bonus for not posting it from your house. Double bonus for not posting it from a device you own. Triple score make sure the public wifi location you use doesnt have video surveillance

How would you get rid of the meta data trail?

Imgur strips metadata

I wouldn't trust it to. Imgur doesn't exactly have a shining corporate history of doing what's right.

Except you can check for metadata yourself after you stripped it.

That doesn't change the fact that they themselves could log and hold the EXIF information, and drop it on the public copy. You would never be the wise.

Download irfanview. It's free and it strips metadata for you.

youve already given them a way to find him

who was stonetear?

Oh it's a fantastic story and worth the read. The top comment in this thread covers the basics

Fake account with a VPN from a computer that isn't yours?

4chan

Go to a library. Use an image hosting site like imgur, or file hosting like mega.

Linux live disk,
cheap used laptop/tablet that you've never used at home,
cafe wifi several miles from home,
type in a very different style to your own, free VPN ideally in russia, throwaway accounts for everything,
totally smash then throw device in a very deep river.

At least that's what I'd do.

Listen here. Good advice. Especially the "multiple sites".

one addition:
Timestamp everything! e.g. https://app.originstamp.org/ or similar
md5sum everything you upload.

Good additions too.

I'm risking an avalanche of downvotes by saying this, but here you go:

If your friend really has photographic evidence of something important that the public should know about, then your friend should take that evidence to a reputable journalist. It's the best way to get your info out to a wide audience that will believe you.

If they put it on 4chan or whatever, it'll reach a small audience, and most people outside of conspiracy circles will assume it's fake, if they ever even hear about it.

Intriguing
