Yeah, it's pretty unsettling. They have a lot of tools at their disposal, and have dropped mind boggling sums of money on some of the most "out there" ideas you could possibly imagine. Nothing would surprise me. There isn't a thing out there that I doubt they could accomplish, for better or worse.

This is precisely the reason I do not dismiss something questioning the shape of the earth. What if all of the tools used have been altered to only work within a false model? What if all of the education has been controlled to such an extent that the "authorities" in these institutions are as brainwashed as the students? Tell a lie long enough...

You can look at other planets and the moon yourself, why would the earth be different, and not only that, but physics wouldn’t work if all the rest of the bodies are spheres and the earth were flat. How do people take this crap seriously!? It is just an old meme to make conspiracy thinkers seem stupid.

I'm not here to help you form biases. That's not how this works.

Wanted to know what I’m dealing with, like whether you can tell if someone is given you a jumble of scientific sounding garbage, or whether you are reading actual science.

I am aware that the magnetic field forms a pseudo torus which pinches on the magnetic poles, I took two courses of physics, but my degree is in civil engineering, not geology, so I am not fully adept at the ins and outs of exactly how the motion of the earth creates this shape. In broad strokes it is quite similar to how an electric motor works.

That said, I am not clear what we are discussing because you have not made an argument to agree with or refute based on this. So, what do you take this to mean?

Yeah, I haven't made clear what I plan on discussing yet; I'd rather get everything typed up first. Give me some time and I'll get that theory put together and to do some reading and I'll post it here.

Hey I’m game to hear it. I apologize for the snarky initial tone, I swear the flat earth stuff is just continuously posted to make everyone look like idiots so I admit to an immediate negative reaction.

I will consider what you propose but know I come here because I am a skeptic. I enjoy conspiracies, both ones that can be explained and ones that cannot. I fear that lately there is too little skepticism here, and it should be the opposite.

No worries. I'm not sure how long it'll take me (it is something I've been thinking about in my free time) but I will say this: I think we are being lied to about the shape or make up of the Earth, not entirely sure which; I don't necessarily believe that it is flat, though I may use some concepts from their research to convey points. Full disclosure: I fully believe Tesla understood the universe and our world more than anyone else in our recorded history.

I don’t find anything that would dispute the world’s shape but a preponderance of ways to prove that it is a sphere. I will hear you out but the arguments here are rather ridiculous ways to show this fact. As I mentioned, declination is one, plus a million other mathematical methods that don’t even rely on distant observation.

However, I have little doubt that we don’t understand all that much about the inner makeup of the earth or its formation; honestly though, most scientists make this clear rather than hiding it.

I can’t say I think we are being lied to maliciously (reference to the scandals in academia regarding faked papers and research) to deceive us so much as we simply don’t know many things and researchers have incentive to publish bullshit.

Tesla was an interesting man, a genius visionary. I am not intimately familiar with all of his more “out there” projects, but who knows? Could be hopeful hubris, could be untapped potential. To guess, I would say a bit of both most likely.

It is probably just selection bias, but I want to mention that ever since this post I have seen a lot of stuff on front page about the earth’s magnetic field....

Saying X looks like Y, so Z must also be Y, is no proof at all. The earth is different, these objects in the sky do not have forests or land mass surrounded by water. If you read u/TheRisenOsiris comment, the tools used (math and science) the "physics" are made to work.
