Conspiracy Theory: Lie detectors are accurate, and are only inadmissible in court because powerful people wouldn’t be able to get away with doing sketchy things.

Why do we use aloe detectors at all if they aren’t accurate? Seems like them not being allowed in court is a loophole to prevent people from being compelled to take a lie detector test.

Just looking to start a dialogue. Anyone have anything to add/share/comment? Rebuttals, anecdotes, etc.

Russian spy Robert Hanssen passed multiple lie detector tests while they were searching for who was leaking identifies of Russian double agents. It is definitely not 100% accurate.

What if he was actually innocent and just used as a scapegoat?

That’s an interesting example though, thanks. I’ll have to look into that more.

Read about Robert Hanssen. He was not a scapegoat. Really really interesting story. They actually made a movie about him called "Breach" that was pretty good.

The FBI was wondering why all their sources in Russia kept getting caught. They tasked Hanssen with tracking down the mole, but he WAS the mole. Really crazy story.

Sounds like the plot of The Departed. I'll have to check it out.

That's insane. I'm sure to take a look at that.

I've taken several lie detector tests, they are not 100% accurate, especially if someone's had time to prepare

Doesn't a lie detector test look for contractions in your sphincters s well as heavy perspiration and an increase in heart rate to tell if you are lying or not? Also, it's down to human interpretation which, lets be honest, is easily corrupted to say one thing of another.

A lie-detector is like a skeleton key, it would be nice to have, but it only exists in mumbo-jumbo land.

They are inadmissible because you can fake it out by controlling yourself. Takes discipline but anyone can learn to do it.

Lie detectors tests are easy to fake, if anything the elite want them to be perceived as working so when they fake a test, their testimony will seem more legit.

Cops use those speed guns to determine if you're speeding and the readings are used in courts, despite the fact that they can never always be accurate.

It's a flawed system, write your congressman about it, then go back to being subjugated to it all.

Ahh, so kinda like the DNA hair samples?

Lie detector tests, from my understanding, just measure your heart rate along with a few other biometrics. It's not that difficult to learn how to control things like this.

There was an ex-cop who was an expert on administring these tests, but eventually realized it was all bunk science and that it's easy to learn how to pass the test. So he set up a business where he taught people how to pass lie detector tests. He eventually became too dangerous to the lie detector industry, and eventually entrapped him and got him arrested.

That's awesome, this is the kind of stuff I was looking for with this post. Thanks!

No problem. I’m a wealth of useless knowledge like this due to random podcasts, haha

Part of the test seemed to be intimidation. I saw a picture where a person was wired-up: head, fingertips, chest and up his nose.

They arent accurate. All they do is read your body's response to questions and compare it against a baseline set of questions.

The easiest way to trick them is think of a question with the proper answer.

"Have you ever smoked marijuana"

Think: have you ever smoked crack

"No" - steady reading

My first 7 years of my adult life would have been vastly different if slmething that simple didnt work

Why do we use aloe detectors at all if they aren’t accurate?

A so-called lie detector is a tool that police use in order to coerce you. First, you shouldn't be talking to the police for any reason. They are not interested in finding information that points away from you. They are only interested in gather information that points to you as the perpetrator. They lie, they coerce, they intimidate, all to get you to give them evidence against you. A lie-detector is no different. It is a tool that police pretend is accurate and then come back and intimidate you with "details" about your results. But, like I said, you shouldn't even be talking at all, let along while strapped to some bullshit machine.

Exactly... the idea behind lie detector tests is for the police to be able to point at a machine and say "it tells us you're lying" in the hopes you will change your story.

Many people who are lying can be fooled into incriminating themselves simply by saying "I don't believe you"... they try to 'convince' you, and in so doing expose the contradictions in their story.

A short introduction into how they operate. There's FAR more going on in an interrogation than you would think. And none if it is good for you if you are a suspect.

I was thinking of this video when I was typing. I mean, I've known to keep my yap shut for decades, but this guy puts it all out there without ambiguity.

lie detectors are a bad joke and super easy to 'beat'.

As the george said... Remember, it's not a lie if YOU believe it.

Forgive me for asking but... “the George”?

lol at the thought that people with actual power would be put away because of a lie detector test ,if it wasn't part of the agenda.
