Wtf america

Police across the country, historically speaking, have had no problem blasting mf’s on the side of the road, in their cars, in custody, etc but CNN is reporting right now that MULTIPLE police and that armed security guard didn’t/wouldn’t go into a school where there was an active shooter and children whose lives that could have been saved?!!!

But yeah, government should have all the guns
-8 Fiveinchtaint11 2018-02-23
You can’t judge one cowards inaction to that of thousands of those that would act.
1 TheSalvation 2018-02-23
Well it does put a huge dent in that claim "that all it takes to stop a bad guy with a gun, is a good guy with a gun." There was a good guy with a gun on the scene, and he did nothing. Although I guess that's better than some inexperienced, scared teacher taking out one of her students by accident.

Just cause he had a gun, doesn't make him a 'good guy'....
2 destructuring 2018-02-23
Not at all. A teacher trapped in a school building doesn't have any choice but to engage the shooter (or hide) if they are to survive. It doesn't require courage or "goodness" – only a will to live. Even if they don't care about the kids at all, they'd still want to save their own ass.
Members of law enforcement storming in from the outside is a totally different story. That's opt-in, so to speak.
This concept is explored in literally thousands of films and books, FYI.

According to reports, they failed to meet the definition of "Good Guy". Good guys speak up against injustice and corruption.

Not saying you’re wrong, but a rent-a-cop’s salary isn’t gonna inspire heroism.
14 Putin_loves_cats 2018-02-23
The cop here was supposedly making 70k. That's 20k more than the average LEO salary in the US.
0 ogrelin 2018-02-23
I thought the guy was a security guy. My mistake.
3 aevans395 2018-02-23
He was making $75k a year. Not exactly chump change.
-10 ogrelin 2018-02-23
Not exactly a high roller either. That’s not a very good salary, especially considering that the area is supposed to be full of rich folks.
8 Bmdubd 2018-02-23
Fuck off thats top tier in most places excluding big cities.
Even if it wasnt (which it is) he is a cop he shouldn't dictate his heroism based on his salary
-1 ogrelin 2018-02-23
Once more, I didn’t know it was an actual police officer.
And I’m not saying it should. I’m saying most security guards simply don’t.
And, let’s keep it civil, yes?
0 CivilianConsumer 2018-02-23
You sound like a boomer. ..Are you killing time on here waiting for family to call back? You want to keep it civil then why would you bad mouth security personnel? Most armed guards are retired military/ LEO's.

The guy was a sheriffs deputy. Not a rent a cop. I work part time at a mall and trust me I see rent a cops all the time and they don’t make me feel safe whatsoever.
And it was kids getting mowed down. Hero or not he should have done something.
3 ogrelin 2018-02-23
Oh my mistake. I thought I’ve been seeing the guy called a “security” guard, not a police officer. Sorry.
And don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying he shouldn’t have done anything based on his income. I’m saying (if it was, as I’ve seen people say, a security guard) those guys are more for deterrence than action. Hell, I know private citizens that conceal carry and would’ve acted in a situation like that.

Maybe Dick Cheney gave a stand down order?
2 Spider_Goat7 2018-02-23
They were probably told to stand down
1 Apollo_Frog 2018-02-23
What do you think they would say? Tell you the truth? "Yeah, they were ordered to stand down. We didn't want the drill/psy op disturbed. We were technically still in rehearsal".

All of my experience in law enforcement (Blue Bloods, Mannix, CSI, Hawaii 50) tells me he was told by a stern but fair captain to "Wait for backup! I repeat don't go in!" This is what mostly always happens. Plus nobody was there to say, "I got your back." So that's, like, a no go situation. That's what happens in the real world. Ask Donnie Walberg or Tom Selleck who I refer to as "Dad".

Protocol changed in the US after columbine. You engage the shooter. You don't wait for back up.
3 Kendle_C 2018-02-23
Which show did you learn that on?
5 its_spelled_Hawaiian 2018-02-23
Reno 911

Lieutenant Dangle is a considered authority in all things law enforcement. He's my favorite LEO (that stands for law enforcement officer) so my order would be: Chief Reagan, Danny, Lt. Jim Dangle, Mannix, Dano and McGarrett, of course. I'm looking for action figures to trade. I can meet you at the 7-11.

No love for Serpico?! What gives man?!
2 Kendle_C 2018-02-23
Shot in the face! Listen Man, man (said in the voice of a savvy black guy with a mustache) You don't know the real Serpico so don't even try to go there! There are folks in New Jersey who remember the actual events, family, man, family!!!!

Bullshit.
1 Kendle_C 2018-02-23
I know! You're a hard boiled tough talking detective, and action hero. Hard hitting, let me guess... you are Rick Hunter of the Hunter TV show, only in real life, right?
0 Lo0seR 2018-02-23
That shit just falls apart, those brave men (women also) in blue confronted head on during the Battle of North Hollywood, and these were full auto they were up against. Backup came to them, they stood there ground until heavy firepower showed up in order to combat the situation.
2 Kendle_C 2018-02-23
Yeah, 44 Minutes: The North Hollywood Shoot-Out was a great movie. It was almost what would happen in real life if something like that ever happened. Michael Madsen plays an experienced, tough as nails, hard bitten gumshoe who marches to his own drummer but always got yer back while being somewhat discourteous to "the Brass" but in an endearing way. He's a people's guy.

AI ?
1 Kendle_C 2018-02-23
Yeah he starts drunk the night before having been divorced because of the pressures of the job as a LEO, still, he has visitation rights to see his crippled daughter who is threatened by a violent step dad who our hero knows he'll have to face down the pink toed fatty tyrant usurper but this is resolved by the end of the movie; The oppressor humiliated. The gay friend of the wife advises her to get back together with the ex husband, as usual, as in real life.
2 RemixxMG 2018-02-23
Well memed my man.
-3 foreveradrone71 2018-02-23
Of course. He could have shot back.
