Religion is an important asset of the TPTB, a system of control and brainwashing that you're born straight into, that you can't question and taboo to even talk about. It makes you docile and accepting of your position and fate in life (don't worry, heaven will be better). Fat chance they would outlaw something so valuable to them.

All tech companies and foreign countries are racing to build a functional AI. It's been said since machines learn one million times faster than humans, that an AI would learn all of human history in a month, and be so advanced the next few months that other countries might not have a choice but to nuke the company that has it.

Also a theory that an AI already exist, created bitcoin so the mining makes it grow (the money is just incentive to get humans to make it grow) and that it may turn into A Strong AI soon.

One I've been thinking about is an MKUltra like program being used in CIA black prison sites. Seems like brainwashing and a torture program would compliment each other nicely, and there's very little oversight into what's happening in those sites as well.
