Smear campaign against Elon Musk?
1 2018-09-02 by Wookland
Does anyone find it a bit weird how a man who is a huge threat to the fossil fuel industry can go from being beloved and pretty much the second coming on reddit to the human punching bag of reddit? This all seemed to happen over the course of a week or two. I'm just hoping to see this discussed a little bit in the comments. I know its probably a dumb connection.

Anyone who opens his mouth gives trolls some juicy material to last for some time
1 Pandelein 2018-09-02
Eccentrics tend to have their ups and downs. He’ll bounce back when he does some more cool shit.
1 Loose-ends 2018-09-02
It would be better if got all of the bugs out of his ideas before peddling them to world as if he already had and he's done as much damage to his own credibility that way which has left him wide-open to personal attacks that many people are inclined to believe because of it.

Progress is not flawless - and nor should it be. But people are too comfortable to have any risk willingness
1 Kobrag90 2018-09-02
Word in a few circles is that investors are thinking about trying to have him investigated over fraud charges for his poor record of meeting even his own targets.
1 Simplicity3245 2018-09-02
You mean when his empoyee's do cool shit.
1 TruthSeacker 2018-09-02
Most retarded comment of the day.
Do you expect one person to manufacture thousands of cars per month? One person to design and build hyperloop? One person to launch things into space? One person to plan a Mars mission?
Of course his employees do all the work. How does that take any credit away from him for putting all of these incredible ventures together?
1 whynotdsocialist 2018-09-02
I think when he announced that delivery production was back on track....that fucked with his industrial saboteurs sponsors head a bit.
1 ecwmadman83 2018-09-02
He knows a lot of thing that they don’t want public. This smear campaign is a way to discredit him if he talks.
1 bradok 2018-09-02
He made one mistake. He alluded to the Reality of the glue that binds the entire Elite apparatus together when he called out the Thai cave diver as a Pedo, and refused to back down on that, doing so again just the other day.
Sounds quite random, but when you look into the incident you'll see it was far more than meets the eye. The reasons those kids were in the cave, the reason they were rescued, who rescued them, and of course Elon's role and what he knew of the incident.
He fucked with forces far greater than himself and they're trying to put him in his place.
1 mastigia 2018-09-02
He's far too old to be put into the position they like.
1 kit8642 2018-09-02
I feel that the Thai joke/insult was fuel for the fire. I tend to think he really made his enemies when he attacked the media establishment by saying he was going to make a rating system for journalists.... Which is a great idea.

A great movement

Maybe Grimes was a plant to get him doing/saying stupid shit while he was high, instead of focusing on any sort of progress
1 thelords_cheeps 2018-09-02
/\ This.
Study the mainstream media and learn. They (the reporters) exist to defend those who prey on children & to attack those who defend them. Observe the cause & effect, how the accused are forgotten yet whistle-blowers are punished. Musk hit a nerve.
1 heymikeyp 2018-09-02
I need to know more about this. Sounds very interesting.
1 no_muslim 2018-09-02
So you think that calling people pedo is fine?
1 LosJones 2018-09-02
Can you provide some more info or links about this? I've never seen the evidence supporting that pedo claim.
1 Fnarley 2018-09-02
There is none other than he is a white guy who lives in Thailand

