Who runs AboveTopSecret.com
33 2018-03-21 by 3421431boom
So I am a active member of this site.
Now recently in the last couple of years it has been taken over by right wing politics. Any time this is brought up, anytime their is a attempt to discuss this further on the site the mods shut it down.
I have seen a thread on a far-right forum that states they were plotting some kind of take-over of the site.
I now believe that AboveTopSecret.com is under the control of a alt-right group and the only question remains is who is running it?
SkepticOverLord no longer posts, Springer does not seem to have much interest either so who owns it and who is running it.
I wanted to post this to see if anyone has any information on this because every time I try to post it on ATS it gets blocked or gets me banned.
Thanks.

I am getting hit with a pay wall.
William Irvine is SkepticOverLord he has not posted on his own website in months I done some digging and it seems like he has moved on.
It appears like he still logs on every now and then but the general day to today running of the site seems to have been taken over.
I am concerned because I done some research into the extreme far right and their relationship with the site after I noticed a massive influx in far right posts. I found a link to a far right site which discussed how they some plot to take over ATS.
This is the link: https://www.stormfront.org/forum/t502670/
Any time I tried to discuss this on ATS I was banned or it was trashed

I don't get a paywall and I'm not sure why you are. All I get is a anti-bot verification.
I know nothing about that site or the people behind it, I've never been there.
I won't click on a stormfront link, thanks.
1 3421431boom 2018-03-21
yeah I don't blame you for not wanting to click the link I might actually just edit it out that place is shit hole

With all due respect sir, you "did" some research. Sorry.

I got sick of the BS on that site and i follow some new sites such as Giorgio Tsoukalos lendendarytimes, and searchteam! Good luck on disagreeing with everything else.

I go to ATS multiple times a day and I can't really say I agree with you. Yes, there are more political topics, and most deal with the right somehow - but I think that is a symptom of where we are at collectively as a society.

I totally agree, its just that the site feels like a shadow of what it once was. I used to post there regularly a few years back but now its became very toxic.
Like I say the point of this thread is really more in wondering who the hell is running the place because it feels like the patients are running the asylum so to speak.

The site was politically polarized by left-wing politics in 2008. It never recovered. It's not really a right/left thing. You are feeding the same thing that led it to where it is. If unknowingly... there's a lack of awareness on your part.
Pre-2008 the most political post was "Bush did 9/11" vs. "Military is in a tight place. We follow orders."
During the (pre) election onward there was noticeable astroturfing that never really died down. Today is a different landscape. It's rare to find any sites with active readership that isn't being controlled top down (e.g. reddit mods being bought out, sub creation) or large scale astroturfing by bots or paid accounts.
Twitter et al are the worst places where political messages are posted on repeat for consensus cracking.

The problem is the psuedo-left appearing astroturf campaign coming out of the election was so over the top that any of us that sit close to the middle, and think all this retarded political theater by this pseudo-left, kicking and screaming like a bunch of bitches, is ridiculous. As soon as i see this "alt-right/right wing takeover!" bullshit, I know I prolly have an 80% chance it is just more of the same whiny astroturf.
Soros and Co. overplayed their hand, and reasonable people just point and laugh at it now. The real problem here is that we won't be able to tell if there is a real move by actual dangerous right wing groups.
You guys shit the bed and destroted your credibility.

Its not really got much to do with left vs right its more I am just wondering what has happened to that site.
It used to be you couldn't go a few weeks without one of the owners bashing out some thread about manners and decorum or something. Hell I remember they even issued a warning after 2012 not to publish "I told you so" threads because it might upset some people.
Again its like its still running, the lights are on, but nobody is home.
1 KarmicEnigma 2018-03-21
To be fair, the same can be said about the right. Breitbart and similar sites were working overtime on the astroturfing front.

It's a bit ridiculous to hold such strong views now that Cambridge Analytica has been outed. For all you know they were spamming as snowflakes while simultaneously meme'n to ridicule them. Thus creating the narrative you hold true.

