A warning I gave a year ago.

A year ago, I warned everyone about the digital foot print they are leaving behind

This is just a reminder, no matter what you do to hide, your habits and behaviors can be linked. Please be aware that there is NO PRIVACY.

Be it from the government or big online corporations, you are being monitored and "tracked".

Thank you for your trivial reminder of a widely known fact. I hope you feel better today.

It's not a "trivial reminder" when more than 90% of people are unaware of this. They think their phones, tablets, PCs and TVs are all safe and secure.

If it wakes up one person to the fact that they are being monitored I'll be good.

Have a ln even better day, don't be so dismissive.

I’m not dismissive. I think you don’t know your audience. Everyone that visits this sub knows this. Anyone outside of it is in a happy ignorant bubble.

I know my audience.

I'm playing towards that one new person that checks /new and sees this and hopefully is a little more cautious with their online behavior.

I know my audience.

You clearly don't. You spoke to an audience that is mainly aware of this already.

He did it on purpose. Jesus fucking Christ why is this sub all about attacking each other lately? Fuck, it makes it unbearable to be here and this is the one place on Reddit that should be unlike the rest. Yet it isn’t.

You're fine. Truthfully, you need to reach more than just that one new person. Too many here really are ignorant (or just plain unconcerned) regarding just how insidious the tracking and aggregation of our very personal/intimate information is, and the depths to which it is and will be used against us.

I can almost guarantee that a fair percentage here think, "Hey, I don't do anything wrong or dishonest, so why should I care." Their eyes are just now being opened, but they're still squinting and blinking. Keep prying until they're completely open.

You're very wrong. Reddit is not habituated by super-informed intellects, as much as we would like to believe we are such a thing.

Really, go peruse r/politics or any controversial sub and check out the comments and logic going on there....from all directions, btw... I'm not making a left vs right reference here.

We have just as many ill-informed people on reddit as anywhere else. Not everyone comes to heret to study and discuss evolving technology and world affairs.

It's not a "trivial reminder" when more than 90% of people are unaware of this.

Yet you post it in /r/conspiracy, the one sub where everyone is aware of this...

And what do you want people do do with this information? Are you trying to scare people into silence?

"trivial"

The government are literally at war with it's people, how else can it be described?

Well not “literally” since I don’t here any gunfire, odd for where I live though ironically.

Thanks for acting like a snarky child for no reason and downplaying a serious matter.

It warms my heart to see such arrogance and ignorance parading around here.

Scrub your accounts. The best policy is never to post personal information about yourself, even if you think no one can connect you to it. If you posting information about your personal life on places like reddit, make sure you are scrubbing those accounts. It won't keep you safe from the government, but it will help keep people from figuring out who you are. If you make a new account, make sure you nuke the last one. I like to change accounts on reddit at least once a year. Karma is a number.

Scrub accounts, throw away your pc, buy a new one with cash from a physical store, move to another city with another name and hire new provider. Use separate accountnto log into separate clusters of reddit subbs and change the way you chat or exoress yourself online. Even your grammar mistakes can be unique and traced.

Quite a few times I almost posted information that would make me identifiable on reddit. Definitely took a step back to think about it and avoided it like the plague.

Think about this, something as simple as uploading a picture on a gaming subreddit with your gamer tag is plenty enough to be identified. I feel like people don’t realize how easy it is to find out who you are now a days.

Yep, you have my upvote.

The people need to be able to watch what the Government is doing and where they are going and what they are saying...if the government is doing that to the people.

Its gonna be BAD!

I deleted facebook in 2009 when Goldman Sachs bought into the company. I knew it was gonna be a privacy shit show from that point on. Everybody thinks you are crazy until you are proved 100% correct. Always trust your insticts, freinds.

It’s nice that I can’t find myself on google searching my name. Never liked that fact about any social media. I felt as though anyone could find everything there is about me through my posting history pictures etc.

even when you have proof its still not enough for the cognitive dissonance

Why didn't you warn us sooner?

Did you think the free platfrm was to help?

