is 4chan definitely compromised? I think so, I find it funny they block VPN IPs because of "abuse"
38 2017-12-07 by [deleted]
I know people call m00t a cuck and basically have exodus'd from there to other communities...
but I find it funny when I try to post a meme I have to disconnect from my VPN or else it tells me my IP range is blocked due to abuse.
it makes me feel they want to have direct monitoring on who posts there and what they say, and a direct line to trace it back to the individuals. 4chan, of all places, should support anonymity.
theres no other reason for a discussion community to block VPNs -- especially 4chan where basically normal posts are abuse anyways. its not like they are suffering attacks where people just say horrible things on a VPN specifically.

I'm gonna report this to the FBI just in case.

In my opinion, if any site is influential, it's compromised.
The FBI prob cut a deal with them for all the illegal shit they used to host.

I'm surprised they still exist honestly. I heard the stories when I was in high school; some actually involving people I knew who made poor choices and became victims of revenge.
I know they had some level of lack of accountability because they themselves did not post it and probably couldn't keep track of all the posts.
but I guess they did allow it to go on without interference and left it up

Like he said either a deal or a red flag. They're not dumb. Going after moot is a big sign to keep away. They need to make it appear like it really is that safe hidden place no one knows about and you can say whatever hidden thoughts you have in your mind.

party van arrives.
Sir... we know you posted the gum meme. Come with us...

Good old v&
Great propoganda campaign too, make people think the idea of the fbi showing up was absurd and just a meme. Then again that guy who did say he was going to blow some shit up did get arrested like 10 years ago iirc
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
oh, its a meme...
but I never doubted some people actually had it happen to them.
urban legends like that are usually a hint of reality.
in this case though, its really just a bad gum meme.

The people in power run the fed, the cia, the media. If they want something to happen they tell the public it's going to happen. If they want it done they just print money, buy it whatever the cost, and get it done themselves.

to be clear, just because I got one (deleted) probably bogus accusation, this is the image I posted on 4chan.

I also posted it here. I just leave my VPN on constantly out of paranoia. although, perhaps the FBI would find my meme funny.

4 chan has child porn problem, as well a harassment problem. Every brigade attack starts there. Be a fucking man and take responsibility for what you post.
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
I did. Its just a minor inconvenience for me. I posted the same pic I showed here on meme economy.
If you'd like a link to the specific post, I'll show you http://boards.4chan.org/pol/thread/152301499

That site is the source of half the just toxicity on the internet. Every time you hear about someone getting harassed it started there. Bunch of racist, homophobic basement dwelling retards. I hope everyone on there gets cancer and dies
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
I hope your a semitransparent plaid person. everyone else is an inferior race and I am implored by the gods to doxx them
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
hold on, brb, I have to leave my basement for a minute. its going to take me awhile since I have to go... outside... shivers
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
semitransparent plaid master race

All thanks to racist morons like OP.

No where near as bad as tumblr. Those crazy bitches regularly bully people to death.

All VPNs get banned from 4chan because people use VPNs when posting stuff that gets them banned. It might be done intentionally but it's not anything that can be blamed on the admin of the site.
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
I honestly didn't think about that even knowing the history of 4chan.
that doesn't affect me, personally, but it would make some sense.
1 Weirdbhamcall 2017-12-07
M00t doesn't own 4chan anymore does he?
1 recovThrowAway 2017-12-07
idk really, the gum meme was my second post there ever.
1 Weirdbhamcall 2017-12-07
I don't think he's been involved in a few years

Sold in 2015.

Sure it's compromised. That's the new censorship. I got banned for a day for mentioning nuclear 9/11. (Not the first place, won't be the last.) But it's still weird enough to the mainstream that you can find some good info there.

It's possible the IP of the VPN you're using was used by someone else who misused it. Do they block all VPNs? What's to stop you from setting up your own VPN? How would they know if you're using a private VPN?
You're right that 4chan should support anonymity, but if they just ban IPs that are repeatedly associated with coordinated attacks (like DDoS), I can understand why publicly available VPNs would end up blocked.

part of my use of VPNs requires a leased line and server mainly because I like accessing via proxies in other countries along with the tunnel/encryption.
since I'm not doing anything crazily illegal, I don't need perfect security, and its still enough security for me. while at the same time, I get to access content from other countries and avoid certain area restrictions.
sure, a VPN in my house would be more secure in a lot of ways...
but I don't own a server in Canada, Europe or elsewhere in the world, let alone several places, and I don't want to have to lease the hardware directly myself. would be expensive.
1 justaddbooze 2017-12-07
Most all chans are compromised.
Popular VPNs are all blocked because people have used those IP ranges to post bankable material.