I browse it. Seems like recycled material from her that.
1 3421431boom 2018-03-21
its all open source stuff, I liked it because I liked the way it was set up as a forum, found it very easy to use and very user friendly.
Just unfortunate what its turning into
1 Deckard256 2018-03-21
Yeah I hear you on that. I used to like it because of the skunk works/ black projects that were on there, but the crazy level of politics killed it for me.
1 Broken_stoic 2018-03-21
I used to browse ats all the time around 2010-13. It was great, and filled with curious smart posters. Most of the subjects were about paranormal stuff, ufos, conspiracies etc.
Recently I've looked at it, and your right- mostly ugly divisive politics, mostly right leaning stuff. Almost every article or posting had "trump" in the title. I feel saddened knowing a good site has been thoroughly destroyed and polluted.
1 3421431boom 2018-03-21
This is exactly how its been destroyed.
The problem is that the owners seem to have vanished, the site is going down hill big time. Posting and moderation standards have slipped, its very buggy, sometimes a page just won't load for example.
Feels like nobody is running the show.
1 gematrix 2018-03-21
it was purchased years ago by cia/mossad, hence ATS RECAPs stopped and the old people/owners vanished.
1 mrs_bungle 2018-03-21
Any source for that ?
1 KarmicEnigma 2018-03-21
That’s around the time I was reading it as well and they had lots of good stuff. I quit going when they reformatted the site and it became a mess to browse - I remember a lot of pop ups and it slowed my computer down so I gave up on it. Sad to hear the content went down as well.
1 Colorado_love 2018-03-21
I was (am) a long time member on ate but stopped visiting the site shortly before the election.
It’s DEFINITELY not the same. Like so many sites these days.
1 cinagrod 2018-03-21
well I'll need to go have a look sie. I left a few yrs back because of the over the top librul bent to it.
1 3421431boom 2018-03-21
haha you will love it!
1 GuruOfGravitas 2018-03-21
I have never been to that site until now, but that list of headline articles looks like it could be breitbart or any of the other nuttier conservative offerings.
1 3421431boom 2018-03-21
its basically breitbart regurgitated
1 theawesomethatis 2018-03-21
anyone running an independant forum site like that is going to be right wing.
if they were left wing they'd be on instagram, twitter, blogger, facebook, youtube and telling you to click this to support that.
social media narcissisim is a core of the left.

This is false.
1 John_Nada 2018-03-21
I have the impression there were lots of military folks there, and many of them are involved with yet strongly deny government-related conspiracies.
1 LeroyGivens 2018-03-21
The site is a honeypot. If you have any doubts, trying posting anything with the word "Tavistock" in it and see what happens.
1 Bulldogporridge 2018-03-21
That's godlikeproductions mate
1 Step2TheJep 2018-03-21
For what purpose? How is the data useful to those using it as a 'honeypot'?
1 macredsmile 2018-03-21
The entire internet is a honeypot
1 tastygoods 2018-03-21
All life.
1 Bulldogporridge 2018-03-21
I agree. I'm a kiwi and yes there is definitely more AMERICAN political rubbish. Just like here. And same there don't mention guns because the AMERICAN nutjobs won't actually discuss anything. Just like here.
1 Loose-ends 2018-03-21
I frequented both ATS and Godlike Productions when they first came on the scene but began to see changes that eventually made me lose interest in them a few years back. The more control that is exerted over what can be discussed the less spontaneous and insightful the comments tend to be.
In a word there's an obvious bit of "gatekeeping" going on that leads one to question who's really behind it and what is about certain topics and events that they really don't want being discussed in any depth?

Not alt right probably a honey pot

i found this... apparently five years ago people were wondering the same thing. https://np.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/16mh2v/is_abovetopsecretcom_run_by_agentscia_something/

During a government shutdown several years ago. ATS and GLP both went down.