I assume

I assume whoever wants to know my real-life identity can find it I assume whatever I have ever typed on internet platforms is stored and searchable I assume I am in a special database solely because I am a conspiracy theorist I assume the powers that be don't see me as a real threat because I am still alive I assume whoever I chat with online may be an agent, a paid informant, or an AI bot I assume our species is entering into an information matrix like a rocket entering a black hole I assume my efforts, or anybody else's, to change that trajectory, will probably fail I assume my purpose on this plane of existence is to try to do the right thing

Sometimes I like to think that after the growing pains, the ubiquitousness of tech and surveillance will eventually pay off for humanity

An optimistic reading and very welcome since all my assumptions are pessimistic.

Can you describe how we might get from here to there? If indeed power corrupts how do we distribute the power of having ubiquitous knowledge of each other in toto? I don’t know what I would do with it - do you? And if we do not trust our current masters will we fare better with their emergent automatons?

yeah it's going to have some serious growing pains for sure. t'will be darkest before the dawn as they say.

I don't have those answers though i'm sorry

And?

Not to be a dick but if you had joined this sub before the Trump panic you have known this year's earlier.

https://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/j2bce/the_government_is_watching_you_governments_at_all/

We've been talking about it for a LONG TIME.

I was here before that, but thanks for trying to gaslight as always.

BTW, You brought him up, not me. Don't know why you're so stuck on him.

Makes two of us. This sub is out of hand.

My mistake then. For some reason I was convinced that you showed up about a year ago with your first Conspiracy post being about Trump.

https://www.reddit.com/user/WarSanchez/submitted/?count=150&after=t3_5p524q

And I wasn't disagreeing with you or trying to be a dick "as I prefaced" I just remembered when, you know before Trump was the POTUS, the overwhelming consensus on Reddit was that /Conspiracy theorists were morons for suggesting that we are all being spied on. Suddenly we have a POTUS that Reddit doesn't like and everyone is trying their hand at Conspiracy theories.

Nep, and if it's any consolation, I prefer Trump a million times over Pence.

Pence is 100% an establishment puppet.

I have believed in conspiracy theories my whole life. My parents gave me a good foundation for that.

I mean, didn't everyone know it after the Snowden leaks? I think that was the biggest warning out there.

shadow profile scandal a few years ago, that was enough for me.

How am I doing guys?

Fine, and I'm not going to let that make me shut up. Thanks

I don't give a shit if I am being watched. They probably think my life is very boring. LOL

I kinda don't care about them seeing my stuff. What're they gonna do, look at the porn I watch ?

Even if we were to completely extricate ourselves from all of our connected devices - ceasing any form of direct online interaction - we are already well past the point of no return.

Heh..."deleting" your information from Facebook, Google, wherever, and/or "closing/deleting" your accounts is an utterly futile exercise. Our information has been so extensively disseminated into the databases of organizations that we have never even heard of, it is literally impossible to wipe our footprints away. Each and every one of us have been profiled, cataloged and contained. They know more out us then we know about ourselves.

Our most intimate and private information is routinely flying around the interwebs, through our medical records, credit card/atm activities, and any and every company we do business with on a daily basis. Utilities, groceries stores, even our own vehicles. Facial recognition advances have wiped out any hope of our ability to control our privacy. Walk into many of our major grocery chains, and you are immediately registered/identified via your image, and (if you have your wifi on and in certain cases, even if you don't, just via apps and your mobile connection) your mobile device, and your loyalty card if you have one. They record where you go in the store, and even where you look on a shelf, then coordinate the information with what you actually end up purchasing, parsing it back to your 'unique user id' to update your continually evolving profile.

The only thing left that we can do is accept the inevitable. AI is setting itself up to rule the human race.

I honestly think at this point the chilling effect of the Panopticon is more dangerous than the information they have on us. If we take the Snowden revelations at face value (this recent FB shit is irrelevant), then we truly do have no privacy, neither from the government itself, nor any of the private contractors and every other private company they can share that data with. If PGP encryption isn't breakable with quantum computers today, it will be in 5 years, 10 tops.

I think that really leaves us with two options: never do anything online that would be seen as subversive at all (meaning this sub, for sure), or speak out loudly and more unabashedly. "They" don't just want to suck up all your data, they want you to know they're sucking up all your data, because the last thing they want is for real communication to break out amongst the populace.

Hail Eris.

"The fear of death is the beginning of slavery," Hagbard said simply.

Since 2013 I do not leave a digital because I don’t just klick accept on everything and not give a shit. But most people do so let them be I guess
