Yes! It started with that Oprah post but this might be a bigger issue than that. I found the same work around. Glad to know I'm not the only one slowly getting pissed lol...
But I think this is unrelated to that. That just happened to be the first post giving me that error. Other users saying its happening in other subs as well.

This is it kids! Buckle up for safety.
3 Orbitoll 2018-01-11
Anyone know why this is happening yet?
5 Ted_Gunderson_2011 2018-01-11
I assume some admin accidentally put the max amount of letters to 1. It also applies to messages as well.

Thank you.

I googled the error and I found this thread in r/help
Link- https://np.reddit.com/r/help/comments/7pjy4z/whenever_i_try_to_comment_i_get_the_message_this/
And this link in a random forum about coding- https://stackoverflow.com/questions/46156953/how-to-resolve-specified-key-was-too-long-max-key-length-is-255-bytes-in-mysql
I think it has to do with something on Reddits back end.

Thanks!

Edit: Happening to me not just on this subreddit, but all subreddits. Only letting me type 1 character. Then I got back and hit edit and type more.

I can type normally now!

HHappened to me in r/worldnews, commenting on the Assange story. Of course my comment was “against the grain”
The first 3 times it happened I only have to lick save Again to post after receiving that error message
Now that no longer works
Nice work-around
This site has become really weird
I literally had to rely on this work-around to post this

Well, they can't even put out their AI updates without errors. Lol.
To the people who have been reading between the lines, it is coming. There is something going on here... (((they))) are losing control.

yes, but i don't think it is a conspiracy.
It very well could be though, the suppression of thought and speech.
"Let's make it so damn hard for them to speak their minds that they'll just rage quit trying."
