I can only guess it might be some sort of drone "botnet" where they all follow directions simultaneously before branching out to do their business once they near their goal. Military never really tips their hand like that unless whatever it is is ready for action, I'd think.
The security camera footage is interesting. Did it seem like the space between the lights blocked out the sky? It almost looks like one giant craft, but I can't really see with the video.

Yeah, actually, speaking of something going on...Earlier tonight, there were two weird huge vertical lights south of my home in SW Pennsylvania with 100% cloud cover. I don't know what caused them.
Using the resources of duckduckgo I managed to find that "Blinking Red Light" is the seventh episode of Season 4 of The Mentalist and it was probably available in all those states mentioned. I'm in Australia and we saw it as well.
www.global.adsbexchange.com is a great website that actually shows military air traffic if you go to options then filters enable filters and select military it will show military only.
Seen last night a tad before 9pm in northern iowa. It sounded like jet aircraft considering I looked up into the sky trying to pin point where the noise was coming from.
Did nobody think to check Flighaware, or FlightRadar or whatever that site is? They show all air traffic, including military. It would have been easy to tell if that was a flight of military planes.

It is true. The flight path coincides with most of the media reports.
Sightings in Idaho, Montana, etc. are probably unrelated, but deemed so due to all coincident online chatter.
They might be correlated, but not from the same cause. Happens more often than you think with multiple state mass sightings.
