Biased Stickies

Should r/conspiracy allow them?

Careful, thinking like that's bound to put you in contest mode.

What is contest mode?

Something made for contests, that the mods here like to abuse on any thread that challenges their bias.

From when Reddit announced it -

Moderators, you can now turn on contest mode in your voting threads by clicking the "enable contest mode" toggle on the comments page. This will have the following effects on that comment thread:

  • The comment thread will default to being sorted randomly.
  • Replies to top-level comments will be hidden behind "[show replies]" buttons.
  • Scores will be hidden from non-moderators.
  • Scores accessed through the API (mobile apps, bots) will be obscured to "1" for non-moderators.

Contest mode is a temporary feature and will be removed early next year. In the mean time, we hope it will be a useful tool for your communities. :)

It basically makes it impossible to have any sort of discussion in the thread, and is used primarily to hide any post that goes against the current US administration.

Ah, thanks for the in depth explanation. Hahahaha I've seen it used here before. Kinda bewildering for it to be used in a conspiracy sub.

Grow a spine and call it out directly. /u/axolotl_peyotl and his stickies is who I assume you are referring too. He is targeted by TMOR on each and every single post he makes, and because of hes the creator of this subreddit he just stickies post that get brigraded instead of letting those weasels control what is seen here. If scrolling past 1 post you dont like made by the creator of this sub reddit is that much of a issue for you I suggest not looking.

You're incredulously passionate about this. So much that it's embarrassing.

Tell how you really feel bud.

Refer to previous comment. Thanks.

What is your problem and why do you think you have a monopoly on being right?

You were, actually, the one that came at me with a problem. My post was just asking a question. One that I hadn't thought through. You insulted me (which is fine) and blasted me with a huge defense for whatever reason. Your comment rubbed me the wrong way. I apologize for my snarky reply.

You come to sub for all the wrong reasons. You can see in your post history, you go from asking who is Q not 2 weeks ago to crusading against him in /u/axolotl_peyotl stickied post. And now you want to cause more bullshit here with these stupid fuck meta posts. Its clear what you are doing and it wont work.

Lol I was sarcastically asking that.

It's sad to see you're still in righteous, battle-mode.

Have fun with your angry life.

Just wanted to say this attitude irks me so much that I’ve gone through and downvoted all of your comments and upvoted all of his, because I think this mentality is dangerous to the sub and should be discouraged.

Didn’t want you to think you were being brigaded or whatever.

Cool fucking story dude.

Cool fucking story dude fuck fuck fuck.

Why is it whenever I comment on this particular topic and from this particular stance, I start seeing so much profanity? You wouldn’t be trying to rile people up, would you?

You know what? Im being a bit of a cunt and apologize. Long day.

Thanks, I can appreciate that this topic is probably often brigaded/trolled/astroturfed and so tensions sometimes run high. I appreciate your candor and I apologize as well if I said anything which could be considered a faux pas. I haven’t discussed this stuff much, or in a while.

I apologize as well if I said anything which could be considered a faux pas.

No need you were absolutely polite and correct.

I'm trying to imagine what type of conspiracy post won't have some bias. Do you have an example?

Not just a post, but a stickied post. I think I remember seeing one you had posted that was informative and without bias.

I don't think I've ever had a stickied post. Maybe one of the [no meta] posts that we've tried lately?

It was a [no meta] post. I may be misremembering who posted it or whether it was stickied.

It was probably u/CelineHagbards post. Those have been awesome.

Anyway, the mods vote as a team to decide stickies, usually when the post is suggested by a user to be stickied and we take various things into account. Keep in mind, though, we only have two sticky spots and one is usually reserved for our weekly round table discussion that is voted on by the entire community.

To clarify the other user's suggestion that the mods may put this thread in contest- contest is honestly only used when the mod team has ample evidence that a thread is being actively brigaded. I can't see that being the case here.

Ah, that was it.

Well, thank you for those clarifications. I am still fairly new here and largely ignorant to, I guess, the different facets of what goes into deciding a stickied post, round table discussions, contest mode, etc..

I'm glad to be pointed into the right direction. Thank you for that.

No trouble!

What is your problem and why do you think you have a monopoly on being right?
