The FCC is a federal agency that is controlled by Verizon. If this isn't the best example of the pecking order I'm not sure what is. An agency that is part of the executive branch of the United States is under control by Verizon. It's about time we dismantle and rebuild

Color me a moron, but I don't know why we need an FCC to control stuff to begin with.
Like the Dept. of Education, it's done far more harm than good.
And they make us pay for these controllers we don't even want.

We don't need anyone controlling anything. People trying to control others us the problem.

Because the electromagnetic spectrum is a finite, shared good, and we'd see both "tragedy of the commons" wastage and destructive monopolization without the FCC

More than half of the viable bands were coopted by the military and DOD anyways. They don't need all of that bandwidth do they?

your right. most people living in the time of pre migration to the new world, were in fact living in abject poverty. all across Europe.particularily london. london was a filthy mess. factories and jobs everywhere. people were forced to put theyre children to work right along side of them just to survive. and its because a select few barons owned everything. they worked for them and paid rent to them. its why they left and came to the new world and take they're chances.

"Government agency reducing it's level of control" is a headline I would like to see more often.

There is no difference between Government and corporations.

Just because they hold hands and give each other money, and both maximize their gain at the expenses of others doesnt mean there isn't a difference.
They work together. And they have similar MO's. But government and corporations are two different birds.

Do you have any proof that it is controlled by Verizon?
1 TheSenDest 2017-12-09
The chairman is a former Verizon lawyer.
1 Tamerlane-1 2017-12-09
And? Is having a company on your resume the same as being their slave?
1 TheSenDest 2017-12-09
In most cases your argument would be completely fair, however, one does not simply go from being a lawyer of a telecommunications company (one that fights regulations from the FCC) to becoming the chairman of the same company he fought against. That's where most people get off on the wrong foot with this guy.
If he worked as a technical support manager or say somewhere in the corporate level of Verizon then sure, what's the big deal? But as I said, he is in the position of deregulating a company he used to fight for.

That still isn't evidence the Verizon controls the FCC. He also is reportable to Congress and the President, who can fire him if they want to.
1 TheSenDest 2017-12-09
In a perfect world, yes, he is reportable to Congress. Personally, I don’t think we don’t live in such a world.
1 Tamerlane-1 2017-12-09
What do you think would happen if congress fired him? He would overthrow the US Government?
1 TheSenDest 2017-12-09
No reason to be hostile, man. I’m just explaining why I think the way I do and how most people that use the internet feel about this guy.
1 Old-neptune 2017-12-09
He's saying that he doesn't think congress would ever hold the guy accountable to begin with, not that he's going to overthrow the government.
1 Tamerlane-1 2017-12-09
I said congress can hold him accountable, not that it would. The point is, it doesn't matter whether Pai is a verizon slave, because if he was, Congress would just fire him, unless they are verizon slaves.
1 BeamServer 2017-12-09
How exactly should we dismantle it? If you have any ideas, I'm all ears. Because voting, prayers, and being upset don't do anything. And as far as I can tell, those are the only things we are allowed to do.
So if you have some alternative options or ideas, let us know and we will dismantle.
1 Old-neptune 2017-12-09
We always have the choice to stop consuming.
