This is the most glossed over story I can think of at the moment. People should be irate and a complete rethinking of our military command structure, and our goals for that matter, should be long underway. The web of deception runs deep, and the leverage Fat Leonard had over our military is disturbing. He had a number of officers in his pocket, and while the article portrays Leonard as a profiteer I wonder if there is more to the story.

Leonard bribed high ranking naval officers to find out where ships were going to be. Then he was able to get in deep enough to make sure the fleet would travel to locations where his company sold fuel and supplies.

Leonard sounds like a piece of work, and someone who may have been subject to blackmail due to his own corruption. Leonard has to have video of naval officers with prostitutes. What if someone, or some foreign power, wanted to blackmail Leonard and force him to blackmail Navy officers into spying?
