I don't care if I get down voted for this but thank you for not bombarding this sub with these BS headlines about the Elon Musk debacle. I bet he knows something we don't yet. Eff the controlled MSM BS surrounding this. I bet that guy really is a pedo, why wouldn't he take a stance yet?! MSM always trying to break good people with BS drama. No more f*&ng drama.

I always thought it was odd how it just came out that he donated a bunch of money to a Republican PAC and this comes out a day or so later.
1 ogrelin 2018-07-16
I’ve been purposefully ignoring all that noise, so forgive me if I don’t get it, but what’s wrong with him donating money to his preferred party?
1 Fiveinchtaint11 2018-07-16
Nothing at all. But you know as well as I do some don’t like anyone donating to a Republican causes. Especially someone in a position that he’s in.

That position being on top of a mountain of money.

As I peruse zerohedge, they seem to have a hardon for destroying Musk. But the longer you look at it, you start to realize that it's the trade sector trying to destroy him. It looks to me as an attempt at a hostile takeover of Tesla.
It also appears that Musk's ventures don't follow Wall St. traditions. Yeah, he's willing to lose a shitload of money because he believes in his product. He's not going to keep doing something if he sees failure on the horizon. Musk puts a lot of his own cash into his ventures, and he has a history of success through persistence.
One of the most disgusting claims I've read was that he has a "history of failures" then the cite SpaceX early tests as failures. Rocket science and the stock market don't belong together.

Zerohedge ... the answer is in the name. Hedge funds have been shorting Tesla from the beginning, and the window is closing on the bet. There will be billions lost if Tesla remains successful. These attacks on Musk are an elevation of the Tesla hedge problem.

Yeah, it's not my go to news, but some of their articles have helped me understand world economics a bit better, and they are conspiracy-minded as well. I hate that all the commenters seem to be miserable bastards who cross the line from anti-zionist to antisemitic without blinking.
1 Capt_Irk 2018-07-16
Don’t get me wrong, I think Zerohedge is an excellent news outlet, but they are geared towards Wall Street and stock exchanges. Expect the anti Musk rhetoric to ramp up even more in the near future.

You say you dont want any drama or bs, so why come here and post your bs?
1 meandmykind 2018-07-16
I believe if there is anywhere on Reddit to express an opinion/concern that is met with rational thought it's here.
1 Camfella 2018-07-16
That requires rational opinions, otherwise it leads to the drama and bs you claim to not want.

Well you're accusing a guy of being a pedo based solely on the word of one guy, doesn't sound very rational to me
1 meandmykind 2018-07-16
It's strange that someone in the position of Musk would hastily make such claims if he didn't know something.
1 Sunglasses-At-Nite 2018-07-16
Yes, no one in a position of power has ever used their influence to start a witch hunt before. He also has a history of acting immature on social media so its really not out of character

Because rich powerful people always make the right decisions?
1 SuckMummysFinger 2018-07-16
It sounds like your fondness of Musk is clouding your judgement here.
1 TucanSamBitch 2018-07-16
Musk isn't superhuman. He makes mistakes all the time
1 ClassicFives 2018-07-16
He's considering a lawsuit, what else would you like him to do?

The ONLY reason I like Elon musk is because he seems to be one of the few businessmen out there trying to change things in our world in a positive way.
He’s selling solar panels that look like roof shingles and batteries that can store enough of that energy to power an entire house or apartment building. His electric cars have popularized the idea of owning a car that doesn’t run on gasoline. And if his hyperloop system can do what he claims it can (NYC to D.C. in 30 mins) then he is on the way to revolutionizing the transportation industry.
I guess when I see negative news on Elon and his companies (which I see very often), I take it with a grain of salt and think about all the rich and powerful entities he has out there hoping for his failure. The kind of people who would prefer things to always stay just as they are.
Maybe it’s just the kid in me who thought we’d all have flying cars by now. But the older I get, the more I understand how resistant our business world is to actual, real, human advancement and change. It makes perfect sense that the people making a living on the current system the way things are would be against anyone trying to change it, even if that change could make the world better for the rest of humanity.
But at the end of the day, Elon Musk is a human being like the rest of us. And just like the rest of us he can be a total asshole. I don’t have to like the guy to like what he’s trying to do.
1 ClassicFives 2018-07-16
The last part is what gets me the most. He can and is doing so much good and it would be so much easier if he wasn’t such a flaming aashole for no reason. And they’re all unforced errors! Nobody is making him say/tweet/do inflammatory things but himself.

One or more hedge funds are taking short positions and using the media to dupe people into betting similarly. They're hitting the guy on at least a weekly basis on Zerohedge, hiring propaganda/marketing firms. This type of manipulation is criminal. A lot of it, I suspect, is envy by people who think they're the big swinging dicks. There are assholes in the world that think a gain earned by hard work and innovation is somehow stealing from them. Psychopaths one and all.

Awww poor billionaire didn't get the chance to play hero. I'm sure his ego will be just fine.
1 dankchia 2018-07-16
Can someone say ressentiment? That's communist tier skulduggery.
The competent and conscientious (who aren't rent-seeking vampires) provide great value for the rest of us, in getting shit done. The system compensates them accordingly. Billionares with high aims, and benevolence towards humanity, are potentially that much more of a force for good.
1 MarioSpeedwagon13 2018-07-16
Elon Musk is doing a pretty good job of destroying Elon Musk.
It always bemuses me how many neckbeard fanboys rush to the defence of this billionaire.
1 dankchia 2018-07-16
The white masculine male, exuberant capitalist, accomplishing great things in the world. More like a contemptable trifecta intensely frustrating ideologically possessed legbeard's and, truthless postmodernist g o l e m s, embodying ressentiment and slave morals.

Musk's earlier tweet said it was "suspicious" that the diver was an ex-pat living in Thailand, then went all in on the pedo comment. It was an awful accusation based solely around perceived stereotypes of westerners living in SE Asia.
But people say dumb things all the time. The attention this is getting is the climax of months of anti-Musk articles being circulated on social media. Pretty much since he started coming out strong against unions, left-leaning outlets have been trashing him.
1 facereplacer3 2018-07-16
It's so coordinated I have to assume there's more to it than Musk is just a douche.
1 tehlolman1337 2018-07-16
Elon pissed off the wrong people when he announced his news platform Pravda and with this tweet https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1000560049389907969?lang=en
They are simply running a smear campaign on him. It couldn't be more obvious tbh.
1 panty--lover 2018-07-16
How can it be a smear if it's based on his own tweer
1 TrouthSeekeur 2018-07-16
I can't imagine Musk throwing the pedo insult without him knowing something. This could get interesting...
1 Camfella 2018-07-16
