The YouTube shooter media blackout

Anyone else think it's interesting that story died within a day, and all her websites and content were removed, as if they're erasing her from ever having existed. Scary shit.

Yeah, that does seem a bit off. Also worth noting is that the outrage with Mashable using a photoshopped picture of the shooter was a huge scandal at the time, almost about as a big a deal as the shooting. It makes you think..
1 blaaaahhhhh 2018-04-24
In what way was it a ‘huge scandal at the time’? The only coverage I saw of it was in the usual places on the internet pointing out the usual fact of how certain media outlets try to westernize the look of criminals using photoshop and wording.
Hardly a huge scandal. It’s common play by now with the MSM and had been for a long time.
Same with how because this killer didn’t fit the narrative, the story was swept under the rug, along with stories like the 3 black thugs that tortured a white Trump supporter or the news that the Waffle House attacker recently tried to break into the White House and kill trump. Sure, it gets some back-end coverage, but not like narrative fulfilling stories. Still waiting for info on the Vegas shooter.
Not sure why you find it ‘a bit off’. It’s common play now. It’s been this way for a long time.

Didn't they get that photoshopped picture from her own page, as in she was the one to photoshop it? Not much of a controversy there, and certainly not enough to eclipse the actual shooting itself.
It's disappeared from the news because there aren't any open questions - she was mentally disturbed, mad over de-monitization of her channel, she gave off several warning signs that she was planning something, and apart from a few injuries there were no casualties. If there were deaths or any open questions, you would still see people reporting on it.

No, what was left to the story?
1 StopHAARPingOnMe 2018-04-24
Well for one they said it was a domestic violence issue not what it was, shooting over demonetization
1 zippityd0dah 2018-04-24
That, plus the shooter didn’t fit the “all shooters are white, male conservatives” agenda.
1 StopHAARPingOnMe 2018-04-24
Yup. They did cover that dude that killed the journalist but that was because she was a journalist
1 beatsbeingbroke 2018-04-24
that’s been the theme. our attention spans are getting shorter by design.
1 AppleSauceCereal 2018-04-24
Yeah wasn't there a van attack yesterday and a waffle house shooting over the weekend? I barely paid attention to either. I would say one random killing a week seems normal to me now

The YouTube what ?
1 hrc-for-prison 2018-04-24
She was an animal rights activist that disliked Google/Youtube demonetizing her channel.
So she drove over to Youtube's headquarters in Mountain View, shot and injured 3 people, and then killed herself. More info:

funny like there are posts like “where the fuck is tony, why is no one raging about tony” and im like who the fuck is tony
1 gottalovesunrise 2018-04-24
Yeah. Like, what is going on. I feel like I have to put up a board or something.
1 Jokapo 2018-04-24
Legit asking...who is Tony?
1 ashzel 2018-04-24
Never mind that. Look at Paddock shooting. That thing was basically gone from the media within a day and it was the largest mass shooting in history.
1 the_nonagon 2018-04-24
I still get chills thinking about this event.
1 Coincidence-Theorist 2018-04-24
No it wasn’t

Us soil it was
1 perfect_pickles 2018-04-24
many American Indians and historians might disagree.
1 pablo_o_rourke 2018-04-24
You’re right. The American Indian tribes killed each other by the hundreds quite regularly.

1 pablo_o_rourke 2018-04-24
Yup - definitely a travesty. Doesn’t negate the fact they killed each other and hunted to extinction for centuries. They weren’t flower picking peace-loving hippies as they’re portrayed.
1 gnrlysrs 2018-04-24
Sure, but we massacred them en masse, so saying that Vegas was the worst shooting on American soil is disingenuous
1 Bugeguts 2018-04-24
who is this we? everyone involved on both sides of that issue has been dead for centuries? People always do this they say WE in reference to historical events almost always atrocities and almost always in reference to european peoples? I'm not responsible for the sins of my father stop assigning blame and guilt to the collective conciousness for the atrocities of the past its not right, its not true and its not healthy for anyone.
1 gnrlysrs 2018-04-24
I said we as in the USA, didn’t mean to imply us, don’t be so sensitive.
1 Bugeguts 2018-04-24
Its not being sensitive the way you frame things changes the way they are interpreted an the way they are internalized. You should be more aware about the way you think and speak effects the intent and meaning behind what you say.
1 gnrlysrs 2018-04-24
No worries bud I edited the original for you.
1 pablo_o_rourke 2018-04-24
That was not a single person with guns mowing down people. Its disingenuous to equate the two. And as pointed out “we” didn’t do it. Speak for yourself and don’t group me into your self-loathing.
1 gnrlysrs 2018-04-24
That self loathing shit is projection, I feel no guilt for what the government does as I am not part of it, bud. Cool your jets.
1 therealleggy 2018-04-24
Honestly i wish we wouldnt bring up history. I dont know why indians get all these perks from 200+ years ago but poland who got whacked by hitler gets 0 from germany
Yeah history sucks choices of past leaders sucked but i dont think i should have to pay for it or give pref treatment to those who did
1 Davilip 2018-04-24
It lasted for weeks? Just last week the New York Times got access to footage from in the hotel but they still haven't found a clear motive.
1 TheRealSteveBlackman 2018-04-24
it really didnt though did it? it was in the news for a week then went. Like remember when Michael Jackson died and that was THE news item no matter what for like 6 months? Thats what vegas shouldve been.
1 Mynsfwaccounthehe 2018-04-24
Media has an equation. More deaths = more content = more air time. Then factor in ethnicity, age of victims, potential for story to evoke emotional response, does it serve a narrative.
1 itsjeremyson 2018-04-24
It didn’t fit the current agenda.
1 cooldad420 2018-04-24
aw. someone just discovered the news cycle. how cute.
1 djeee 2018-04-24
No one died, the end.
1 Trollzek 2018-04-24
They don’t like when shootings happen that they didn’t plan, and that don’t fit their narrative.
1 timstolt78 2018-04-24

1 gaslightlinux 2018-04-24
You need to have three () in order to be antisemitic.
1 SessionsComin4Ya 2018-04-24
So wait, it WASN'T a false flag?
1 gaslightlinux 2018-04-24
Lulz. Yeah, didn't you know it was a Saudi Prince they were trying to kill, but he was actually disguised as a twitter?
1 BaSkA_ 2018-04-24
You will only know what they want you to know, that's pretty common.
1 StopHAARPingOnMe 2018-04-24
