Cell phone conspiracy
5 2018-01-27 by Topsecretrocketman
I just got a new cell phone. It was quite expensive, probably around $900. I also have a Nintendo 3ds xl. It was a fraction of the cost. My 3ds can track my eyes and show me images in 3d. If something that cost ~$250 can do that and play games like Super Mario World 3d, why am I stuck playing candy crush on something that costs about the same as a decent laptop?

It’s the spy chips in them. Pricey.

Because 70% of society has been convinced to be addicted to phones, while 25% are addicted to video games.
1 Topsecretrocketman 2018-01-27
Why can't we just be addicted to both?!?

One offers social media in a much more convenient way than the other.

It's all based off what the market is willing to pay.
1 VeganSavage 2018-01-27
*forced to pay in a monopoly like structure

Or one with price fixing as well.

Early failure of things like N-Gage and the Xperia Playstation phone don't help.

i, for one, accept our technocratic phone overlords. they demand shitty games. so be it.

You're not stuck paying that price for a phone. You chose to and they see that millions of people are willing to also, so they put the price there.
1 Topsecretrocketman 2018-01-27
True. I don't know the actual cost of a cell phone.

There's also a lot of phones that are much cheaper, but people want new and phones that work well for what they want.
A couple quick searches they price to make an iPhone 8 is between $250-$300 depending on the analyst and 8 or 8+. That's the price of materials and prob super cheap labor. The selling price covers R&D, warranties, employees all around the world and other things.

It's like you're living off the grid.

Someday soon I hope.

Developers can do a lot more with the increased detection mechanisms and horsepower phones have.

You really need that extra processing power oomph to achieve the full-on nightmare totalitarian 24/7 surveillance grid, with all data being analyzed by AIs and stored forever.

I always wondered something like that. Surely we have the tech to have a phone to have the same quality as a PC. I mean theres tablets but maybe something more phone savy. Like playing a legit video game on your phone to atleast ps3 graphics, or smooth video editing.

Cooling is a big issue though when it comes to smaller devices. Some of these phones get hot just browsing the web.

It's not made for gaming, it's made for spying. Someday someone will come out with a study that says you only have access to 10% of your phones power/usage and the rest is being used to collect, store and send data without your permission or knowledge.

Negative, Ghostrider. Develop some software for iOS or Android and you'll find that performance is very close to the metal.
1 StrangeNewEra 2018-01-27
The phone has more expensive components in it; much better cameras, GPS, much longer lasting battery, etc.

Mobile phone developers have their thumbs up their asses.
1 irrelevant_spam 2018-01-27
Why did you buy the phone then instead of a decent laptop?

Because they can

so it can suck out your soul through the screen

They make money off the games not the hardware
1 TheJamMaster 2018-01-27
This is the real answer.
1 crestind 2018-01-27
Because lots of people like you buy them.
