Are Humans Earths Brain?
1 2018-08-20 by quantum_of_quantum
Imagine for a moment that the Earth is a living entity.
The earth gives birth to all life, and also creates various environmental changes on the surface that aid life and earths life.
A meteor hits earth and what awareness does the living earth gain from that damaging experience? At the time the earth would have been in darkness, blind, the Dinosaurs on the surface experiencing terror and fear but not giving conscious feedback to the living earth on what is happening.
The earth reacts by producing new life. Life capable of conscious thought. Humans that can analyze the world around them. Humans that can aid and defend the earth by gaining understanding of the universe around it.
The humans become the living earths conscious thought giving feedback as our souls and bodies are absorbed over time. Afterall nothing leaves the earth we all know of gravity it is odd that everyone believes we go up when we die as if all things float up but our reality would suggest gravity would pull our souls toward the center of the earth where conscious thought and memory is absorbed.
Our purpose is just to keep questioning everything. To gain knowledge and to defend our only home and mother EARTH.

If this is true, it makes sense to ask the question: Why are we destroying the Earth at this point?
A logical assumption that can be made is that humans have always relied on destruction to survive, as an animal that cannot produce its own food like plants. We have to take it (agriculture falls under this), or kill it.
But what happened that we can now destroy to such an extent that the Earth itself is threatened? Is this a mutation, or what?
Interesting post. Thanks.

I would think that the gift of conscious thought comes with terrible unintended side effects like free will. We aren't fully aware of our purpose and free will allows us to pursue anything we desire. The desires of the masses can be easily manipulated to benefit the desires of a few and that is the mess we are in currently.

This is my take as well. People are unconscious, those who cant feed themselves in 3rd world countries have 6-8 kids who also suffer and starve, deforestation, slave labor camps, human trafficking, organ trafficking. If Humans are Earth's brain then the immune system (good) has noticed the brain cancer (bad)

We might be Earth's parasites. That's why we're destroying Earth because we're the kind of parasite that kills its host. However, the occasional "great flood" could be what flushes the parasites away.

Same reason I destroy my brain.. don't want to deal with the problems

We are nature's brain.

Do you see the stupid shit we do every day?

More like Earth's cancer. Turning slow-release toxins like natural oil spills, into massive waves of plastics, CO2, methane, etc. All this happens far faster than the ecosystems can adapt, thus causing strangulation of habitats to more complex life forms.

Brains are not aware of their existence. Brains can also make bad and wrong decisions and brains grow and learn from their mistakes. If humans are earths brain then we are acting exactly like a normal brain would.
If mining metals and using the earths oil enables us to build technology that in turn helps protect earth then we are actively moving towards earths goals. However these same materials are being exploited for profit and greed by taking advantage of human desire and free will. The profiteers move us further and further from our intended purpose and cloud our minds with selfish frivolous pursuits and telling us to seek meaning from things that never pan out.

The Earth is a ball of materials varying from Hydrogen to transuranic elements.
It is in no way, shape, or form a "living entity".
The Earth does not give the slightest fuck if we completely destroy the atmosphere and habitability.
The Earth does not care because it cannot care, it is a ball of crap spinning through space.
Deluding oneself into thinking the planet is some living entity is simply childish wishful thinking.
1 guruft 2018-08-20
The earth cares by mutating the living that results after the explosions. Earths karma is best served cold.
1 Dogeholio 2018-08-20
Nope.
The results of those detonations are the results of the hand of man, has absolutely nothing to do with the Earth.
1 guruft 2018-08-20
Please provide proof!
1 Dogeholio 2018-08-20
Don't be idiotic.
Mankind detonated the bombs, radiation affects human cells due to the physics of radiation which has absolutely nothing to do with the Earth.

Human brains allow us to harm ourselves. This is a consequence of free will. We have the will to live and we have the will to die. We have the will to create and the will to destroy.
However all humans also have instinct and that feeling in your gut telling you right from wrong. Your gut says "Dont throw that garbage on the ground pollution is bad for the earth" but you do it anyway because others say "It doesn't matter". You have that gut feeling you saying "Killing others is wrong and suicide is wrong" but people can go crazy, the brain can fall prey to wrong ideas and we can all be driven towards the ends of evil.
We have always been told to follow our gut in all religions. And most religions refer to this feeling as the voice of god. What if the feeling is really just the will of the earth being passed through us as its brain.

100% made up horse hockey.
No matter what you "believe" or fantasize the facts stand: the Earth is a ball spinning through space and it does not react to anything because it is an inanimate ball and nothing more.
1 quantum_of_quantum 2018-08-20
At one point the "Facts" were that the earth is flat. It goes to show how little we understand about our environment around us and how much we still have to learn. If it makes you feel better to believe that we have it all figured out then go on living like that but don't be so pretentious to push that belief as n absolute on everyone else.

Believe whatever you like, I could not care less.
Spouting off crapola about the 'Da libbing Earf' in a public forum deserves refutation from a standpoint of reason, critical thinking, and science.

I'm glad you're confident in your words because I'm definitely not.
1 Dogeholio 2018-08-20
You believe silly crap with no evidence to back it.
Not surprised, tis common.
1 quantum_of_quantum 2018-08-20
Is belief in "Silly fact" not just simply a hypothesis? Without hypothesis there would be no discovery of the truth.
1 Dogeholio 2018-08-20
Believing in nonsense that has no evidence supporting it is nothing more than fantasy.
A Hypothesis requires evidence to support it before it has any value.

for someone so upset about science you certainly don't seem to understand the scientific method at all. You have it wrong and I hope you can learn from this source.

Give this a watch. New info to me, but it proposes something like our skulls are shaped parabolically to focus aether to our pineal glands. And this effect can be amplified artificially using concave mirrors, giving us super-human mental abilities -- telepathy, telekenisis, time-travel... whew.

Weirdly, just started considering this myself, over the weekend. I think all existence may be slightly universal neural net.

part of it but not entirely. bec, we have not explored every inch of this planet yet just the surface. we cannot rule over the depths which we cannot even reach. hence, we have no control over it and the living things that dwell there.
1 minedutymax 2018-08-20
Seen as we’re the most ‘intelligent’ species, we’re lucky enough to make decisions for Earth and even space, effectively making us the Universe’s brain. Really interesting topic.

The mistake exists on the first line: imagine the Earth is a living entity. While life exists on Earth, there is no evidence that Earth itself is alive. Imagine things from a naturalistic perspective. In this, we aren't the "pinnacle of evolution". We are the current most successful species on Earth. Humans became so widespread because of their intelligence and versatility granted by it.
The main issue is Occam's razor. We are familiar with the mechanism by which life evolves and changes. For example, when dinosaurs went extinct life didn't "end". Small creatures, similar to modern mammals, survived in reasonable numbers. The bottom line: why should we assume the Earth is alive if there's no evidence for it, and we knew a mechanism by which life evolved?
1 quantum_of_quantum 2018-08-20
Maybe the definition of "life" is wrong or doesn't apply to objects the size of planets.
1 redditready1986 2018-08-20
I like to think as all the planets, stars etc in the universe all make up whatever the universe really is. Like if you look at us or our brains under a microscope and see all the little things and moving parts that make us up.
1 iseeyoubruh 2018-08-20
the universe is inherently connected. Plus we all are a result of waves.....

People ask how we are different from animals. Language? Nope, dolphins have that. Tools? Nope, apes have that. We are the only species capable of potentially leaving this planet and populating other worlds.
1 blacktao 2018-08-20
b/c we've populated "other worlds" before right?

Or the entire planet is the brain and the humans and everything on it are something like Neurotransmitters
