Subreddit for more alternative and bizarre conspiracy content
110 2018-01-15 by mr_dong
r/comspiracy has become a great haven for political corruption and conspiracy and that's a fantastic thing. However there is a large audience here that wants classic UFO and fringe style material.
Please check out /r/HighStrangeness for a more exotic taste of conspiracy content.
/r/conspiracy will always be in my heart but the more time has past the more this subreddit has become a political battleground.
I want to offer something away from politics.
Please check /r/HighStrangeness out and use it to post about unusual conspiracies and the more bizarre subjects we sometimes forget about on this sub.
r/conspiracy is a gem but the days of discussing humanoid sightings, oddball ideas and fringe theory seem to be gone.
I want to offer an alternative.

I echo this sentiment. See you on /r/HighStrangeness

I think the politicisation of conspiracy forums is not an accident. Most people are so caught up with politics that it has left little thought for 'bigger things'.
I see people going around and around with little thought for anything outside of politics. I don't think that's an accident.

I try to just overlook those discussions. You can't have a normal discussion about politics anymore, especially on the internet. Everythings been hijacked to some degree. And the most real of us know exactly why. Don't dare mention it though. Lel.

I take a step back now, it becomes clear when you take a step back.
Even the clever people are arguing over bullshit.

Yea it seems like one of my favorite mods, a colleague of yours so to speak /u/axolotl_peyotl got siphoned into the trap.

Thanks for sharing this. I miss the old, funky, weird stuff. I’m glad it still has a place.

Thanks for the share -- never checked this sub out before. Is the name a reference to Hynek's UFO classification axis of "strangeness"?

Linda Moulton Howe uses this phrase often.

As luck would have it I'm actually listening to her interviewing someone right now. Serendipity is strange, eh?

Interesting. I take note when synchronicity occurs :)

Never even heard of her before tonight. And it's a multi-hour interview, so I started before your comment. Spooky!

It is. I first came across her on Coast to Coast Am where she did a segment called High Strangeness.
1 reddittimenow 2018-01-15
Well I really enjoyed the interview I found, so I'll have to dig up that Coast to Coast one as well. Thanks!

Only thing about highstrangeness that im not into is lack of new content, which is definitely one of the reasons I like to come here regularly.
But! New faces and peeps will fix that!

For the record, I don’t think humanoid ETs should be considered fringe.
Many people neglect to acknowledge that in nature, form follows function. This is most evident in something biologists and naturalists call convergent evolution. For example, consider the pectoral and dorsal fins of a shark versus that of a dolphin - very disparate species (one, a mammal, the other a cartilaginous fish) and yet they have biological structures that are essentially analogous.
This trend isn’t restricted to the macroscopic scale. Consider the cilia that propel many single celled organisms; they are fingerlike or hairlike structures on the outside of the cellular membrane which undulate to move the little eukaryotic cell forward. This isn’t incredibly different from the villi structures which are present in all of our throat cells and elsewhere in digestive organs. By moving with similar patterns, they create the peristaltic waves which keeps food moving one way.
Natural selection finds themes and patterns which work best. On Earth, the human form works well for an organism that creates society, art, develops scientific knowledge, and posts on reddit. The presumption that this “humanoid” form wouldn’t be favored on other rocky planets isn’t very well founded in our observations of biology.
Humanoids =/= fringe.
1 reddittimenow 2018-01-15
You make decent points about form. But I think that even in UFO circles, humanoid reports are fairly fringe, like abductions or maybe crop circles. Not trivial, but not really a core part of the community. Not a lot of attention paid to the topic. Just my opinion.

Op thank you so much for posting this! I’ve been looking for something along the lines of highstrangeness for some time.

high strangeness is awesome. I'm hooked. it reminds me of the old days on this sub (much better days)
1 ianjosephfischer 2018-01-15
Honestly, they should start a /r/PoliticalConspiracy reddit and the mods should enforce political topics to be presented only there.

Thanks, subbed!
