An odd tip for thoes of us that are concerned.

I upvote basically everything.
A profile can easily be made with what kind of person we are just from our upvotes and downvotes.
It is a simple method to figure out where a person stands in their life. No need to dig through thousands and thousands of words. When you have voting history, you know exactly where they stand.

True story OP, take my upvote

I almost didn't upvote this because I agree so well

I have reddit set to hide anything I vote on...upvote everything, refresh...repeat.
1 opi_oid 2018-07-01
Hide only means other users can't see it but you can be sure that your clicks are still being tallied and contribute to your personality profile.

You miss my meaning I think. I know the votes count after I vote on them and they are hidden lol. It is my strategy for consuming reddit, so I don't have to keep scrolling through shit I already interacted with over and over.

I didn't know you could do that 😮 I'll have to find that setting

Thanks! 😁

Indeed. I wrote a post a couple months ago about how valuable that data can be for creating psychometric profiles.

That was a great post, CH. I'd be utterly shocked if they weren't analysing and using Reddit vote behaviour to build individual (and aggregated) profiles.

Sorry but the contents of your comments will always give you away to anyone that chooses to view them.
Or would you suggest making comments in favor of anything and everything to keep those you fear and worry about from figuring out where you stand because if that the case you might as well stay away altogether and find something else to do.

30,000 people cannot read the 10 year long comment history of 5 billion people. They can use a computer to count votes on filtered submissions for desirables and undesirables.

The degree to which this forum is suddenly inundated, shilled and brigaded on any topic that steps on the toes of the powers that be flies in the face of your casual and careless dismissal.
There's no limits to "key word recognition" and how it can be used which is precisely how most companies automatically sift and sort through all the resumes submitted to assemble a short list of precisely the candidates they happen to want.
There are also AIs in the works that can in fact do what you happen to believe is so impossible to do.

Which is why you should upvotes based on the quality of the post instead (and sometimes in spite of the content.

Sometimes when I upvote particularly good comments, Reddit prompts me to log in even though I am obviously logged in (on mobile).
When this happens, I usually launch a new tab, go back to Reddit and, lo and behold, I was never logged out. Isn't it odd that a site would prompt one to log in if one is already logged in? Good thing I double checked the first time it happened and discovered that I didn't need to blindly enter my password when prompted by Reddit.

But you're not supposed to vote based on whether or not you agree with something, so your voting history really has nothing to do with where you stand.

Whaat arre you concarned about, AFuxkYou?

I think they are basically done with the profiling of anybody in the world that has online access, I recommend you work on an undeniable pattern that shows you are good for "them" this way you can fool them into ignoring you, otherwise just be yourself and try to get power so you can avoid the issues when they come, life its danger all the time, not only from what may happen to you online, sneezing kills many people every day, also slipping in the shower

This idea has always drove me crazy bc my votes aren't really based on what I like and don't like, and a test couldn't take those into consideration.
title, username, mood, lie, intent, perceived age of op, subreddit, politics, perspective etc...
1 ntschaef 2018-07-01
What the OP is assuming is that we only vote possitive on views that support our echo chamber. If someone upvotes based on the quality of their post (regardless of the stance), then this hypothesis is shot.

You don't think they're eye tracking you 24/7, reading your thoughts etc?

i am here so that the world knows exactly where i stand and that is the only reason
but yes if you don't want that, then you have to insert chaos into your feed that they analyze
in this way you use your own disinformation to disinform the disinformers and that is pretty cool i think :)
