The Cloverfield Paradox
32 2018-02-05 by conanclone
The movie just dropped on Netflix right after the Superbowl. So far it's homaging the Hadron Collider multiple dimensions stuff, the Philadelphia experiment, and overall portal craziness....haven't finished it yet.
I'm not trying to reach hard for anything, but it definitely is getting inspiration from not only past science fiction but theories in the conspiracy realm as well. An odd release choice but a smart business decision for Netflix to release it right after the Superbowl. I just posted this for discussion on what people think of the movie after they see it.

SPOILER ALERT
This movie has: split dimensions where people remember different things (aka Mandela Effect), Nuclear Wars, Blackouts, Singularity (I'm stretching here but would be the discovery of unlimited power/energy), Russia (of course, but it starts with Russia being displayed as a threat), beings from other dimensions and Poltergeists (not ghosts but random shit happening like magnetic waves, random holes opening in the dimension - one even "ate" a guy's arm - and other weird things).

Wow, another Netflix Ad on conspiracy.
If you are not getting paid to market shows you should be.
Fuck it, the show looks like it might be interesting.

Dude, ease up on the paranoia.
I'm not getting paid. Just starting a discussion on a current media that happens to delve into realms that are familiar in the conspiracy territory. Thousands are probably watching right now after their fix from the Superbowl. It's an odd maneuver but an excellent marketing decision to hook people in right after a big event like that.

I can't decide what to do with these. I really think we are getting hit with clever advertising.

Check my post history and the contributions I have made to this sub. It's that easy before you start creating some agenda fantasy and all of the sudden I'm part of the problem. Those assumptions and situations are exactly what make people on the outside looking in think anybody that relates to anything conspiracy oriented foolish and that everything is out to get them.
I'm not out to get you. I'm not working for anyone except the compromises I have to make to live in the corporate system we call the United States of America just like you if you live here as well. I begrudgingly pay my taxes and I wear my seat belt.

Counterpart, a new show, is also about a parallel earth which are connected and interact. Nice and low key with J.K. Simmons and feels like it plays in the 70s/80s.

I'll look it up. We have always had inter-dimensional plots in science fiction ever since science fiction was science fiction, but it sure has been a blossoming subject in the last few years in not just entertainment but in the science world as well.
I think everyone could agree that CERN is involved in some sensitive subjects that sound out of this world and the end result(s) are going to produce something important to say the least. Good? Bad? That's debatable I guess.

If you look up Robert Monroe's Journey's out of the body he talks about this alternate reality as he was able to train his mind to travel there. I am making amazing progress using his methods as well.

Does it link with lucid dreaming? I always have certain "worlds" that I can go back to in my dreams where they always have a familiar feel, look, and people in them. I'll Look him up.

Hah. Certain worlds indeed, for whatever reason I keep returning to "personal worlds" alot more frequently than I ever have.
Lucid dreaming and (maybe moreso) astral projection.
Outside whatever material in books such as listed i books above, there are subs like /r/astralprojection which may help as well, considering these are numerous personal accounts/statements.

I dunno man, this movie was a high priced B flick.

I never said it was good haha. I just noticed the concepts that they were throwing around that relate to CERN, Dimensional rifts, and that one part when the lady was stuck in the wall reminded me of something straight out of the Philadelphia Project.

You guys suck - I liked it!
1 Sceneselector 2018-02-05
I liked the concepts personally but the story had a Red Dwarf feel to it.

More like a poor man's "Event Horizon" ya smeg head.

Tricking love that movie

I would agree, and for a b movie. I was entertained enough.

Why post this before finishing the movie?

Multitasking? I can't be the only one who goes on reddit or what have you and watch something at the same time?

The first Cloverfield employed an elaborate ARG, viral marketing, easter eggs in Bad Robot/JJ Abrams productions. Traditional marketing itself was minimal.
Now the "Cloverfield Universe" is expanding with the upcoming third and fourth movie in post-production ("10 Cloverfield Lane" was l the second movie). Considering that the third movie working title is "The God Particle" (ie the Higgs boson being researched at CERN), this seems along the lines of previous marketing strategies.
Now I wonder where Slusho comes in this whole mess!!

Definitely has one the more elaborate and interesting viral marketing strategies. It seems to really tailor to the people who like to dig and probe under the hood. I haven't heard of the slush-o theory, but if I was him I would connect my projects too in weird ways.

Check out a TV show called fringe. Lots of stuff that is possible but not in the public arena.
Also about parallel universes.
1 conanclone 2018-02-05
Yeah! I've seen that up until....fourth season? I stopped after Peter was stuck in the alternate universe for a bit.
1 LordPotsmoke 2018-02-05
Awesome show and like people might think, awh nah that technology doesn't exist or that's impossible. We know better ;)
Ps. I love Walter's love of psychodelics

Damn, you may as well work for Netflix, because now I am feeling compelled to watch it.
1 conanclone 2018-02-05
I'll put in my resume Haterade.

The movie Cloverfield is about a nuclear satellite that crashes into earth and mutates an unkown (possibly alien) creature into some giant monster. idk where you're getting all the stuff about the Hadron Collider with multiple dimensions and the Philadelphia experiment from.
1 conanclone 2018-02-05
You could argue that catastrophic events and just things in general get distorted in a game of telephone. But the dimension stuff is referring to the new addition to the series that released yesterday right after the Superbowl.
It's another good example of knowing about knowing human behavior and using that to your advantage in selling a product really.
