How can a journalist ruin a court case? There's tons of journalist outside of courts in USA. Reporting everything that happens.

There are parallel cases going on with multiple defendants. Hence the reporting ban until they are all over otherwise they could get off on not having a fair trail. In the US they would keep the news from the jury by locking the jury away in the uk they place temporary bans. Tommy Cockwomble could have put child rapists back on the streets with his stupidity.
