E.T Mandela effect
0 2018-01-04 by roseconhouse08
Recently my mum read an article on why M&M’s decided to drop the opportunity to be in the film E.T and she started to call absolute bullshit on it. The scene M&M’s would’ve been featured in is at the beginning of the movie, where Elliot tries to entice E.T out of his hiding spot, using what is now clearly a bag of Reese’s Pieces. My mum says that she absolutely clearly remembers it being M&M’s (not Reese’s Pieces) since M&M’s weren’t a thing you could buy in England until the success of the movie, when everyone wanted to suddenly buy these sweets. She absolutely did not believe in conspiracy theories before this either, which is why I’m inclined to think she may have something here. Another thing about this is that Reese’s as a brand only came to England VERY recently which I find strange for such strongly received product placement from one of the most successful movies of the 80’s.

Hocus pocus. Which candy brand was it in the fictional film?
1 robaloie 2018-01-04
Reese’s

Well that’s the whole point of my post!! I remember Reese’s but I also wasn’t alive in small town England throughout the 80’s to dissect whether other people around that age in England also remember this.

Alright. I hope you find what you are looking for.

This is what you let consume your spare time? I don’t even understand what it is you are trying to say. You think originally M&M’s were in the movie, but then they later changed it to Reeses or something? Even if that is true (it’s not), I can not think of a “conspiracy” that would interest me less than this.
I would not call this the Mandela Effect, because that would require numerous people who share the same false memory. I have never heard this mentioned before.

Don’t reply to it if you’re not interested babe xoxoxoxoxox

Im interested in the psychology of conspiratorial lunatics such as yourself and your mother. I hope you guys get to the bottom of this intense M&M/Reeses mystery, babe!

Thank you so much for your support!!! Love you xx

Mandela Effect takes a lot of shit here and other places but it was a catalyst for me and several family members and friends. You and your mom are not crazy. : )
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
So then where are all the others who also claimed to have seen the M&M’s. This is not an example of the Mandela Effect, just a shitty memory.
1 rwsmith8888 2018-01-04
Do you think there are any examples of the Mandela Effect?
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
Of course.

Im not supporting you though. I think your mother is a psychopathic cunt. Obviously the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

Baby, I think you’re missing my complete lack of care and obvious sarcasm. Love you lots, have a nice day xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
Sugar tits, your sarcasm was obvious. You have responded to me 4 times. That is not a complete lack of care, sorry babe.

I am replying, thats correct! Such a smart little girl you are! You know, you may have a retarded mother, but she sure did raise an intellectual little cookie.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
Oh babe when’s the wedding xxxxxxxxx
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
Can I give you a tip? You are kind of overdoing it with the “babe” and “darling” stuff. Its most effective when used in small doses. You start to sound like a grandmother after awhile. Same with the general sarcasm. Subtle sarcasm cuts much deeper.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
Oh thanks sugar plum sweetie pie baby cakes. Darling you’ve change my world. You absolute angel. Babe seriously I’m a new person now. Gosh, my love you have made me change my 25 years of the way I live my life. Thank you darling I’m so shocked I didn’t see this before, I owe you my life!!!! Xxxoxoxoxoxoxo

No problem, toots. I just checked your history to see how far the conspiracy rabbit hole goes, and I noticed you have zero karma and this was your first post. Your very first comment was to me, yet you have had the account for over 100 days. What’s up with that, cupcake?
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
I have a life and don’t spend it all on here
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
Right. And by “all” you mean literally no time at all except for today (106 days in).
Personally I don’t care. I just thought it was odd. You probably just didn’t want people thinking you are a crazy conspiracy person on your main account, and posted it on this one.
Take care, pumpkin. I hope you unwrap this candy covered mystery.
See what I did there? Unwrap? Cuz you unwrap candy.
Ehhhh you don’t get it.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
No i made the account with the intention to post and though, ‘oh hey I’m an adult with responsibility and a social life, I’ll wait until work has a dull day’. And you’re in luck, it was today!!
Nice pun though, thoroughly enjoyed!
1 oceanic231 2018-01-04
Who you think you are kidding, Rose? You can’t bullshit a bullshitter. We all have alternate accounts. Not a big deal. If I was going to make such a strange post, I wouldn’t want it on my main account either. Why give the trolls fuel?

