Murder Cult in NYC

7  2018-04-06 by nightfire08

So, I originally posted this in /unresolvedmysteries but it got like 7.5k views then immediately taken down.

There's a group of people handing out super weird posters in NYC that talk about solving cold case murders- I got handed one in Union Square today, that lead to this website:

www.helpfindsophia.com

Be forewarned: super f*ing creepy.

What did the poster look like? It looks more like someone's weirdo art project than a website about a cold case. Definitely creepy though.

this. super weird, right?

Yes, very weird. Especially the part about the note saying she needed to "find herself"

Dude this is all your posting about. It’s clearly your brain child. At least try to be sneaky

I'm not the only one posting about it man. Like I said, got handed a flyer in the city. Believe what you want.

Googling the name doesn't return much beyond a murder in el paso which is a different girl.

Just curious, is this for the faint of heart?

Sure, it's fake af. The OP here is just promoting his own little LARP, this account of his is probably one of his alts. The account was silent for 3 years, suddenly starts up again yesterday with a post about this poster to r/unsolvedmysteries and a bunch of other subs, almost all comments and posts since then are about this game of his.

With friends like that who needs enemies?! Thanks for nothing OP!!

Just my opinion tho, maybe the whole thing is real and there's some explanation for the weird account activity. But yea, probably just a fun LARP, no harm no foul.

Y'all, I told you I posted this in unsolved mysteries in the original thread, and it got taken down for being "too current" or something- mods said because it had to do with missing persons NOW, couldn't post about it. So I went here, and a couple other subs to see if anyone else saw this shit.

Like, look through the subs. I'm not the only one saying they saw the posters.

I mean, really, wtf ever. Think what you want. It's just weird, I was wondering if anyone else had seen anything like it. Didn't mean for it to turn into this whole big thing.

Dude... a body with its legs and arms severed was found in a New York City park on Monday and I thought about this, so crazy

What's the password?

MASK

Figured that out. What's the 2nd password? Losing patience. Feels like a movie promo or something.

Yeah dose anyone have the 2nd password

SHADOW

TRUTH

It reminds me of the BadSelf eater thing.

Yes! Bullseye! Not falling for that shit again.

It would honestly all make sense if it were another cryptic pro lifer shtick.

Yes. Now that you've pointed it out, that's exactly what this seems to be.

How far dose this go

I got to the 3rd Puzzle and I am totally stumped

I know I'm stuck there too I'm dumb so I'm probably never gonna find out

Why would there be riddles to solve a murder

Because it's not to solve a murder. There were "autopsy" reports on the third page referencing what I would consider vampire bites. It's probably some guerrilla marketing campaign for some TV show or Movie

Its not, just an ARG

Fake and gay.

She went missing a year ago but how come the photos look like 1990s clothing?

Have you stepped out in public at all. 90s clothing are making a comeback. Just look at all the young women wearing high rise jeans. Very unoriginal

Why not a #findsophia or whatever her name is? If the goal was to find a real person they would be handing out a flyer with a random email account on it... get real

You're right.

Then how do you explain the 90s quality photo as well?

Shit camera or a person who can’t take stable pictures. In addition, the picture is printed on a piece of printer paper. Come on now!

Someone should post this in 4chan

3rd pw is TRUTH

Do you know the 4th? Lol almost tempted to show up on April 27th

Totally tripped out and fascinating, does anyone have the fourth password? Could this be a viral marketing campaign for a upcoming movie or something? Way to strange! I want to know more

If you go into the third page and go to the email completely BIZARRE

Too creeper out to log into a random email. Lol What's in it though?

It creeped me the fuck out. I'm not gonna lie.

What was it??

whats the password ?

  1. MASK 2. SHADOW 3. TRUTH

Still working on #4. Plugged in a bunch of constellations in English with no results. Need to try in their native language next

I would click but I can't because I'm at work.

Recommend passing to 4chan.

I guarantee you this is art.

I remember seeing the same type of viral marketing for The Blair Witch Project when it first got a limited release in NYC. They had fliers all over the East Village with tear-off tabs that had a website listed on it. It was really well done and, given the time, was look at being pretty legitimate. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just a marketing ploy.

The website was created on April 1st

r/creepypasta

cmon man.

Group of people? Viral advertisement for an upcoming movie, game, whatever most likely. Its an ARG.

Sooo... anyone gonna go to the place on the map? Did you make this?

This is some grad students project on social engineering or some bs. You can search the riddle on google. Foh with this

Anddd after reading your comment history it’s obvious you’re the dumbass grad student.... try harder

sounds about right

OP is either an idiot or is trying to promote something.

MASK 2. SHADOW 3. TRUTH are the answers to the riddles.

This is the last page you get too when you solve them. https://imgur.com/a/XEoSK

TLRD; So, I'm leaning towards LARP, but it is done just well enough at every turn I have taken to make me want to dig a little more. This is what I found.

Website is registered to a company that registers on behalf of people and keeps their info private.

If you follow the links especially the last one this sub thread figured out the password for (TRUTH) you get an interesting story in a rather cryptic way. Basically, the author(s) of the site is giving the impression that he(or they) is a vigilante that has been killing members of a "brotherhood" that targets young women. Notice the two Autopsy reports have the words "my trophies" above them. If you use the email and password to get into the site that the author claimed he hacked (it is, in theory, a copy of the original site and has no obvious malware attached) you will find yourself in a forum where the latest posts are the vigilante trolling this group about the hack. The forum itself has about 10 pages of posts going back 2 years in both Russian and English.

Most of the early posts are welcoming new members and reminding them of rules about their "targets". All members are referred to by numbers not names. Some posts are in Russian and some are in English.

As you get close to the hack (most recent posts and when the site would have been taken down) they are trying to calm worries about someone killing their members in Chicago and re-assuring their members that they have enough CPD infiltration to make sure nothing is found that would spark an investigation into the brotherhood's activities.

If someone had any kind of connection at Chicago Police you could probably verify this as a LARP or not pretty easily with that forum. The links along the side have other information for the brotherhood about this person killing their members including 2 pictures of the vigilante brandishing a knife. One taken by a CPD dashcam and one by CPD helicopter, along with a police artist sketch.

Until someone can prove to me those photos are real, I'm leaning towards this being a LARP. It's a lot like Q in the sense that it's too far down the line of something I, like many of you, want to be true emotionally.

That said, I'm still curious and want to see what is past the 4th password, if anyone figures it out. I spent a fair amount of time searching Google for bloody smile and Orion without success. Walking around the block of that address on Google Street view and couldn't find anything related to Orion or a bloody smile.

anyone know if the autopsy reports are real ive been checking deaths and all but i cant find any real victims that are dead but match the description
