What’s the rush?
5 2018-04-05 by daichimiyu12
I am sitting here waiting to drop a package off at work but all I can do is think have anybody ever stop to ask NASA what’s the rush? Why are these other countries and the United States in such a hurry to live on other planets there’s been a lot of chatter of late about space stations and sustainability of life and so forth. Is the government hiding information about the earths demise from us? Just a ? What do you guys think? Please all are welcome to respond even if you think I am crazy.

Space is a distraction. There is more land then what we know, but it is being hidden from us.

Yeah but if earth is sick or the sun is dying that land rather hidden or not is pointless don’t you think?

Fucking bull shit.

Simple English alludes you but you know the hidden secrets of the world. Sure thing champ.

And I bet you still believe Earth is a perfect sphere lol

There is a reason all celestial bodies are essentially spherical. Its a natural consequence of gravity acting on the centered mass of the object.

If the earth was the size of a basketball the human eye could not detect it anything but a perfect sphere.
The atmosphere, at that scale, would be the thickness of a sheet of paper.
It would definitely be really smooth
It is the point that most "alternate" shape thinkers can't grasp... how fucking big it all really is.
This puts it in perspective.

If by believe you mean can prove, sure

It’s taught, not proven.
1 WadeWilsonforPope 2018-04-05
Nope definitely proven that we do not live on a flat plane.
Heres a really simple proof. The sun moves degree an hour every hour regardless of where you are on the planet.
This proof is not possible on a FE

Look man I’m not saying the Earth is flat. But to say it’s a sphere is just as ridiculous. And your point would still be possible on a FE.

Haha alludes or eludes? Looks like you should check yourself before you wreck yourself.

Our lifestyle is very unsustainable. In a matter of decades, earth may become uninhabitable. I think they are simply looking for a plan b.
1 daichimiyu12 2018-04-05
I believe that may be sooner than you think
1 monkeyfrets 2018-04-05
It may be. I'd be surprised if it's more than 30 yrs.
1 WadeWilsonforPope 2018-04-05
Doesnt that answer your own question?

The sooner we become an interplanetary species the better. Space territories won't be owned by nation states but instead by companies. Pioneering companies know that if they are the originators not only will they be able to make the rules but the new world would be shaped by them. Expect a moon base within the next 5 year's and expect the space mining operations to begin shortly after. It will be exponential growth after that happens. Like crazy exponential. If we can create installations that can produce and create everything they need not only to survive but to also expand and build more installations.. there really is no limit to the growth of humanity.

A moon base in 5 years? Hahaha

Why do you laugh at progress? This isn't science fiction this is happening now. You should be reading about it and following it instead of laughing at it.

I'm laughing because it's always been just around the corner. That's how con artists swindle you into giving all you've got in taxpayer money.
1 prolix 2018-04-05
It's being done by independent companies. I guess that shows how much you're following it right?

The status of their dependency is irrelevant to whether or not the goal is realistic.

Clearly going for a Science Victory.

it is the easiest victory condition, it's a shame nobody turned it off at the start of this "game"

Its pretty obvious we've passed the ecological tipping point.

They want YOU to leave for the other planets.....

Because we're making this one unlivable for humans.

IDK about space colonization, but we're on track to develop advanced general intelligence (AGI) around mid-century. I have a pet theory that the powers that be will let global markets develop AI to a certain point that it's not sentient in a way that threatens them, but helps them sustainable run a one-world government. Then, once they alone fully control AI development, they will be able to safely allow tech development to continue, only in ways that they'll be able to enhance themselves and eventually transcend, without risking someone else developing a rogue pure, non-human AI that might be able to outsmart them