It was always Reese's Pieces for me and I believe in the Mandela effect, just not this particular one. I believe in all the big ones: Luke I am your father, Mirror Mirror, Berenstein Bears, Life IS like a box of Chocolates, Interview "A" Vampire, Sex in the city, Looney Toons, JCPenny, Ford Logo, Depends, Cup'O Noodles, Isiah 11:6 "The lion shall lay down with the lamb," Mona Lisa gaining a smirk, The Thinker moving his hand from his forehead to his chin, the human heart moving to the center of the chest, Daylight saving(s) time, etc.
The weird one that gets me is Flinstones / Flintstones. Most people don't think this one is real and it annoys me.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
I’m very aware of most mainstream Mandela effects. The thing with them however, is they’re all very American-culture-central, and I was very interested to see if this was an English thing perhaps!
I remember it as flinstones!

There are a quite a few Mandela effects that could apply to England.
All KJV bible changes.
Changes to artworks: Henry VIII painting
Spelling changes to the English language. Dilemma / Dilemna or Judgement / Judgment
Changes to human anatomy: heart moved, stomach moved, kidneys moved, floating ribs, 8 pack abs vs 6 six pack abs https://s19.postimg.org/6wcfk86ab/Mandela_Effect_Skeleton.jpg
Geography changes: did Australia and New Zealand move?
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
Thank you, I am very familiar with these English Mandela effects, being from England. However I do find the human anatomy one New and very interesting, as an ex biology student!!

I remember it 100% at Tunes because when I was a kid, I asked why was it spelled like that.

I was alive at this time and conscious of the news.
Reese's was in the movie but M&Ms made a lot of news about how they fucked up by turning that down. I'd say they created almost as much press for themselves by screwing up as Reese's did by taking the deal.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
Interesting!! That makes a lot of sense! The thing that got me very confused about this was the fact M&M’s were non existent before that movie, so this does clear that up. Like I’ve said before, this was nothing to do with me and everything to do with my mum, so it’ll be interesting to hear what she says about this!
1 Grapling_Shoes 2018-01-04
"the fact M&M’s were non existent before that movie" -wut?
ET released: 1982
M&Ms originated: 1941
What is more believable:
Timelines are fracturing and intertwining, and this is causing a chaotic shift in the way information in pop culture is represented on the holofracal cave wall...
Or, We the People suck at remembering things, and it gets worse with age.
Hug Your mom and just agree with her. Soon You will forget that Han Solo shot Captain Kirk first.
1 roseconhouse08 2018-01-04
Well what I actually said was they weren’t a thing you could buy in England. As I can clearly tell you’re not from England, I’ll continue to look for what my ‘mum’ was questioning about else where. Thank you for your comment, a foreign insight is always interesting!
1 Grapling_Shoes 2018-01-04
I quoted you word for word.
You ever play a game called broken telephone? one kid wispers to another a "word" and by the end of the chain, the word is borked. (wrong)
Your moms broken telephone is between her ears. She saw the product placement on the show and something broken in her head says the powers that be have changed it out for another.
Free tip. Stay clear of people who believe in Mandella effect or Flat Earth. True sign of mental illness.
You know the kicker? Nelson Mandela? guy this illness is named after....
anti-apartheid revolutionary, political leader, and philanthropist...
Everyone forgets the Racist, Terroristic, Murderous beginnings. Its all puppies and flowers.
Kill Whites
You better start reading something before your brains leak right out your ear.

I agree with most of what you said, but the Mandela Effect actually is a real thing. It is just a term for when a lot of different people share the same false memory. It was named the Mandela Effect because a lot of people used to think Nelson Mandela was dead like 10 years before he actually was.
1 jeronimomexico 2018-01-04
It was always Recees, it was actually hyped when the movie came out and recees became a fad.
1 SugeRay 2018-01-04
Mandela died for this