The switch on Musk opinion has been a long time coming, even if it just hit you more recently. /r/EnoughMuskSpam has been around for a decent while, and ever since he amped up his twitter presence a few months ago he's been changing the opinion on himself by exposure. Elon's always had a vocal fanbase, but their vocalness hid the shallowness of other parts of his support. Probably some oil/short money being put in to anti-PR, but the trend still seems organic.
1 dystopian_love 2018-09-02
I always disliked the enough trump spam sub for the reason that it was nothing but trump spam. It’s funny to see there is one for musk.
1 tristate23 2018-09-02
I like Elon Musk, but let's not forget he and Peter Thiel profited from dumping the piece of crap PayPal on the world. If they were so smart they would have stayed with the company and not let it hurt others.
1 B10wM3 2018-09-02
What's wrong with paypal?
1 tristate23 2018-09-02
has a history of arbitrarily locking funds (my current funds are locked because I have a prepaid phone); offers poor customer support -- support is foreign and can't relate to consumer and automated email support doesn't solve problems; offers no form of digital ownership; current app has an identity crisis and is hard to use; bows to government requests without warrants; need to provide my passport info to Paypal just to use MY money.
Paypal is a convenient tool for the government to control consumers. No where is there a law or is it stated in the constitution that the government owns the money of its people.
I simply want to own my money and use it without having to ask others for permission, and Paypal prevents this.
1 97643 2018-09-02
Lots of things, but to fault Musk for selling it for a billion dollars, that's just dumb.
1 tristate23 2018-09-02
My comment didn't say it was wrong to profit. He could have profited without letting the company become what it is today. Maybe he could have continued to run the company and have even more access to to capital than he does.
1 Gazza03 2018-09-02
If you started a company and you got offered billions for it you would take the money, anyone would.
1 tristate23 2018-09-02
Mark Zuckerberg turned down billion, so did Evan Spiegal of Snap. Tesla shareholders are offering Musk to step down for compensation and he's choosing not to, so no, not everyone would.
1 Hermeticism 2018-09-02
According to CDAN Elon has been doing anything he can to influence the media to not talk about his slow unraveling.
Read the actual Independent reports about him.
He is constantly wasted (high), and is being talked to at the highest levels to remove him from TSLA.
I am actually surprised the MSM hasn't been willing to cover his downspiral, as they are usually all over the fall of a "titan".
1 WEEEIRD 2018-09-02
Not saying it's the case for this situation, but blind items have been used in the past by PR to plant fake or misleading stories to Hurt a rival's rep
1 GlennDames 2018-09-02
All that fakeness has caught up with him. The Tesla in space BS looked faker and cheesier than David Bowie in Labyrinth. Maybe if we close our eyes and wish hard enough we can imagine Bowie driving Elon's car while Tesla himself waves (pun fully intended), brokenly and used, from the back of the theatre.....like in The Prestige.
1 dystopian_love 2018-09-02
Exactly this. We shouldn’t care what happens to him because he’s a fraud stealing taxpayer money.
1 97643 2018-09-02
Fuck off with that bullshit. I have a long time friend who I've known for decades and who I've always considered intelligent. He got wrapped up in the flat earth nonsense (along with Christianity at the same time, just a coincidence, I'm sure). I bought tickets for us to fly to Florida to see that launch, to settle the argument. It was the most awesome thing I've ever witnessed. The launch was cool enough, but watching the two boosters scream back toward the ground and then refire just when it looked like they were going to slam into the Earth.. fucking awesome. There were thousands of people gathered at multiple viewing sights, plenty of indipendent video. It's not disputable. That shit happened, and I saw it with my own eyes.
Apart from that, go to https://spotthestation.nasa.gov/sightings/ You can see when the ISS will fly over you next. You can go outside and watch it, no telescope or binoculars needed.
1 GlennDames 2018-09-02
No one gives a fuck....or believes you for that matter. All is a show. Musk is simply another paid actor on the Zionist stage.
1 100and9 2018-09-02
You're forgetting how he proposed a neutral medium for rating news. This is what you get if you mess with their propaganda.
1 footissimooo 2018-09-02
Can't imagine what could possibly go wrong with that idea 🙄
1 97643 2018-09-02
Yes, there are absolutely paid firms who have been hired to smear nearly every major player in the business and political spheres. Musk's problem is that he has been giving them fuel to feed feed the flames. When you have that many well funded crosshairs fixed on you, you have to play it the way politicians do.. you need handlers who research everything you say and do publicly, and craft responses to anything that may come up. He hasn't done that, which is obviously commendable, but at the same time it exposes him to these sorts of attacks. He's human, just like the rest of us, and without a team of professionals crafting his image, flaws will be visible.
1 gazc156 2018-09-02
This guy was called a pedo on twitter by a billionare, that's free money for slander in any court in the world. Why isn't this man chasing a payout from Elon?
1 Kobrag90 2018-09-02
Money wins court cases that's why. Elon is one of the elites.
1 deadlysarcasm 2018-09-02
He is, Jesus Christ do some fucking research before you post stupid shit
1 shitzafit 2018-09-02
Because Musk doesn’t do shit but fantasize about things. He then pays the real thinkers to figure out how to do it, but for some reason gets all the credit for it. The things he gets credited for has already been imagined by a great many people, he just has the money to throw at it.
1 alexva0 2018-09-02
It's not like he was born with that money
1 zenmasterzen3 2018-09-02
I'm sure the shorters who have billions betted on Musk failing have paid off the CIA to use mind control satellites on Elon Musk to make him go fruit loops like Howard Hughes.

