A week ago this came up, I typed "reddit conspiracy" and it came up as the 6th or 7th link. Today, I did the same thing to take a screenshot, and at least for me it's not there.
Now, I don't think this is a sign of some far reaching conspiracy, but it is interesting nonetheless to me.
Well the Reddit conspiracy theory of mattresses spawned a lot of articles that get a lot more views than r/conspiracy. It was still the fifth one my search.
Jesus fucking Christ. Does someone post this every single day?! Are you people fucking geriatrics - typing the URL into a search engine? Do you type "gmail.com" into google too?
Wow, people in the comments here sure seem desperate to deny op's true claims. The fucking #1 result from google for "reddit conspiracy" is a fucking subreddit about Finland. A Wikipedia for "controversial reddit communities" is #4. Most results are news articles.
But not even ONE link on the first page links to anything on r/conspiracy. And people saying "well if you search 'subreddit' instead you can find it"? Are you kidding me? You pretend that censorship doesn't exist just because you can figure out a workaround to get around the blatant censorship? Gross.
It's also helpful to remember that if you're either logged in to Google/Youtube/Inbox/Docs/any Google service it tailors your search results via algorithms of what you've clicked before and searched before.
You get a lot of "trendy" stuff. I think it's deliberate.
If you ask me they do stuff like this not to silence but to get these kinds of reactions, same kind of thing with how they promoted Alex Jones in the media. I think they want a civilian uprising.
No you are right for the past 2 months I cant type in conspiracy reddit anymore. Sometimes it doesnt appear at all doesnt matter how many pages you go back. Its getting a bit annoying now I have to log in most of the time and go on my subs.
It's weird that "reddit conspiracy" used to show up for me but now it doesn't unless I say "subreddit conspiracy". But if you just type conspiracy in its like the 6th one.
People will mock you for this, but there is most certainly something strange going on with search results for this sub.
If I search for reddit conspiracy in Google, I will get different results daily. Many times the reddit Finland conspiracy page is pushed as the first result after the ads at the top, but this changes on any given day. Sometimes this site doesn't appear at all in the first page of results. I always search for exactly the phrase reddit conspiracy.
Just today, the only result for this page showed up as the "np" version of the site when that has never happened to me before. This was through duckduckgo and was the first time anything weird happened on that engine.
Lastly, every now and then I'll go to upvote and get a prompt to login. I never put my info in when this happens. Reloading the page or relaunching the browser allows me to upvote as if I had been logged in the entire time.
For me, when starting on Reddit's homepage and clicking on the conspiracy sub in my subscription list it often takes so long to load it seems faster to back out of Reddit all together, google "Reddit conspiracy" then click on that link to get here.

I Googled "conspiracy subreddit" and it's the third link from the top.
Myth - BUSTED.

most people seeking out something on reddit via google are probably not reddit savvy enough to use the term subreddit.
I concur with OP.

I'm savvy enough i'm just too lazy/in a hurry to type it.
Last two years you could type "conspiracy reddit" & it was always the top result.
Now I get BusinessInsider.com bullshit stories & Finland conspiracy.
There are a ton of anti establishment stories that were easy to find on Google and are now buried in the phony results.

To maintain the idea that this community is marginalised and under attack.

And because the more you see it the more "real" it becomes to you since "So many people are saying it, it must be true!"
