I had to leave a silly Mandella Effect group i was in on facebook because those people were blaming every misremembering on the ME. My gut reaction was to respond to this post the way EVERYONE responded to each other in that group.

"Its because we've jumped timelines! Everything is upside down! CERN has merged dimensions and nothing makes sense! This is why it has happened so fast! CEEEEERN"

In the beginning, when the ME was first gaining some traction in the conspiracy community, I was captivated by those first main stream examples. Some of them felt genuinely out of place to me and then the scientist at CERN made that incredibly weird picture of him smiling alluding to the mandella effect.

The problem is that once those initial ME had lost its charm, people just starting making ridiculous stuff up. I mean... just literally stupid shit. I then stayed in the group to troll people who "in their timeline it was spelled SKIDDLES but in this timeline it is spelled SKITTLES". I had a field day with them. But the line was drawn where someone was "literally freaking out" because adidas was spelled ADIDAS and not ADIDDAS... I was done.

Makes total sense. I was just curious! I'd hoped you didn't take my question the wrong way, which can happen sometimes.

Anyway, that's similar to what happened to me. There are definitely some things that I'm not totally convinced are simple misremembering, but people are making a big joke out of the whole thing now. Almost like when conspiracy forums all over were being flooded with flat earth people.

I think the issue is that the corporate media's control over the public's worldview is just falling apart. People can't be controlled like they used to thanks to the Internet revolutionizing the communication of information for the average person. Throughout human history, there have always been wealthy gatekeepers who control the means of communication, control over the TV networks, control over the printing presses, etc., but now everyone can cheaply and easily communicate any idea with anyone anywhere. The cognitive dissonance people are experiencing is the corporate media's filter clashing with raw information about the real world that the media has always been able to keep away from the masses.