He seems like a cult of personality to me. I was never interested in him or his work. I would occasionally see clips of him on those hyper-paranoid YouTube videos about the end of the world (WW3 Is Just Around The Corner! MUST SEE (2018)). He would talk about AI a lot. Joe Rogan-tier if you ask me.
1 NotSquerdle 2018-09-02
The only person running a smear campaign against Elon is Elon himself, by making a tit of himself on twitter time and time again. People are getting sick of his brand of egotistical or elitist bullshit, from calling a guy a peado because he criticised him submarine to calling himself a socialist whilst being a union-busting billionaire (also saying Marx was a capitalist cos he wrote a book about it). People are just now realising that despite funding some awesome stuff, the man himself is a fool.
Also to say he is a major threat to the fossil fuel industry is a bit of an exaggeration. Tesla is a small company and far from a run away success, whilst almost every major car manufacturer is already selling electric cars that are far more affordable than Tesla's.
1 Landiesaw 2018-09-02
No no no, TPTB somehow tricked him into accusing someone who was perceived of as a hero of being a pedophile.
1 Filibuster-Proof 2018-09-02
Electric cars charge their batteries off fossil fuel power grid.
All hes doing is moving the emmissions from him to them. Theyre still haolening
1 reasoningfella 2018-09-02
A power plant is far more efficient and clean than the internal combustion engine in a car. So even if the grid remains fully fossil fueled, it's actually still a big improvement.
1 boredenough2comment 2018-09-02
Whilst this is 100% true, manufacturing a new car uses vastly more emissions than a more efficient engine saves. Electric cars remain a luxury for 'eco-conscious' middle-class types rather than an effective way of combating climate change.
1 reasoningfella 2018-09-02
I know there was a study on the environmental impact of the full manufacture of a Tesla. The car does use more energy to build, but it begins to break even pretty quickly. I cant find the source right now and I don't remember the details too well so take it with a grain of salt. I'm definitely more optimistic than you about the benefits of electric cars, but it's good to be skeptical.
1 boredenough2comment 2018-09-02
That payoff is when you compare a brand new ICE car with a Tesla and even then it is 8 years. So the extra environmental impact of building a Tesla over an ICE vehicle is worth 8 years of the increased emissions from the ICE.
If you already own a car then it's even worse because the emissions from building a new one will outweigh a lifetime of savings from increased engine efficiency whether it is electric or ICE.
Obviously electric is the future of vehicles but buying an electric car is not good for the environment. Affordable public transport, cycle infrastructure and walking are the only eco alternative.

In most places. At least in Ontario it's mostly hydroelectric. And his solar shit is meant to also drive the system in that direction.
I get what you're saying but the world isn't black and white like the t
1 Filibuster-Proof 2018-09-02
Ours is coal with some natural gas. Little is renewable / hydro
1 Space_Pecs 2018-09-02
While mostly true, even a coal fired power plant is far more efficient than any internal combustion engine, so while the majority of the power that powers electric vehicles comes from burning fossil fuels, less CO2 is released due to how efficient power plants are. Plus plenty of folks have battery cars and solar on their roof. I see it quite a bit here in sunny New Mexico.

reddit is astroturfed to fuck and back. nothing about this site is organic, especially when it comes to high-level / political news.
1 Simplicity3245 2018-09-02
His ego handles that just fine.
1 _winterofdiscontent_ 2018-09-02
Reddit is a fine example of just how absurdly malleable/gullible people are, broadly. They have no real opinions of their own. They spout off anything they've heard somewhere else so that they will feel they will appear better informed and intelligent. Think about that for a while. When they talk about the elections being swayed by external forces, realize just how stupid that is to make an issue of. Of course they're going to say that because their own propaganda was less effective.

People need to think. They need to know what they're talking about.

Let's talk about the vaccine thing now, eh? Same rubbish.
1 BeLucky 2018-09-02
Reddit users just following the next hype. When Elon was in fashion they were kissing his backside, now he's not so much flavour of the month they'll turn their backs.
1 zotikola 2018-09-02
He refused to sell tesla to Saudi family, so now the will kill or destroy him
1 wurrboutit 2018-09-02
They are attacking him as a means to gain control of tesla. Look up short attacks - specifically what happened to fairfax a bit over a decade ago and you'll get a good idea of whats happening...
1 SgtBrutalisk 2018-09-02
I remember when the front page would have 2-5 threads at any given time on Musk: he changed his underwear (25k upvotes), he ate yogurt (36k upvotes, gilded 5 times) etc. across r-futurology, r-technology, r-news.
1 FartfullyYours 2018-09-02
Musk has always been a bullshit artist. Apparently, he went of his meds and confirmed this to the world.
