Tucker Carlson on Fox just "lost the call" with a teacher from the school who just said, "we had a fire drill this morning at 9:30, so when the alarm went off again around 2:20..." and the call was lost.

A teacher Melissa Falkowski on Rachel Maddow show just said it was the second fire alarm that went off today. 2/14/18 show at about 9:30 eastern time.

The story of the earlier fire drill has been reported on Fox all day, though. There student were witnesses saying they believed that the shooter pulled the second alarm to try to get kids out of the class rooms. Some theorized he had known about the earlier drill

I have read they have officers on campus at all times, maybe he's confusing that? I mean several sources (teachers and students) have said they had a fire drill earlier in the day so he clearly has that wrong.

I agree, that's why I'm taking this guys "I believe" statement with a grain of salt until more evidence comes out that this is true.

In terms of synchronicity, I saw a report (admittedly in a fox news post on Facebook, so keep that in mind) that this is the 18th school shooting of 2018. 18, 2018, wonder if that's just a coincidence? But also the fact it's only February and there have been 17 other school shootings is still appalling.

I used to feel the same way about Fox News, but CNN lies/spreads biased or misinformation just as much if not more than Fox. Don't get tricked into thinking only FOX does this!

This isn’t proof. This is one person saying something. Proof would be a statement or something from the FBI that conveys they were having a drill by the school. This is still an assumption based off what one person said.

Students and teachers were saying they recently had training for a shooting. Some were confused and thought this was another drill. It seems like the shooter deliberately pulled the alarm to cause confusion and maximize victim count. We should wait for all information before coming to conclusions.

Just FWIW, my next door neighbor for about 6-7 years was a cop with a bomb-sniffing dog (kept in a backyard kennel) who was on our local rapid response team (they don’t call it SWAT here) and that unit drilled at least weekly or ever other week — and at least every 4-6 weeks he would be away doing further training with military units or other special units from other cities or states.

And I live in a city of about 100,000, not a huge metropolis. These guys don’t just train two weeks a year.

I would sure hope not. They're some of the highest paid police, and my tax dollars are being forcibly taken to pay those salaries.

If my life is on the line, I want a trained, disciplined, group of people that work well together and aren't likely to fuck up at a key moment.

Police as a whole may be corrupt. I don't think that, but it's a common thought in some circles. SWAT on the other hand are the people I would trust most responding when I was in a crisis such as the school today.

As someone who literally lives in Parkland and .1 miles away from Douglas, you guys are literally looking for things that aren't there. Parkland and Coral Springs Police have drills incredibly often. I'm actually fascinated because I lurk this sub a ton, and now i'm on the side of the stick with my entire city in a national spotlight, and I feel disgusted that people claim there's some type of conspiracy going on here.
