People going after Childish Gambino

Just noticed significant numbers of mostly bad 'parody' video which seem to demean or distract from the message of the song and video. Just saying

And that message is..?

This is America.
1 ogrelin 2018-05-14
It sure is.

I was expecting a rick roll but that was much better😂

Winner Winner!
DG is a smart guy. So long as DG remains silent as to the question: "What's the message?"; people will talk about it what it means to "them" - the audience / the viewer. Just the way art interpretation was always meant to be.
1 richard_golbes 2018-05-14
Agreed. The interpretation I am sure CG would disagree with is the claim that there is a single correct interpretation.
1 Afrobean 2018-05-14
He's telling us what America is. By showing over-the-top gun violence juxtaposed against silly dancing.

Cant stand his new video that song is garbage
1 Glitch206 2018-05-14
It is awful.
1 Albeezy1r 2018-05-14
Bruh that song is lit. And hes not really rapping or anything just phrases and ad-libs you would hear on other songs.Kinda like critiquing current music.
1 kylesnooze 2018-05-14
I agree, it's a good song, some people are just salty at his message. Whatever you feel about it, the dude has a right to speak his mind and create art relevant to him
1 Afrobean 2018-05-14
This is it. He's clearly been getting smeared for political reasons.
1 Glitch206 2018-05-14
What about the song is good though? I don't care if he wants to speak his mind. Where is the song? He says like 3 words.
1 kylesnooze 2018-05-14
It's good because I like it and find the beat and flow catchy. You don't have to agree, but you can't objectively state it's a bad song when it's popularity has clearly shown otherwise

interesting logic
1 seanr9ne 2018-05-14
Would you have a different view if you thought he made it shit (the song) on purpose as a parody of current popular hip hop culture?
The song is turrible but I thought the video was fairly well done mixing messages in with some pretty decent dancing, which I think was designed to distract from the overarching message of violence.
1 Inam9797 2018-05-14
Not just that but it clearly seems occult in intent and message. Evil through and through, at least that's the impression I got from watching it. Nothing artistic or organic about it.
It's weaponized "art".
1 Throwback_559 2018-05-14
I miss 2pac. Real music

" It's war on the streets and the war in the Middle EastInstead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs "
1 3attheelephant 2018-05-14
The video was poor in every aspect. The music, the lyrics, the dancing, the symbolism. All could have been shown in a more powerful respect than what it was.

I'm confident the dancing is a straight up parody of Drake's Hotline Bling.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxpDa-c-4Mc
As far as symbolism, I've only watched it once and it's clear it's a commentary on our violence in our society and goldfish like memory towards mass shootings.
1 3attheelephant 2018-05-14
Why parody something that isn't relevant to the message you're spreading?
You make a good point. I didn't see the "goldfish like memory towards mass shootings" at first, but now I see the prevalence of it in the video.
1 hewho_laughs_last 2018-05-14
Just because you've misinterpreted the message doesn't make the parody irrelevant.
How can you even write something like that without being conscious of the possibility that your interpretation is wrong?
1 3attheelephant 2018-05-14
There's a fine line between not noticing something and misinterpretation.
1 RobertAntonWilson 2018-05-14
A billion people watched that video before me.
I could happily have waited for another 14 billion.
Drake sucks.
1 RobertAntonWilson 2018-05-14
Who doesn't love that stinkeye?
1 lilchoppagunna 2018-05-14
everything that is popular on the internet gets meme'd
his video got over 100mil views in a week, sure it sucks that some memes are probably distracting some kids from the real message, but trust that majority of people with a brain saw the original video and were impressed by how powerful the messaging was.
1 SugusMax 2018-05-14
It's hilarious how people that criticize Gambino don't know jack shit about his work and base their entire opinion on the latest song he released, when he's been making music for over 7 years. He literally put out an album called "Because The Internet" which mocked/criticised the entire online culture at the time.... People are fucking stupid.
1 dahdestroyer 2018-05-14
dudes a fucking puppet
1 Sage_Ascendant 2018-05-14
You mean the guy who wore a jacket with the eye of providence on it at the met gala last week? Yeah, I'm sure he's on our side LOL!
Who paid for the video? Who marketed it? Find the answer to these questions and you'll see who this video was meant to benefit.
1 bigthunda1187 2018-05-14
My thought in the video is that, everything he says or do in the video is what he thinks happens in America. But in a way some of it is true.
That just my opinion on the little clips I sawn. I could be wrong since I haven't seen it.
1 scarlit 2018-05-14
awesome thanks
