Would explain "the resistance" stuff and the strange shilling for the new star wars movies from r/politics .

Hmm....good idea.
1 TheMadQuixotician 2017-12-26
They definitely control a good portion of r/movies. The discussion surrounding the Justice League had that "bought and paid for disdain" vibe.
1 MaestroBelarious 2017-12-26
This. Disney invented Fake News to attack WB films in 2014
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
It would be foolish to think large corporations wouldn’t seek control of public discourse given the fiduciary power to do so.
On the other hand, titles like that are kind of the reason we get made fun of.
Make an argument with some sources or something, you know?
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
I read the comments.
Many of the R/politics users say the new star wars movie is the greatest ever.
And strangly most of the r/politics users are in subs like marvel, disney and other disney relatet subs.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
Many meaning how many? Who? Where?
I haven’t personally seen any Star Wars discussion in r/politics threads. I suspect you may be basing this off of one or two comment chains that were vaguely positive about the movie.
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
And why the use of the term "the resistance"?
Iam the only one that thing this is strange?
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
It’s a term that accurately describes the perception anti-Trumpers have about his presidency and their role in it.
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
You are a r/politics user too. Maybe you even "one of them" .
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
What exactly are you implying?
1 thinks_he_has_gold 2017-12-26
That you go around parroting talking points and shitting on every conspiracy thread you come across.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
Parroting what talking points?
I would like for people to focus on the things that are actually conspiracies and dangers to the common man; not whimsical fantasies with little supporting evidence, circumstantial or otherwise.
If you can repudiate my arguments, do so. Otherwise, concede that perhaps you don’t have an argument in the first place.
Call me a shill, or shut up about it. Man up.
1 thinks_he_has_gold 2017-12-26
Lol I don’t think you are good enough at this to get paid for it.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
Then I’m probably not getting paid for it... shocker.
1 thinks_he_has_gold 2017-12-26
You are the one who went straight for shill accusations...you are just trying to get people banned for violating the rules.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
I don’t actually report people for calling me a shill, usually, but nice try.
1 thinks_he_has_gold 2017-12-26
K.
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
true.
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
We all know what you are.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
What am I, hmm? An r/politics poster? Oh, buddy. A liberal conspiracy theorist. Those don’t exist at all!
1 Guano- 2017-12-26
If i was a CEO of a site that is in the top 20 visited sites. Damn strait I'd undermine everyone and sell mod rights to a company so long as there is some ground rules.
Money
1 kaioken_X420 2017-12-26
I’d say maybe but doesn’t R/politics kinda lean left in the first place? If so I’d say the Star Wars stuff kinda makes sense. With the female protagonist, animal rights and whatever other shit they tried to cram into the new one, they might all just really like it. I personally disliked Admiral Ackbar getting snubbed the purple haired bitches position
1 Silenerlost 2017-12-26
Iam only saying keep an eye on it.
1 theshadowfax 2017-12-26
You might be surprised. They've consistently been anti-Trump, but you should have seen it in early-mid 2016. Within a very short time the sub went from a mixture of Bernie supporters with a few Clinton fans, to being overwhelmingly pro-Hillary to the point where anyone suggesting the DNC cheated Bernie was ostracized and treated the same as a Trump supporter.

It's just professional courtesy for corporations to be polite about the products of other corporations, especially products without grassroots popularity.

WuT?
1 Facts_About_Cats 2017-12-26
Disney is a corporation. The Democratic Party (and the Republican Party) represent corporations, and their shills dominate /r/politics. They're all fellow corporations.
1 Do1t4DaleJ 2017-12-26
disney tea bagged the core audience
1 ScaredycatMatt 2017-12-26
I realise this sounds a bit tin foil hatty, but the style of posting and Reddit "mannerisms" of the pro-TLJ people has really made me think of the internet's liberal community. Like half of what I am reading feels manufactured or unauthentic.
(Note: I am not saying that only the liberal community have paid groups, just that this particular group feels like them)
1 accountingisboring 2017-12-26
What does TLJ stand for?
1 trjb 2017-12-26
The lady jedi, many people are upset about a toy commercial.
1 ScaredycatMatt 2017-12-26
The Last Jedi!
1 accountingisboring 2017-12-26
Lol, thanks. I never would’ve guessed that. I’m so out of the loop.
1 MoronToTheKore 2017-12-26
Kind of sounds like your perception of liberal discourse is that it sounds inauthentic.
If you have differing political beliefs that is common.
1 ScaredycatMatt 2017-12-26
Probably the case, I also hated the new Star Wars which would be a similar situation.
1 Scroon 2017-12-26
TLJ does seem like a "liberal" fantasy (even had a purple haired girl as admiral!), so it would make sense that liberal types would be praising it. As far as comments being manufactured, yeah, I guess that's a thing now.
1 oldMiseryGuts 2017-12-26
Stop trying to start political arguments in this sub eithout sources or reasoning
1 Vergil5858 2017-12-26
Critic reviews for on sites like metacritic for TLJ are overwhelmingly positive...yet user reviews are overwhelmingly negative. It's not just mindless bashing, either - a lot of the user reviews raise excellent points that the official critics downplay or ignore.
So I do think it's worthwhile being skeptical of anywhere that has mindless praise of the movie.

The issue is that many fans don't like their expectations being subverted. They don't want a surprise or something new, they want more of the same. They don't want to consider bushes of morality, they want good and evil space wizards to have laser sword fights. Critics, meanwhile, love having their expectations subverted, they love meta commentary. Fans have good points to make because there are many plot threads that seen to be "dropped" unexpectedly, but critics are glad to see that happen when it leads to something novel they weren't expecting.
1 krulos 2017-12-26
I've been on reddit since 2008 and /r/politics was a shit hole back then. Better not to venture to that side at all. It will cost you brain cells.
1 kyleNOBANnigga 2017-12-26
Did you see the third Mark Hamill tweet? They say he "Corrected he record lol"
1 ioillusion 2017-12-26
Media companies often pay popular bloggers/posters, if you get enough exposure, you can make a career of it.
1 Feather_Toes 2017-12-26
I wanted to watch the new Star Wars until I saw a clip of the milk scene. Yeah, no thanks.
1 Do1t4DaleJ 2017-12-26
Shareblue, not disney. Its a toxic soup of democrat shilling since 6months before the general election.
