What is up with r/GreatAwakening?
1 2018-08-17 by TheLlamaGod27
First, let me preface this post by saying I have never been one for conspiracy theories. I’ve never been on this sub, don’t believe any major conspiracy theories, and generally am someone who tends to believe the assumed version of events. But this subreddit is something else. I am afraid this post will give them more attention? But honestly I needed to find somewhere to talk about this.
Before I get into the contents of the sub, let’s first look at how active it’s 50,000+ subscribers are. Currently, at the time of writing this, 16% of the subscribers are active on the subreddit. In case you haven’t been on Reddit for a while, that’s insane. For reference, this is more active than all my subs combined. My most active subreddit, r/SmashBros, has a measly 2%. Even really active subs like r/TheDonald have only 2%. So to get 16%, there’s clearly something really fucked up going on here.
r/GreatAwakening revolves around The Q, which is confusing as fuck, but I’ll try to summarize it as easy as possible. A quick google left me with the definition,”“Q” represents a mysterious individual, or group of individuals, who began in October 2017 posting online updates on secret actions allegedly taken by the Trump administration to purge corruption from the United States and the world.” But here’s the thing. That was one of google’s first search results, and it is clearly biased in favor of the Q, and I had never seen the site before now. Then I saw the video for the page and realized, it was one of the top posts in r/GreatAwakening.
But the creepiest thing about the subreddit has to be its users. If you look through the top post, every user has a very similar flair, and they all speak in the same way. Every single person utters complete praise for the idea, and they all share the exact same beliefs. I know this sounds a bit like r/TheDonald, but there there’s people actually having discussions about their beliefs, these people all have the exact same ones. By clicking on the first pinned post, you can see countless paragraphs praising the Q, condemning parts of America, but then I decided to scroll to the bottom. The two bottommost comments struck me the most. First is someone arguing against the Q, but in a way that is clearly not sincere. They express how it’s okay that,”Hillary and Obama are Jews”. The whole argument was clearly written by someone from this same hivemind. Then at the very bottom, a comment and a reply, both removed. Were they random users who stumbled across the subreddit?
A lot of people have a lot of different ideas as to what is going on with this subreddit, but there’s clearly something sinister going on. In fact reports have come out that the Q likely has a very strong connection to Russia. This seems to be the leading theory among many. As a said, I’m not really one for conspiracy theories, but after stumbling across this subreddit, I knew something was really wrong. I don’t know if they have bots outside of their subreddit, but even if I get downvoted to hell, at least I got this out.

Me? This is the longest post I’ve written to be honest 😅

You should go talk about it in r/Qultheadquarters.

Why would I bring it there, I’m perfectly happy having it here. In fact, looking at your post history, you are very active with both r/GreatAwakening and the Q in general. Care to give your opinion on the topic?

My opinion is that you should start reading Q from day 1, read all the supporting material and decide for yourself. This post is lazy and gossipy.

I’ll read the about the Q a bit more, but Q or no Q, can you agree there’s something going on with r/GreatAwakening? Even though I bet the people on it are passionate on their beliefs, 16% is way too high of an active rate, and it’s been flat for about an hour now. Coupled with the fact that it seems anyone who has a differing opinion gets their comment deleted. It’s not normal in the slightest. I’m not giving my opinion on the Q. I’m giving my opinion on r/GreatAwakening.

Also I looked at your user history to see if you were active on the sub, since I was hoping I could talk to someone with a differing viewpoint. Sure enough, your most recent posts were from there.

Why wouldn't my most recent post be there? I just told you that I'm Q's biggest fan.

Hey wait, you’re awfully active on r/GreatAwakening aren’t you? Great. This is perfect actually.

Great, can you tell me what you think about this then? It would be interesting to hear someone else’s opinions.

Jesus, not Russia again. Why does everything also have to be Russia?
Even a broken record is right twice a day.

Yeah, OK you Russian bot
1 TheLlamaGod27 2018-08-17
I said that the popular theory is that it’s Russia, not that it was them for sure. Besides I don’t care who it is, something is up with this subreddit. It’s very hard to deny there’s something going on, Russia or not:

Dude, this is prolly not the right sub for you. Try r/politics or r/chickswithdicks instead.
1 TheLlamaGod27 2018-08-17
Again, I’m not debating on the Q or Russia, just the subreddit. There’s clearly something wrong with it.

The reason it seems that way is because any comment that doesn’t fit their narrow point of view is attacked without mercy, so most everyone outside that narrow view either leaves the sub or stays silent. I left.

This is like going on r/funny and saying "I don't have a sense of humor, I don't understand this sub" :/

"I hate sports but tell me why they throw balls around and what is up with grids and scores and whistles and stuff."
