Google hiding negative stuff about Google.

Being enthralled with Google's wonderful ability to find everything on planet earth whenever I attempt to do a search...except what I actually searched for.

I typed in "Why is Google is so fuc**ng worthless" = 6.78 million results

Wanting to expand it further I typed in "Why is Google so fuc**ng" = 2300 results

This discrepancy can only mean that Google is completely screwing with us. It's a bullshit company.

NOTE TO SELF...DON'T POST AFTER DRINKING!!

I still think google is screwing with everything though

I agree stop using it and correct anyone saying they are going to google something

It’s just so much easier to say “google it” rather than “duck duck go it”

“Duck it”.

Never mind, “duck it” is so much better

PERFECT!!!!!’

And as much as I love duckduckgo, the results are just worse sometimes, so I'll have to add a !g to my search.

The top search doesn't have a phrase attached to it.

They always push the mainstream agenda. If you try to search anything with an alternative viewpoint, enjoy shifting through many pages before finding a single link close to what you actually searched for. It's censorship in a sense as most will give up looking after the first few pages turn up nothing.

When I cleared my search history I googled "Reddit" AND "conspiracy" to find my way back out of interest and found the link to this subreddit absolutely nowhere on the 5 first pages of results. I found the subreddits for that Finland nonsense at like number one.

It was the same when I first went looking for this subreddit - I had to type in the URL manually.

It was the 3rd link for me. Completely wiped my cookies and history

They fucking with you

You do realize that new posts don't show up on Google instantaneously, right?

Whys he need new posts when the entire sub doesnt show up til page 5 of google?

It's the 3rd link for me. Regardless, "Reddit" and "conspiracy" is pretty broad. You will literally get any results for Reddit that even mention the word conspiracy.

Exact reason for media de-consolidation. Google protects every company Google owns. Disney protects every company Disney owns etc. 8-12 companies later and all of media is protected from truth in reporting their own abuses.

Did you even look at the results, or just count them? Google found no results for the first one in quotes, so returned the results for the unquoted search. It found 2300 results for the quoted second search, and so gave them to you.

Google is still shady as fuck, but this is just weak sauce.

This is an odd post, 70 upvotes yet a comment that is clearly correct and most upvoted is +12. I'm calling this thread out for manipulation whether OP did it or not. This is a stupid conspiracy and shills are botting it to the front page.

Quotes are supposed to be absolute. Google is ignoring quotes systematically to push it's narrative.

I search for things a LOT, and google just keeps getting worse and worse. Same thing with Youtube. Hell I'm stuck with Firefox because Google in it's wisdom decided that Youtube +'s ability to have an endless and easy to use channel blocker is bad.

With Google, you're only ever going to see a small filtered subset of results "for your own good". Why use Google when there are great alternatives out there?

Google and youtube have been getting much more heavy on the censorship recently.

The amount of search results means almost nothing.

Anything that even vaguely deviates from the “correct” narrative is getting harder to find on Google. I tried searching for the leaked emails from the University of Anglia where the scientists suggest they need to manipulate the data on man-made climate change to “get rid of the Medieval Warm Period” that proves that it was so hot in England that they were making wine is buried beyond the first page. instead it’s opinion pieces about how people who don’t believe that man is the main cause of climate change are crazy and dangerous etc. When I use DuckDuckGo or Yandex I could get the results straight away. This happens to me whenever I search for anything slightly controversial.

Google’s results are generally getting worse. Typing in “reddit conspiracy” should bring up this sub as the first result. They apparently use the RankBrain algorithm which should mean that they take user behaviour and click through rate into account. So even if this sub had fewer links clearly most people are going to click this result even it’s on position 5. The high CTR should then result in this page being recognised as the first result.

Not sure what the answer is I guess you have to try a few different search engines whenever you’re looking for controversial terms

Remove the quotes, dumb dumb. You're telling Google to look for that exact phrase. Of course it's going to find fewer results. Not everyone phrases things as elegantly as you do.

Not a conspiracy. You just lack the knowledge on how to use Google like every grandma out there.

The point is Google found more results for a more exact phrase than a less exact phrase.

The moment I put worthless in the quotes it added EVERYTHING with worthless in the descriptor..thus making anything I actually searched for buried in a haystack.

I know how to search. You simply missed the point of the post.

Because the search with "worthless" was too specific and did a search without the quotes.

Damn you are right. I hate that.

I'm more offended by this comment than your post. Never limit your whiskey consumption.

I agree. Better to simply not post after a certain point. Cabin Fever Maple Whiskey is too good.

Do you know how much google has done for you? All your questions answered by a few keystrokes automatically... RELAX

maybe relevant -

i usually use findx but i wanted to google. i had a hard time searching “how easy purchase assault rifle”

but literally every result was a headline for something about the“AR-15”rifle or it had “AR-15” in the description. bing showed wildly different results. it just grossed me out a bit.

Damn you are right. I hate that.
