Ancient Greek and Roman slavery wasn't based on race at all...if you were defeated in war, you were liable to become a slave. Black, White, Greek, Persian, Gaulic, didn't matter. To the victor went the spoils. Then again- Roman slavery was very different than modern slavery. Teachers, rhetors, and generally cultured people were often "slaves" purchased by a well off family and treated well, used to educate their children. Freedmen also had a disproportionate amount of power in the early Principate, as their status depended wholly on having been freed by their benefactor. Augustus had incredibly powerful Freedmen in his administration because, unlike the Aristocratic Senators, they could be trusted.

St. Patrick was a slave, though not Irish, he was probably white. Indentured servants in the new world are not the only time people with white skin were pushed into forced labor.

Also, the peasant farmers of Ireland under British rule were held in a form of slavery. Although not quite so harsh as the slavery of the Africans, it did result in the deaths of thousands and reduced the population to an extent that it still hasn't recovered to this day.

The whole concept of "privilege" is bullshit. Everyone is "privileged" in a thousand different ways...and this is how is should be unless you are dreaming of living in some sort of bland clone world where everyone is the same height, weight, political party...where everyone wears the same uniform and has the same furniture and drives identical cars to get to identical jobs where they earn identical money and then use that money to go purchase identical groceries. If they come from generational wealth like many white people do then I agree. But this is more class privelige than white privelige. I dont think a white guy and black guy born in the same place with the same parents have much of a change in life difficulty. Probbaly a higher percentage of a chance of being killed by a cop, (anectdotally, in my neiborhood which is very peaceful 3 people have been killed by police in the last year, two white men one black teen all had no guns)

Apparently you do, indentured servants worked for a term of 4-7 years in exchange for transportation between colonies. While, people taken or sold into slavery were just that...slaves, for good.
